What I got from watching this video: • EmuMMC/EmuNand are only for offline plays. So this is good for single player enjoyers. • Turn off auto update on your system because it might render your CFW system useless, unless there's an update for it that is compatible to the latest firmware of the switch. • if you want to play multiplayer games, buy an original copy of it and boot your unit into ofw (original firmware) in order to play it. • Just be VERY careful when playing in CFW. I recommend turning wifi off while playing the games there. If there's something I missed, please feel free to comment it down below. It will be helpful for me and for the others. Thank you
Good so far except for point 3 which is a little bit more complicated. 1. Always have an original copy of you plan on using cheats online as a pirated copy will always flag your hardware at some point. Using cheats online in multiplayer varies from game to game. For example ACNH and Pokemon seem to be safe because either they don't care enough to go after you since they aren't highly competitive games and the "cheats" don't actually alter gameplay and can be obtained in game at some point. Cheating in a game like splatoon or Mario kart to give you unfair advantage with constant boosts etc will get you banned. It's a matter of being smart with what you're doing. 2. You don't have to turn off Wi-Fi while playing in CFW. Like I said earlier, it's just a matter of being smart with your cheats while on CFW. People who host treasure islands for Animal Crossing online for example have modded islands and are online on CFW. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to go to their island etc. 99 percent of players based on use case scenario don't need an EmuMMC created unless it's for pure piracy reasons which is what it's intended for. Which is essentially using your switch in offline play with whatever games you want with the caveat of never being able to use those games online with friends on Nintendo Live. Now if there's a question of "Can I use pirated games on Emu while playing my original bought games on CFW/OFW and go back and forth?" -The answer is yes, however, I've seen far too many people do this wrong. It requires being extremely careful and making sure you have the proper installation in the right places whether it be on your emu or OFW/CFW and making sure they never touch the other. Hope this info helps and good recap! I will pin it

This video talks specifically about how piracy is bad for Nintendo switch if you attempt to go online as it will result in a ban if not used correctly with an Emmummc. Regarding piracy itself I personally don't have a comment 😊
I do see both sides of the coin here but I also know some game devs that work hard on a title and then not get compensated for their work as opposed to a smaller game dev who might for instance like piracy since it will get their name out there to the public and game title. Id like to elaborate on your point at 7:35. There are certain mods that are not online safe that you might only want to use on emummc. Since mods between emummc and syscfw are shared, that could be a reason not to be on syscfw 100% of the time if you want to play a game unmodded
How do you know what mods aren’t safe? I would only mod switch to mod Pokémon not for online competitive but for maybe trading and community stuff. Also maybe extra items in ToTk and stuff like that. Emulation as well. Will all that get me banned going online?
So, there wouldn’t be a single way by any means to play online with a pirated game without getting banned? Even if you’re not necessarily using cheats on that game at all? Or is the risk there but you can try not to get caught?
You will get banned the second you hit nintendo servers due to the telemetry that games including pirated games send over to nintendo. So the risk is you will always get banned. Whether it be same day, a few days or in a month. It will happen

Should I backup my NAND or pay for Nintendo Switch online to backup my data before sending my Switch for repair? I only want to mod my switch to backup all my data (users, screenshots and videos) without having CFW on my NAND so is it easy uninstall emuMMC before sending my switch for repair in case something goes wrong?
So a little background first, I'm quite tech savvy and work most things out and if i cant i'll use YT and work it out but there are a few questions i have to get a little more understanding on a HB switch. First, my switch was bought modded, its a HK version and ive checked the website to see if its patched or not and my serial number isn't on there, so it's safe to say i have a newer one. The guy i got it from installed atmosphere on there and tinfoil and a few others, DIB, goldleaf, checkpoint and aiwoo (I think thats how its spelled). So, he told me not to go online as its risky to get banned so i haven't. He showed me the way of uploading games to the switch, which was basically downloading the files from a sharing site and then connecting the usb and running DIB and so on. My first question is i've seen some videos of going online via changing DS settings, is it possible to go online? My second question is I've tried getting a HB shop from tinfoil but cant seem to get one, I typed the directory librashop .... but it didnt do anything. Does it need to be connected to the net to access it? So in a nutshell, Im just trying to find a way to work tinfoil shops so i can install games directly without the usb but can't seem to. I've opened it but cant seem to get anything working. I hope i can get some help. Thanks
Yah so this is a newer modchip installed switch by the sound of it, and no you can't change any DNS settings on your switch to go online because more than likely you are on EMUNAND. For starters, having tinfoil on your system and not particularly knowing where your guy installed it on (whether it be the SysNAND or Emu strictly makes it really risky for you to even attempt going online.) But then again at the end of the day it also technically doesn't matter since you're never gonna use that switch online for all intents or purposes. So you could technically get banned and nothing will change. Regarding piracy shops, I haven't been keeping up with them personally but I did hear a while back most of the shops had shut down but you should still be able to find copies of games online if you google hard enough. Hope this helps friend.
