Our Lord Jesus didn't appoint Peter to be the Pontifex Maximus. Quite the opposite. Read Luke 22:24+ The Pontifex Maximus was the first priest of the Roman State Religion usually the Emperor himself. But the title Pontifex Maximus can be traced back to the Babylonian religion. When the Medo-Persians conquered Babylon, the Babylonian religion was maintained, but after a revolt of the priesthood, the priests of Babylon were driven out of Medo-Persia, and established themselves at Pergamum, taking with them their titles and vestures. The last pontiff king of Pergamum was Attalus III, who bequeathed his title to the emperor of Rome in 133 BC. In the fourth century AD, Christian emperor Gratian refused the title, and in the year 431 AD, the title was taken over by Damascus, bishop of Rome. The issue with that title is what we read in Revelation 2:13 about Pergamus.

@shevchenko5456 I converted to Roman Catholic from non denomination Baptist this past Easter. It's by far the best decision I ever made! Mass may seem redundant to protestants, until you realize it's an extension of Christ at Calvary, and you have the presence of Christ before you and in you!!! No emotional manipulations, no peer pressure, no motivational speeches, just the simplicity and beauty of God's Son in action! I needed Catholic traditions and the prayers of the saints in my life. Hello, I'm a cradle Catholic from another country, but two of my favorite Catholic TH-camrs were once protestants. Maybe you'll find something helpful in one or both channels with the grace of God. One is Argent (you find him better searching Argent Templar, even though he doesn't go by that anymore). He documented his spiritual journey and has an apologetics playlist with several videos about his conversion, about heresies, about compared religion, it's a thing of beauty and I go back to it from time to time. He's not a Catholic tuber, so you'll see history, politics, movies and anime, and even stuff about mental health and internet drama in his channel. Love him but I admit he can be an acquired taste. The other one is Dr. Taylor Marshall, and he's a theologian and a writer. Super serious stuff. He often mentions the difference between the Catholic faith and his former protestant self when doing his podcasts. He's a full on TLM trad whose wife and daughters wear a veil to church. I'd recommend you in particular his book Eternal City. How any of this can help. God bless.

Not the same. The catholic song is sacred, the most elevated spriritual expression to . The protestant song is just a pop song, too mundane: pure noise.
@@isabels.8227 Where are the Catholic songs ordained in the Bible? Protestant songs only feel this way to you because they are in English and relatively recent. Catholic songs were in the language of the masses during the Roman era and simply haven’t been changed. They have the benefit of time and antiquity.
Many words of catholic songs are extracted of sacred scripture. And don`t forget that that text didn`t pick up all about Iesus Christus. There are much oral tradition as the oration "Sub tuum praesidium Sancta Dei Genetrix", founded that from first christians. But in your comment is the true: the catholic religion is bimillenial, because it was funded by Iesus Christus! (not by Constantin as protestant "shepherds" usually lie). So there a lot of tradition there. The Gregorian chant is medieval. Along all period the catholic music is sacred. While the protest song are very modern because they lack tradition and spiritual refinement. They didn`t exist before Luther and they are not a unique church! (like catholic chruch is). They are many sects where everyone "feels" in their own way. In a mundane way because every sect has been founded by a man normal and common. (Excuse me for my English)
Both genres are legit. One emphasizes the sacred and holy, the other the raw and personal. Both aspects are accurate and scriptural. And this video is hilarious.
Is something that is sacred and holy not raw and personal? What is with this idea that anything sacred and holy is somehow less connected to our true humanity or is less authentic?

