Great stuff man. I really like your videos. I just subscribed. I have a few questions. I just started playing the game, and AT FIRST it wasn't too difficult on medium AI, wind, settings, etc. in career mode. I started in the Q school finals, then Korn Ferry Tour. Q school I shot even par to move on to Korn Ferry. Wow did it get hard. I couldn't seem to hit straight shots, lots of bogeys, and also some birdies/eagle chip ins, etc. Pars were hard to come by. I missed the cut 2 straight events scoring plus 3 and plus 4. My player has a the rhythm archetype. Doesn't that seem like a pretty low score to miss a cut? Should i turn down the AI to maybe 75 percent or less so the leaders don't score minus 10, etc? Thanks and keep the cool content coming.
On the amateur setting, this game plays exactly like I do for real when I'm on the course. I shot a 66 on my first outing in 2k23. I skipped the remaining 17 holes...I was happy with my score.

So glad I decided to watch this video before playing. Was planning on recalibrating my swing, now I don't think I will. Especially after reading in the comments there is no in-game reset for it.
it's hard enough for me to get a perfect swing because I have a jacked up thumb. May have to try out 3 click.

I'm in love with this game, it rewards skill, unlike every other game that just wants to hand hold.
Oh my gosh you wouldnt believe how crazy i have been going trying to figure out my rhythm with the Xbox. I thought I tried everything but just for the hell of it I changed my control setting to use the left thumb to swing like you did and also saw your method of the downswing on the controller was a lot different, so I tried it and hit 4 of 5 perfects, after hours and hours without a single one. This was extremely helpful thank you so much for posting this

3-click is the best method for me. I can't swing stick for crap. I've discovered as long as the draw/fade bars (after the power hold) are somewhat directly aligned you've made a good hit because they counteract each other.

Hey man, I just got the game and have been practicing with friends and on the in game practice mode. Your video has helped a lot. I still have a way to go to be considered good, but I play because I love golf and when I hit that perfect shot, it feels great!

Hey Ryan, is it only different greens you can change to? I've been trying to put myself in a sand trap in the practice facility and it doesn't seem to let me. By the way, I got my computer up and running again. Had to buy 2 new sticks of memory. Just started really playing this game. Thought I would see what it is like compared to the EA game. I do find it harder because of the swing mechanics in this game. Although I am getting better with practice. Currently playing on Pro but with the Pro-Am swing and I also have putt previews to learn the putting. Once I learn the putting, that will be gone. And once I spec up a little more, I'll go back to Pro swing. Best result so far is -1 under par on a 9 hole course that I use for practice. So getting there. Will start with Q-School once I get a bit better. Anyway, cheers Ryan, and keep getting those birds.

@@Jacob-qv5qf What do you mean timing system? Are you talking about the rhythm archetype? To change your archetype, go to My Player > golfer > hit right trigger and go to the archetype tab and then click on the rhythm archetype. Or were you talking about turning off swing tempo? You can turn swing tempo off in the difficulty settings menu.

I can honestly say after watching this, it really is all about makin sure that analog is moved down and up straight and Dow slow and fast. Prolly the hardest game I’ve played in awhile no doubt
Thx again for the video. Is there a way to read the greens (ondulations) without the gird?, there are some helping greens shades on long putts but nothing on putts under 20 feet for example. Regards
Happy to help! So yeah reading without the grids takes a lot of practice. The main places to look for initially are feet position relative to ball and then tilt of the flag. zcolbster (one of the best true sim players in the world) has a great video on how to read the greens without the grids. trying to understand the numbers given to skills. As an example my Driver head is a red power +8. Would it be an advantage to upgrade when possible to a red power head with a +12. What would be the advantage and would this apply to all skills.

Even though I played a ton of PGA 2K21 and I’m very skilled at the game I’m so glad I watched this video because I will not calibrate my swing all year now lol smart thinking.

