I look forward to every update, even before I owned a GT350. Very informative. Thank you for everything you are sharing.

Hopefully more updates in the near future when I stop blowing up Miata motors 😂

For the foam type deadener, I found that rubbing alcohol worked pretty well to remove it.

I hope to never have to do it again, but if I do, I'll give it a shot!

From what I understand about acid dipping it's best used on older cars that have rusting problems as well as decades of small body damage and you want to restore it from the ground up. A newer vehicle or one that doesn't have rust problems doesn't need to be dipped like say an old Datsun 280 that sat in the open weather for the last 20 years.

Love your channel, it's nice to pop in when I can. I had a 2020 GT350R on order but cancelled 'cause of covid shutdowns. I went with a PP2 instead and been enjoying it for sure. The focus is hillclimb, though I have taken it to the track (oi, I am a defo a rookie, tires didn't last long, also got the infamous heated diff [I did upgrade the oil, but not enough for sures]).
You have a great attitude, I LOVE the home built them bro, the garage setup, the positive attitude, the DIY - I'd rather watch your channel and racing than a full out sponsored race team/event!
Keep up the work - maybe one day I'll buy another and build a racetrack devoted S550 :)

Thx, brother. I appreciate the kind words! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the PP2. They’re a great car for the money!

@@honeybadgershenanigans Aye, it wasn't a bad turn of fate... in 2020 they were still offering cash off the sticker price and .99% financing... the Shelby was cash (or 6-8%), and no discount.

First time with any project of this size. I’ve done much smaller odd jobs, but nothing like this. Dads quite a bit more experience, tho.

Do you know how much extra weight you’ve added. I’ve always wondered. I would think now a lot for how much stiffer it becomes

We put about 12-12.5 lbs worth of wire into it. Removed far more than that in seam sealer and sound deadener, tho (20ish lbs)

great idea. I just got an air compressor setup that would be perfect for an air chisel. Only 8 months too late ha

Nice! I'm out in Aggieland, but frequently at COTA. Did you acid dip your chassis? if not, HIGHLY recommend it
      Wish I had

I did not, early days, I'm just about done stripping the car down. It's there a place you know of that can that's somewhat local? There's a few mobile blasting companies around but would still have to dig stuff out of seams. Couldn't find any dipping shops so far.

    • @honeybadgershenanigans
      @honeybadgershenanigans  ปีที่แล้ว

I don’t. It’s why I didn’t do it. Felt more hassle than it was worth. Turns out that I wasn’t able to get a good portion of the seams clean enough to weld. We burnt through a lot. It was super frustrating. I’d drive to another state before I did it again.
It’s possible, but a lot of the welds will be ugly and it’ll be pretty frustrating