If you think the Pope shouldn't exist then you directly goes against The Scriptures Peter's role as “chief apostle” is evident in the fact that he is mentioned more than any other apostle, often speaks for the whole group, and is placed first in every list of the apostles. Since Judas is always listed last, we can deduce that these lists were made in order of importance. Moreover, Christ made Peter alone the shepherd over his whole flock (see John 21:15-17), and the book of Acts describes Peter’s unparalleled leadership in the early Church. This includes his authority to make a binding, dogmatic declaration at the council of Jerusalem (Acts 15). As the Anglican scholar J.N.D Kelly puts it, “Peter was the undisputed leader of the youthful church” (Oxford Dictionary of the Popes, 1).Finally, in Matthew 16:18-19, Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter, which means rock, and said, “You are Peter [rock], and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” This passage is an allusion to Isaiah 22:22, which tells of how Israel’s wicked chief steward Shebna was replaced with the righteous Eli’akim. Isaiah 22:22 said Eli’akim would have “the key of the house of David; he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” Just as King Hezekiah gave Eli’akim authority to oversee the kingdom of Israel, Christ gave Peter authority to oversee his Church (i.e., the “keys to the kingdom”), which included the authority to “bind and loose”-in other words, to determine official doctrine and practice. In response to these verses, some Protestants claim Peter is not the rock upon whom the Church was built, because 1 Corinthians 10:4 says “the rock was Christ.” Others say the Greek text of Matthew 16:18 shows that while Simon was called petros, the rock the Church will be built on was called petras, thus showing that the Church is not built on Peter. But in first Corinthians, Paul is talking about Christ shepherding ancient Israel, not the Church, and in Matthew 16, petros and petras both refer to Peter. According to John 1:42, Jesus gave Simon the Aramaic name Kepha, which means simply “rock.” But unlike in Aramaic, in Greek the word rock is a feminine noun, so Matthew used the masculine version of rock, or petros, since calling Peter petras would have been on par with calling him Patricia! As Lutheran theologian Oscar Cullman puts it, “petra=Kepha=petros” (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, 98). Even the Protestant Reformer John Calvin said, “There is no difference of meaning, I acknowledge, between the two Greek words petros and petra” (Commentary on Matthew Mark, and Luke, vol. 2). Also it's not like every Muslim country follow sharia law. Indonesia don't follow it. Our Lord Jesus didn't appoint Peter to be the Pontifex Maximus. Quite the opposite. Read Luke 22:24+
The Pontifex Maximus was the first priest of the Roman State Religion usually the Emperor himself.

It’s really as simple as going to a Catholic Church and seeing if you like it
@shevchenko5456 I converted to Roman Catholic from non denomination Baptist this past Easter. Overcoming addiction has never been better!!! It's a life long marathon my friend. Man may try to discourage you as they tried with me, but it's up to you to hold God's will in you hands! Charge forward with our Holy Mother Mary!!! She will help you always!!!
God bless.
I think i can help you, i lived a very protestantised life as an agnostic and even when i was a Christian before, and now i'm on way to the one and only Holy Church
Not sure if you've gotten the info you're looking for yet, but find your closest Catholic church and get into the RCIA program. RCIA generally starts in September so you should still have time to get into one. Please follow through on this, I'm a former Protestant and becoming Catholic is truly an amazing experience.

But in your comment is the true: the catholic religion is bimillenial, because it was funded by Iesus Christus! (not by Constantin as protestant "shepherds" usually lie). 3) You'll try to split Christ into two different persons by claiming Mary is the mother of Christ the person, but not Christ of the Triune God.

Right here you low-key denied His divinity. It's called the Nestorian Heresy.
So based on your speculation the following are heresies:
Matthew 16:16 (NIV):
"Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.'"
Mark 1:1 (NIV):
"The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God."
John 20:31 (NIV):
"But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
... and many many more bible verses
If calling Jesus Christ the Son of God is a heresy to you. I don't even know if you believe in the trinity or not.
**To avoid calling Mary the Mother of God, 3 things happen:
1) You'll change subject, saying God the Father is eternal and has no mother. Nobody is claiming this.**
First off, the reason I said Mary is the mother of the Son of God and not "GOD". Is because she gave birth to the person of the triune God. She didn't begot The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. If you believe that, you need to read your bible more often not to make a silly mistake as this.
**2) You'll deny Christ's divinity by claiming Mary isn't the Mother of God. Christ is God, Mary is His Mother.**
I'm no bible scholar but I understand the significance of the Trinity. She is the Mother of GOD (Jesus Christ). Not the Mother of GOD(Father,Jesus Christ, Holy Ghost). Is that making sense?
That is why we say Mary is the mother of the Son of God, so that people by hearing us say don't mistake that she is the mother of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Which she isn't!
**3) You'll try to split Christ into two different persons by claiming Mary is the mother of Christ the person, but not Christ of the Triune God.**
Um, I didn't say that.

