Nice! Get some O-rings in the rear cups. At 2:13 I thought I heard some diff clicking. Lol Mine already shredded a rear ring gear just from running paddles on 6S! Installing the machined gears today.
We'll find out if the stock motor can handle it. obviously I wasn't too tough on it yet. But we're going to find out and of course ill be constantly updating you through vids.
@@TrailerTrashRC look for some 40x40x28mm fans for that motor. It may need a adapter to go from 35mm to 40mm but there's plenty of 3d printed ones on ebay! That's where I got my xmaxx fans and they are great! Put my own plugs on there for a 3s battery and only paid like 15 or 20 for 3 fans.
Just today I was thinking about doing the same exact thing to my sledge so I looked it up and found your post. But the thing that I was thinking is to put in the 8s esc but still run it on 6s lipo and see if there is a difference. What do you think?
I think that would be a good idea. I still run it on 6s more than 8s. Im not sure how much of a difference it makes but, it seems like a good idea to me lol
Dude thats insane on 8s! 😳 I just picked mine up yesterday. Mine also needs the o rings to stop the shafts falling out. Easy fix... Great vid..looking forward to seeing more insane content bro!!👍🙂
@@TrailerTrashRC awesome news cheers for replying I might put the og traxis motor/controller back in (I opted for the hobbycraft combo and threw the original in a drawer somewhere, forgot about it till now) and 8s her for funs sake now you reminded me lol......👍👌👍
LMFAO I just realized what your channel name is!!! Dude I miss living in our old trailer court... only few would know the hill Billy bs you gotta go through.
My buddy at our local hobby shop ordered one pre-delivery and put a Max6 Set up before he even slapped the battery into his. I doubt this is the first 8s swap but cool video
We got some but, they aren't the right size. So, we'll get the right ones soon! It went 70mph with small tires so, it'll be wild with the bigger belted tires!
Xmaxx is still king. I've never had any issues with my plastic shock caps on my X-Maxx. And I do 26ft high jumps plus double and triple backflips for like 2 years now 🤣. I doubt that drivetrain will last with 8s TBH. Interesting stuff though 😂
hahaha tell all the xmaxxs Ive broke in half that their still king. lol Im not here to say one is better than the other. I like them both :) The xmaxx is definitely one of my favorites to run. We'll see how the drivetrain holds up! too soon to say.
@@TrailerTrashRC Xmaxx : bigger, faster (with my 25/35 gearing, Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor), jumps higher, longer and can take bad terrain better due to ground clearance. No doubt the Slede is a nice RC, but if I had to choose, for me personally, bigger is better for bashing. 😂👍. I don't jump my X-Maxx super high, then landed on concrete. I just don't do stuff like that. Maybe because you jump even higher? I've only cracked two Xmaxx chassis in two years. And one of them was going full speed into a curb. The Chassis didn't even crack. What cracked in both of them is where the front and rear modules bolt on actually. How high did you jump those Xmaxx? Into concrete? I'm just curious.
@@joseCalderon1976 my point really is that they are made for different things. When it comes to bashing, the xmaxx is definitely cooler because of the size. Ive jumped around 30ft onto both concrete and grass. They have broken at times and other times they didnt. The xmaxx is incredibly durable i would say, as is the sledge. The sledge is definitely better for racing and things like that. The xmaxx is goofy compared to it. I like them both. The xmaxx has had time to improve. If you remember, the xmaxx started out as a 6s vehicle that had escs that caught on fire all the time and differentials that blew out all the time. Im interested to see how traxxas goes about improving this sledge over time. If I had to choose, i also would choose the xmaxx haha
I can well see the Traxxas Sledge overtaking the Traxxas Maxx (both versino one and two) as the most durable RC on the market. Along with the improved handling of the Sledge, I also see this as being a more popular machine than the Maxx. I have both the first version of the Maxx and the Sledge.
I dont have a version two of the maxx but i used to have a widemaxx. It wasnt all that fun to drive to me. So far, the sledge is definitely impressive.
8s is more than it needs but, its too fun not to try😂 I absolutely agree about the plastic shock caps. Though, i will say if something is gonna break, the shock cap is an easy fix.
@@TrailerTrashRC if you stay on 8S. There is a option to go on flat hard cases batteries without connectors. I have seen them in Buggy. But only disadvantage is the price, capacity and holes for the connectors on upper side.
shes ripping!! to the moon!
You know it!!!
Your turn kev
Yes😉, when is the next sledge video coming?
0:56 Kevin talbot moment lol
What's up dude... Anther awesome video foresure..
I appreciate man! Hope youre doing well!
Oh man that's the way she was meant to be....wild and free like a peacock!
Hahahahaha absolutely!
That did look like a lot of fun
It's a blast!
Just awsome!! That thing looks out of control!!!!
Haha it is wild! Just wait till we REALLY send it!
Nice! Get some O-rings in the rear cups.