Im on the stock version rn and i was wondering if i could download all the games onto the sd card that has all the mods and just play the game normally online
You can enable autoRCM which has pros and cons: PRO: You no longer need the jig to enter RCM. Just powering up the Switch will enter RCM. CON: You can no longer boot up the switch normally. (As far as I know, at least - if someone can confirm or deny this I'd appreciate it) What this means is you'd need the payload to enter Hekate every time you powered up your switch (meaning you'd need an Auto Payloader or be near your PC with the payload + cable, or else you'd just have a black screen when you boot up your switch.

No, being connected to the wifi doesn't get you banned. What does get you banned is connecting online for any game you've modded or added that you're not originally supposed to have. Also, you can block off connection to Nintendo's servers on the emuMMC and be completely safe to connect to the internet. Just need to have 90DNS tester on your homebrew to verify it.

A mod chip is like a special key that unlocks extra features on your video game console, allowing it to run different programs and games that it normally couldn't. Think of it as adding a custom upgrade to your console, but keep in mind it can void the warranty and Nintendo usually doesn't like it when people use it for piracy.

Just want to ask two questions to get opinions from someone more experienced (either the uploader or any commenters with experience); 1. I want to use mods in Pokemon Sword and Shield that don't directly affect gameplay (just a costume mod). Would I need to play offline whilst using this mod? 2. I've dumped my copy of Pokemon Scarlet and its save file to my PC in order to play on Ryujinx for better performance. I don't intend on using any mods that will alter the game beyond that like changing spawns or items, etc. Purely for a smoother framerate and better graphics. Would it be safe to move my save file back onto my Switch in order to play online with friends, and then move back to PC when I'm playing solo? I understand that when it comes to Nintendo and modding, nothing is ever really certain. But I'd like to hear about the experiences from people who may have attempted to do these things.

I only want to mod my switch to backup all my data (users, screenshots and videos) without having CFW on my NAND so is it easy uninstall emuMMC before sending my switch for repair in case something goes wrong?
Question, should I get rid of my account/Nintendo switch online account on my switch before modding?
I pressed power off and my switch not working anymore i dont know why ?
What does online mean? I can't use a web browser either?
Should i play online games on ofw or sysmmc and tinfoil
Only reason I want to mod my switch is for Pokémon , so any tuts for how?
Im on the stock version rn and i was wondering if i could download all the games onto the sd card that has all the mods and just play the game normally online
Is a jig needed to boot into CFW every time or just for the initial setup?
every time
You can enable autoRCM which has pros and cons:
PRO: You no longer need the jig to enter RCM. Just powering up the Switch will enter RCM.
CON: You can no longer boot up the switch normally. (As far as I know, at least - if someone can confirm or deny this I'd appreciate it)
What this means is you'd need the payload to enter Hekate every time you powered up your switch (meaning you'd need an Auto Payloader or be near your PC with the payload + cable, or else you'd just have a black screen when you boot up your switch.
@@JakeIGuess There's also an android app in which you can push the payload, just requires OTG cable.
Man i just wanna know if I can transfer pokemon from pokemon bank (modded 3ds) to Pokemon Home (modded switch). But thank you so much for all the info!
What game is playing in the background?