Man same here. The one thing I noticed that is a huge difference is the ability to stop the back swing to get 98-100%. 21 it was a lot easier to hit that spot in the back swing so you could control it better but I’m glad these games are difficult now. It wasn’t shooting like -20 every round it’s actually a challenge

Great stuff man. I just subscribed to your channel. I have a question since you really seem to know your stuff. I started playing on pro am difficulty but turned distance control off. It seems like a good challenge. I am starting career mode, at the beginning, meaning Q school finals. I scored even and moved to Korn ferry Tour. Wow, I started a few rounds and it all of a sudden got tough to hit straight shots, and the competition seems really tough on medium difficulty AI, course, wind, etc. I JUST missed the cut 3 times, scoring a plus 3 and Plus 4. Doesn't that seem too hard? Should they be that skilled or should I turn down the AI to below 80 percent? Thanks and keep up the good video content.
Thank you Ken! Yeah I would lower the AI difficulty some, that way you are still winning some and having some good finishes. Because good finishes are key for leveling up your sponsors and getting new sponsors and for beating rivals. The game is very challenging, but in time you will keep getting better! The main thing is to have fun, so adjust the settings to a place where you are still enjoying the game! Have fun Ken!

Question about buying a driver, are they different distances like 2K21, or are they all the same distance and you just apply fittings? Also, I read that there are different driver sounds, depending on the driver. If so, did you do a video where I can hear the different sounds? Thanks again.
Thank you! So all the driver types are cosmetic only and do not have unique stats, but they do have unique sounds. My favorite sounding driver is the Cobra LTD you get by taking down Rickie Fowler as a rival in the career mode. So the stats for the clubs this year are changed through applying club fittings on each club. I actually have a video going over the club fittings and system that you may find helpful. I did amateur/beginner just to grind out gear and clubs, once I secured the bag after a couple days I immediately switched to pro. Pro is what your friend will play and all pvp

Appreciate you! So I have not experienced a glitchy backswing on the Xbox Series X, but have seen others report on it. Are you on performance or graphics quality mode? Most of the reports I see with backswing issues appear to be on Quality mode which is why I bring that up. Performance mode may help. If you are already on performance mode, I am not sure what would be causing that.

I see this game is impossible to play it, as most of the other golf games in the net, with a normal mouse and keyboard but at beginner level. The "digital" 3 click perfect shot (area) in PRO level is so so tiny than only by luck you can hit it. You could argue that practising & practising would make you good....I am positive you cannot do that with the digital 3 click swing.
Pity, that game should be more & more difficult by playing harder settings or faster meters rather than using particular swing methods.

I am also using the 3 click swing with a normal mouse & keyboard and agree, damn difficult to hit those tiny areas. Is there any way to make those small areas wider (or bigger)? perhaps with new equipment, balls, new level or others? Thanks you for the video also.
Yeah it is definitely a very challenging golf game. Using the Rhythm archetype will help make the perfect and good areas be much bigger. So if you are not on the rhythm loadout I would try it. Also, try to use club fittings that focus on timing, it really can help as well. One day it will all click with muscle memory and you will get it! Keep working at it and most of all have fun!
@3dmore631 So I recommend using the Rhythm archetype which really helps to make the perfect and good regions bigger. And also for equipment and fittings its best to focus on timing, swing plane, and transition to make all the perfect and good shot regions bigger. Also, be very careful with shot shaping, because any shot shaping adjustments make the perfect and good regions smaller. Also hitting overpowered shots makes the perfect and good region smaller, so try to avoid overpowers if you are struggling with tempo. Hope this helps!
@@GamerAbility Thx 4 the answer. Have set the rhythm archetype and check with a piece of tape in the driving range, where the perfect and good regions are. The good region is indeed just a bit bigger but the perfect region remains the same size. Never mind, I get the point about playing with the rhythm type.
After long time at the driving range and 4 or 5 courses played I remember hitting the perfect areas (up & down) once!! I wish the game would give the digital guys like me the chance to enjoy the game and being a bit competitive as much as the non digital users. Cheers
I've come over from EA PGA tour. Mainly due to the game crashing on PC and my golfer becoming corrupted in the EA cloud save... Good game otherwise.

No I do not believe this is possible
I wish I saw this first because some guys say calibrate, which I did. Now I can't hit a perfect for the life of me. 95% of my swings are fast. I can shoot under par playing the hook, but its a grind. Nice video.
Yeah the calibration can cause some strange things. The thing about calibration is that it rewards consistency, so hitting the same tempo 10 times will create a good calibration. But most of us are not very consistent, and not being consistent for the 10 swings can create some very inconsistent tempo. Respawn has a really good video on calibration which might help you get back closer to the default tempo, I highly recommend you check it out. Question coach. Do Archetype numbers stay constant? When I apply fittings to my club do they affect only the club? In other words, am I only what my archetype shows or do those fitting actually change my archetype numbers and if so where can i find them......thanks Go Reds!!!!!! Young and fast.
So the archetype does stay constant, unless you change your primary archetype. The only way to boost those stats is by adding club specs which will add stats above your primary archetype base stats. The boosted stats will show up when you apply your fittings, and will not actually show up in the archetype menu.