The old hymns have a weight behind them that can't help but fill you with a sense of reverence and humility. Brothers in Christ have been lifting this song in praise to God for a thousand years and now you can join all those saints in a tradition that will never end.
But the modern stuff just seems a lot more personal and emotional to me. The joke is that modern christian music is just pop love songs with the word baby or girl replaced with god or jesus. But that's not really a bad thing. Christians should be in love with God, he loves us after all. Songs that express that more intimate and personal relationship are a good thing.

@@Halo-wp3zh still hold to fundamentalist ideas and fight for them in many parts of the world, the catholic church is more and more pro-lgbt, something like "the pope" shouldnt even exist, only God sets rules and noone else, thats why christianity is losing to leftists, because it can be changed, sharia law cannot
@@Jigachader I think k you misunderstood the 3 authority in the Catholic Church, the Pope (magisterium) can never change the teaching of the church since the other 2 authorities the tradition and scriptures complety contradict it's, also doctrines can't be change and the Pope can't just "change" Stuff all willy nilly some people misunderstood the doctrine of papal infamibility, even tho this doctrine have only been used once and in the 2000 years of Catholic Church history. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
This passage is an allusion to Isaiah 22:22, which tells of how Israel’s wicked chief steward Shebna was replaced with the righteous Eli’akim.
And some Muslims are pro LGBT not all of them obviously but they exist. if you see based in a more right wing loving tradition kinda thing then yeah they're based, but since this is a Catholic Channel I thought based in a more Catholic sense you know?

Also, the eucharist isn't literal. I have no idea what you mean by that. Protestants do communion which is the breaking of bread and wine / grapejuice. @@DoctorDewgong big facts
Leviticus makes it pretty clear God desires beautifully adorned temples and ordered liturgical worship. Orthodox Christian liturgy and by extension traditional RC mass comes directly from customs and practices of Second Temple Judaism, and in the epistles to Timothy the clerical hierarchy of deacon, priest, and bishop are clearly defined.

As a Protestant, Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. Whether it be chants or pop we are all experiencing a spiritual connection with the holy trinity.

They don't like that we do things differently and say that what they do is wrong. The devil is clearly at work, dividing us. Most division of opinion could be stopped by the Bible. The problem is that Catholicism doesn't hold the Bible above tradition and religion. I think that any Church based around the Bible is a good Church.

@@taternater7495 throughout the Holy Scripture, worship involves SACRIFICE. Protestant's view of worship isn't the true form of worship, singing songs of praise isn't enough. It is the Catholic Church that maintained that great tradition of offering sacrifice (at the Mass) of the Lamb of God (Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity)
@@ite_ad_iosep so give me some verses where it states that one cannot worship God without providing sacrifice. tell me where it says God doesn’t appreciate singing or praise, and in order to please him, you must kill an animal or burn something.
I converted last year! Please come home we’d love to have you! If there’s anything i can do to help hmu!
Read Leviticus; God gives very specific directions on how worship is to be conducted. The main aspect of worship is the sacrifice of an animal by the high priest and consumption of the flesh by the believers as participation in the worship of God.
Recall John that Baptist proclaiming, “Behold, the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world”. Recall Jesus saying repeatedly and emphatically, “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in Me and I in him.” (John 6).
In anticipation of your response i will point out 2 Peter 3:15: “His (Paul’s) writings contain things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable distort, as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction”
I'm Catholic and I added both to my playlist. Music honoring God is always good.