Hi all, i’d greatly appreciate any help with an issue i’m having and can’t seem to find the answer for. So my switch is now hacked and I want to play TOTK and use my saves from before it was hacked but when i put the game cartridge in it has the little cloud icon above it. I assume this means download the data from my Nintendo account which i obviously can’t do so how do i work around this? Do i transfer it from my original sd card or something? Any help is really appreciated
If I need to take out my SD card from my modded switch, do I need to power it off because I don’t want it to reset or reboot to the original firmware
what if you want to download a mod for character appearance which is very minor.
I live in the us. Is it illegal to buy a mod chip of day alliexpress and import it
If im pirating games and im on emunand (if thats the offline one) would i get banned
@@ghilks6310 as long as it's only on emunand and you never go online on it
Will there ever be an exploit in the future for v2, lites and old?
not unless it has a modchip installed. The atmosphere dev already has looked and those are seal tight.
Is there anywhere I can buy joycons with the modifications required pre-applied, or a software mod available? I have a launch day switch.
hi!! i was wanting to mod my switch for Skyrim mods and i noticed a lot of tutorials mentioning something about layeredfs but i can't find anything on how to install it, also should i get a second switch before modding my first one?
quick question. If i wanted to download that android thing on my switch would that be on emummc
Can you still play physical games (inserting switch cartridges) on a jailbroken switch?? I need answers thanks.
Yes. You are also able to dump the games so you don't need to insert the cartridges to change games.
I don't understand...Soo does it means like downloading the free games from cfw and booting up ofw all the games will be there or?
Hello i have a problem, on my CFW i have Incognito Mode for EMUMMC but it also affects to the CFW, i already managed to deactivate it on CFW but my friend list doesn't show up anyways, as if im not online, can somebody help?
Does this mean that I can have two serrate animal crossing islands? One on each side
One on each side of what?
One of the sys and one on the emu. Two separate islands since they’re separate
@@kaalyes10 well there's no need to use emu if you have a legit copy of your game like I mentioned. On your sys you can have as many islands as you want and load them up anytime using JKSV
Im quite new to modding but all I wonder is if I can still legally buy games on my modded switch on the nintendo eshop? Im not planning to pirate any games and only mod smash bros.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me
Hi what would i need to use if i want to play games i downloaded of the internet on my switch
so I can go online with SysCFW and OFW but not mith emunand right
Last time I tried going online on my switch using the emummc but an error happened, am I still going to get banned if I tried to go online?
Well you shouldn't be going online on your emummc to begin with unless you're trying to get banned for some reason
Is it safe to emulate games on cfw and stuff? I'm trying to play co op mods of some old GameCube games but I don't know if Nintendo cares?
If you do emulation do it on your emunand and keep it offline. Noone including Nintendo will know if you do it that way
“Soledering skills”
OK SO I am using the emummc to download apps from the HB store, so I have to go online, will nintendo see me and get banned?
Type in the first 3 digits of my switches cereal code and was told it’s patched😭
I'm confused about what to do. I just want a sonic moveset mod for smash.
3:41, would it be recommended to factory reset my sysNAND before making an EmuNAND? Since Wifi settings and Nintendo account is linked with my sysNAND?
When I start Atmosphere, the screen goes black and stays that way.
Even if you use hekate, it will still work.
How can I fix it?
Atmosphère ver1.7.1
switch ver18.0.0
Can anyone help me?
How do you play on CFW with sys with out getting banned I mean doesn't info about your switch get send to Nintendo about what you do on it like I am just kinda scared about getting banned for just using a save manager or sys modules on sysmmc
I know my switch is patched but could I still dump it and use mods?
if you get a mod chip yeah
@@Matthew_MBG
Looking into it now. Thanks. ^w^
How do I disable my EmuMMC? I want to play smash online
How much is a v1 switch worth in 2023 i am thinking of selling mine in canadian dollars
Like $300-$350 I believe
I just bought one without joycons or other accessories for £110.
When you say going online will get you banned, does that mean something even as small as being connected to the wifi?
No, being connected to the wifi doesn't get you banned. What does get you banned is connecting online for any game you've modded or added that you're not originally supposed to have. Also, you can block off connection to Nintendo's servers on the emuMMC and be completely safe to connect to the internet. Just need to have 90DNS tester on your homebrew to verify it.
the beginning of my nintendo switch's serial number isnt 1 of the options, how am i suppose to find out if its patched, or not?.. Edit: nvm, i found out i was looking at the wrong serial number. its xkw1... whats a mod chip?