Loved the video. Watch a few different TH-cam tutorials and your is the best. My one question would be how do the lie % work.
Thank you for the kind words Dino! So I will actually be making a video on this soon which will help! So basically the game gives you a range of how much the lie will affect the ball percent wise, so you will not know exact. What I do is pick a percent in the middle and that is the percent that my club will fly out of that lie when I setup my shot. Now with a higher lie range stat this year you will have a more narrow percent. Hope this was helpful!
i actually angle my controller when i hold it...left side of the controller at about 10 oclock, right side at about 4 oclock and put the 1st knuckle of my thumb on the stick. seems to work pretty well to get a straight swing plane...but like you said, experiment. try different things and see what's most comfortable.

I found that when I pull the stick down about half way then push up I get a perfect perfect nine out of ten times

Love that! It is definitely a tough game to learn, but once you get it figured out it is a blast. Especially working to move up online ranked divisions. Have fun!
Is it easier to hit perfects as you level up? Notice your forgiveness meter is almost twice the size as mine
So I am using the rhythm archetype which makes that tempo region much bigger! It is my favorite archetype. You you can unlock club parts that are timing/tempo specific which will help as well as you level up.
Just started playing 2k23. The first day was well beyond frustrating 😂😂. But once you start to understand how everything works the game actually becomes pretty fun. Excited to get started on my mycareer today. But i must say take a day go into practice and get used to how everything works. Lol its like the ninja gaiden of golf. If you know.... You know lmao

I know I’m playing this game late lol. I do have a question if someone can help me. For some reason during going through the beginning of my career I saw an option to have the field shoot -10 per round. Now that I’m on PGA Tour, I can’t find that option anymore. I put it on Easy when I joined PGA to learn the game. Now that I’m better, can’t find that option again for Players to shoot -10. Is that only when join different tours or is it just me not being able to find that setting option again? Plzz help
Have thay taken the line out for putting used to have on 2k21 when you press x brings up the green line
The putt preview line is still in the game, but that line has been removed from online matchmaking. You can still turn it on in the difficulty settings for career and local rounds though.
I’m playing on pc and the mouse works much better for me. In fact by day two my swing is near perfect on pro. Seriously. Using mouse I put the pointer in the wind meter window, move straight down to the golf ball and then back up using the wind meter as my target coming up. I did adjust mouse dpi and sensitivity in game. It’s easier for me to keep my whole hand on the mouse straight versus my thumb on a controller.
I'm pretty sure the right meter in shot shaping (R) is loft, and up/down on (L) is spin cuz everything in the circle is about spin, left, right, back, front.
Yeah so the Left does change spin, left and right for draw and fade, but up and down primarily changes the launch angle of the ball at contact. It will add back spin inherently, but it’s primary function is lofting and delofting. While the Right stick adjustments do change flight slightly, it’s primary affect is backspin or frontspin. You can generate some insane spin with the right stick shot shaping with wedges and especially with pitch shots.

How to turn off these settings: The *circle* around the aiming marker? The suggested club distance aim marker for an upcoming shot? I can figure out my own adjusted distance for shots. ~ Thanks ~
So you have to turn aim marker to UI off in the difficulty settings to remove the circle. As to the suggested club and distance you cannot turn that off, the game will always default with a suggested club and distance for every shot. It is usually wrong anyways on shots, but is usually pretty accurate on putts.
When it tells you the distance of a shot or a club on the top right, what is the number in brackets below it. A 3 wood for example says 241, then (+20). What does mean? 241 yards plus it will roll 20 or bounce 20 or its 20 yards higher elevation or what?
I think that is showing the rollout distance after the carry. Depending on what difficulty setting you play on, that second number may not be there.

Yes it is the same tempo, but sometimes it feels different because of the swing animation. Now if you are hitting a partial shot (not full power) you have to really focus on slowing down your down swing slightly, if not fast typical occur.
On tempo swing I’ve already done a calibration and made it worse is there anyway of getting back the original calibration?