Traxxas tires can barely handle 6S power, let alone 8S. Just put the Sledge motor and ESC into my Maxx… what a blast! Might be my new favorite truck.
Once I get a maxx again, I may try that!
Mo powa Mo problems. Fun vid bro.
Mo vids too! haha thanks boss
The new Kraton is awesome
Hahaha its totally wicked bro.
Hm what about whelie bar and some belted street tires? Stock motor can really manage it?
Belted Tires and Speedometer should be here Tuesday! The wheelie bar is a good idea! Ill have to add that! Great suggestion.

Liked and favorited. Awesome dude!! Just might have to do this someday to mine. Haha
totally worth it!!!! although its not holding up to the weight very well so, im. gonna need to get some smaller batteries!
Wow that thing is crazy
haha it definitely is! crazy fun too!
Cool 😎 man 👍👍👍

Thanks bro! can't wait to bring more craziness too ya! Have fun with it man. its a beast of a car for sure. it'll break, but its fun haha
So how has the motor held out at 8s, have you found an 8s motor that fits in the sledge yet?
The motor holds up fine! I havnt had a need to change it :)
It does get hot after a bit though.

💭🤔 So I probably shouldn’t put the 4985 160A or 200A in mine huh? 😆🤣😂
Insane bro!! Can’t wait to see it sent at 70!😎
Its coming!!!! Along with a bunch of other ridiculously awesome ideas! haha

Awesome bro! That looks like it’s going to rip on new tires! Can’t wait to see it! 👍🏻🍻
You know it! Cant wait to get the tires in!!!
Going to do this today. Wish me luck.
I believe in you! haha have fun man!!!!
Thats wild man, i was thinking maybe double standing back flip?
Ive got to get the right tires on it. but it could do it I bet
New name, the traxxas wedge!! Because thats what its gonna become after it takes real flight..lol
Hahahahah we’ll find out very shortly 😂🔥
Until those traxxas particle board gears strip. 😳
Wouldn't surprise me if it happened at some point.
Stock motor 😳 ?
Yes
Dang I'm another Trailer Trash RCer. Just got my Sledge a few days ago. I think I found my YT RC home lol
Hahaha absolutely! Welcome home lol

First one on youtube :) max 6 is a good choice!
Ur an animal! Love it!👍👍👍
haha thanks man! stay tuned!!!!
I would get some belted tires so it won’t balloon up so much

👍👍
👍More to come!
you couldn't snap your finger and battery straps would just be there and installed?
I dont know how to do that yet. Its a work in progress

lots more coming my friend!

Very nice mate. But your next problem will be the die-cast pinion and spur gear. To fix the problem you will need machined spur and pinion gear 🦘👍🤣🤪
As long as im not landing on the throttle we should be ok. But, im excited for the after market gears to come out!
The sledge is 100% pure machine, absolutely love this rig! Enjoy brother!

Wow didn't strip. I digress . Lol
Hahaha theyre not bad as long as you dont land under too much power. But they should be stronger than they are. I agree!
1:50
Give traxxas a month an theiy will release a 8s one
Lol id be happy if they did honestly. At the price point its at it should be 8s capable if you ask me haha
The battery hold down was genius!😆
