Michalina, your commitment to make the hurdy gurdy more accessible for everyone and more known by people is really remarkable. What you are doing is really great! ❤️
I just received my APLO a couple of weeks ago AND I LOVE IT. What a well-made beginners instrument and when I say 'beginners' - I do not mean less in quality or quality of sound - I mean not having the complexities of resonant strings and capos, etc. This instrument has a great feel. Thank you MM.
I wrote the wrong piece title in the video, it's "Halsway" by Nigel Eaton, not "Kate at the Gate"! I beat my breast. The only thing I have in my defense is that preparing Aplo release was a lot of stress and work and even though I was listening to this piece yesterday, I didn't realize I had the wrong title in mind all the time. 🙈 I'm very sorry! And thank you @elektrovolt for pointing it out.
Very nice! an affordable and simple instrument available in a short time is an excellent idea. *one note: the melody is called 'Halsway' instead of 'kate at the gate' :)
As a new beginner I'm interested in the Aplo. My first one will be a self builder since I don't want to wait 2 years to start learning the instrument. However if this model is available in the next few months I'll gladly pick one up too!
Aplo is made of plywood. The finish is opaque, smooth and glossy, as in the first photo on the website: ancestore.eu/en_US/p/Hurdy-Gurdy-Aplo/66 If you would like to check our gurdies made of wood, you can check Saphona for example: ancestore.eu/en_US/p/Hurdy-Gurdy-Saphona/54 :)
Aplo is not particularly loud, when you play on melody strings with drones I would say it's a tiny bit more quiet than violin and if you engage the trompette it is a bit louder.

I don't mind, my tunes all sound the same anyway hahah!!! anyway it sounds really fabulous, great job Ancestore!
Hey, that is such a nice model! It sounds really warm, love it. =D The chanters playing together sound particularly epic.
Awesome work! You all continue to impress with your engagement with the community and customers!
Exactly!

O doesn't matter - it sounds lovely and I learned it immediately ahhha and then bought Eaton's Panic at the Cafe - so all good!!
That's a great idea, a good sounding and affordable gurdy :)

Oh my goodness, you're right! 🙈 I will pin a comment with a correction. Thank you!
@@ancestore8767 I hope I can finally try both the Saphona and the Aplo model somewhere this year. cheers, Jimi
wonderful

Hi! Aplo is available now with a 5 months waiting list: ancestore.eu/en_US/p/Hurdy-Gurdy-Aplo/66 :)
Hope I can grab one next time it's in stock!
It is open for orders now, check it out on our store: ancestore.eu/en_US/p/Hurdy-Gurdy-Aplo/66
Even though I prefer to play lefty, I'd definitely pick up one of these for LARP or to loan to friends who want to learn.
Is it possible to get a left handed model?
What is the scale length of this model? Looks similar to the Saphona but cameras can play tricks.
it is 42 cm, the same as in Saphona :)
I want one of these so bad. I just can’t swallow the cost right now.
Aplo in Greek means simple. I like it. Am I to assume that a finalized version of this is in the works to be sold at your store in the future?
We are opening it for orders on January 7th 2021 :)
My question ,what is the grain quality of thr wood underneath all that black coating?

@@ancestore8767 In defence of plywood, it is more resistant to temperature and humidity changes.
For what it's worth, I would buy one.
How loud is a hurdy gurdy in real life? Is it louder than a violin?
Depends, they go from quite quite to pretty loud.

@@ancestore8767 Thank you very much :)
Can the drone string be tuned to a low a?
Yes, the G drone could be tuned up to A.
Does the APLO come available in G-C/
We can change the tuning to G/C for you, no problem :)
Yes, Halsway Scottish, that was fun to play (th-cam.com/video/GwwrQKTk4r4/w-d-xo.html). Direct orderd :-p