A mod chip is like a special key that unlocks extra features on your video game console, allowing it to run different programs and games that it normally couldn't. Think of it as adding a custom upgrade to your console, but keep in mind it can void the warranty and Nintendo usually doesn't like it when people use it for piracy.
oh...@@Jabeeps
My modded switches power button won’t work. I tried everything and it will not work for the life of me
How to i continue the homebrew after installing the chip
So I have never owned a Nintendo switch, but decided to buy an early 2017 (modable one). I plan on modding but I want to know if I can go online. For now I want a nintindo switch for Just Dance and primarly Just Dance Unlimted. I have being using Yuzu in the meantime but it does not allow you to use Just Dance Unlimited. Can someone let me know if this would be possible on a modded switch. Thank you.
Yes it possible on modded switch
Hello, I wanted to ask if playing a pirated game like smash bros online with no mods can get me banned
You won't get banned if you don't mod it 😂
@@KlutchxGaming thanks
But I thought you couldn’t play online?
Do you mean switching from sysnand (ofw) to emunand?
What is considered going online? Is it playing online like splatoon n Minecraft or different
It's ok to be connected to wifi. Going online would be like starting up an NSO app or a game that requires internet connection to Nintendo's servers.
how do i uninstall a mod? i just want to know for future reference
Is it okay to use an SD from a modded switch in an unmodded OLED?
I dont think so.
yes, no problem
How to see the gallery?
hold R while opening gallery
Hey! I dont have a modded switch. But I’m wondering, what is the chance of failure? Like my switch not turning on ever again. After that, what’s the chance of getting banned? I’m not gonna go online, just wondering. Its my only switch and I don’t want to lose it to me being stupid, since I cant afford another.
My suggestion is wait until the console is discontinued, and then mod it.
@@Wildez272 this was 11 months ago. Ive modded it since then.
@@ReeeMonke Ok my bad, how did it go Im considering modding mine
@@Wildez272 it went not just fine, perfectly! I was so happy with it. I havent used my switch in a while though so i cant tell you how its going right now, but it was awesome.
@@ReeeMonke Ok my only question is after you have modded and you choose to play on the original hardware is there still a chance to get banned? I really want only cusstom themes and mods for pokemon
If I mod my switch, can I still use hdmi ? There is no problems about it ?
yeah
Awh man :( it means my OLED Switch cannot be moded ?
Unfortunately not. Sorry bud =(
You have to mod it with a chip that’s soldered into the switch brain.
@@KlutchxGaming wrong you can mod a oled with a mod chip
With a mod chip but it’s very hard to get one and an oled with a mod chip already in is 700+
@@aliqureshi599holy that is expensive! in my country i could get modded new oled model with 500 usd! but they use that china mod chip, hwfly or something
can i do this to an oled switch?
Nope
Is there a a way i can play online in hacked switch?
Umm guys I may be a but stupid but am I able to play online if I go back to ofw software
As long as you didn't pirate games and brought emunand online
@@KlutchxGaming thanks
I don’t recommend v1 I say go v2 with the mod chip for better battery life and with the v1 mod you can’t let your switch die unless you have to mod it again but the mod chip v2 you let it die and your good
Finding one is hard and there's a lot more that newbie players most likely won't understand if they're new to modding
@KlutchxGaming Hard to understand - Yes
Hard to find - No
Thank you Picofly
Answered all my questions. However, I just have one more. Can I use a usb c to sd card reader with usb 3.0 thunderbolt to micro sd adapter? It’s for my MacBook since I need a different one than a regular one for a pc
I'm not sure what's compatible with Mac but I don't see why that would be an issue either way
@@KlutchxGaming so whatever micro sd adapter works for Mac it should be fine using it to mod with my switch?
@@shayabigaile5092 yup!
piracy is the only and best way to play Nintendo Sony or Xbox games. except pc where you can do anything and it's technically way more work to pirate than pay for it cuz they are cheap as dirt. never feel bad these multi billion companies earn way more than they ever lose. also if buying isn't owning and physical costs way more than a digital game. id rather pirate
Just want to ask two questions to get opinions from someone more experienced (either the uploader or any commenters with experience);