What are the icons in the top right corner, sometimes there is one or more lit up green? This is where it shows your club as you prepare your shot.
So those are showing your player skills and when one is active during a round they show lit up green.

3-click looks like it was supposed to be made for stick drift, except it makes the game like dead by daylight skill checks, whatever other example you wanna use for them.
even madden uses a meter sorta kickoff but it's not nearly that difficult looking.

I am just 3 Minutes into your Video and have exact the kind of information, i was locking for.
I am no good in 2k21, ordered 2k23 just because i wan't to test the 3 Click. I wan't realism and a +15 rounds, much room to improve and not a -13 Round on Amateur settings. I am willing to learn the basics an make my decisions, as if i am on the real course.

Don't know if you will respond as old video. But I just bought EA & 2k23, using 3 click on both. But I'm now going to use swing stick on both and change the difficulty, to Pro-AM and same with EA. Using your guides to improve.
Now my question is, which game do you prefer for realistic play? So before your shot you have to check everything before hitting, like lie angle, wind, elevation etc. Current settings 2k23 & EA really easy, however putting on EA still hard on easy.

Quick question do you have to acquire/purchase apparel in order to change how your golfer dresses in all 4 rounds? 2k21 gave you many free clothing items but it looks like that’s not the same in 2k23 am I correct?
So yeah you unlock more by leveling up sponsors in career mode, random drops after rounds/leveling up, or by buying with VC. You do not start with very many free ones.

So in the difficult settings menu just turn swing tempo off. Or you could change to the 3-click control type in the controls menu. Hope this helps!

So you cannot. But some people have said that you can get close to the default by hitting 5 very slow and 5 very fast shots in the calibration. The swing calibration rewards consistency. So if you feel like you can hit 10 shots at the exact same tempo, then it can be very useful.
I already did the swing calibration before finding this video and now I will forever have the shanks I can't get a perfect or anything close lol
Yeah many have actually done that as well, I wish they had a reset calibration option. It might be worth it to try to calibrate to like all very slows or 5 fast and 5 slows and see if that changes anything. Some have said that calibrating with the tempo turned off in the difficulty tab helps. I hope you can find a calibration to where you can hit a perfect soon!

So you would have to apply club fittings to the driver that increase the clubs power. You could also use the aviator golf balls which add distance as well.

Can someone please tell me how to do I get to play other courses, like St. Andrews and not just PGA Tour courses??
Also I completed a full season and began champion, so does the game play go back to the start again?

To play the ones you want just search them in a local match or private online match when selecting a course. You cannot use these courses in career mode though. You can sort by real life recreations on that webpage as well, but keep in mind a lot of the real course recreations have different names due to the designer not wanting the course to get removed.
Yeah once you finish the career mode, you can move straight into a new season after.

Yeah, so the best way to unlock new club parts and skill points is actually by playing the career mode. You get so much experience and rewards for taking down rivals and completing the sponsor tiers. Now you still have to be connected to the internet to play the career mode though, it is an always online internet required career mode.
I am having good time playing the game but the worst part for me is Downhill Shots some are 20-40 ft down witch are so hard just keep hitting to long or to short.
Is there a way to cancel mid 3-click? thats the only thing that kills me tbh

How do I switch out the ball packs. I’m currently using a default one but I have a level 32 that I want to replace it with and can’t figure it out and it’s driving me nuts.
So go to the locker in the My Player menu and click on the ball and you can change the ball type, which is the different ball sleeves that boost certain attributes, and you can also change the appearance if you click on ball appearance. Hope this helps!

I work on AVOIDING tempo. I try to swing so that tempo is never read from my swing
Hey, is it normal that the online mode is harder than the career mode? When I play online with my created player, the timing is much harder than in career mode.
So I think this has to do with online connection and server input delay/lag when playing online over career. I experience the same thing when changing from career to online matches. Tempo is much more inconsistent for me on online matches.
Swing calibration was gone after last patch
How do you hide the swing meter?
Settings > difficulty > and turn the swing power meter off.

So are you referring to the shot feedback at the bottom right? If you are playing 3-click button swing type it will be different and tempo will not be required or shown

On PS the triangle button no longer zooms in on drop point/landing point. Any suggestions?
It only works on the drive.
That is very strange. What difficulty setting are you playing on? Also check the camera settings and make sure putting and approach camera is turned off. Also make sure scout camera is turned on in the difficulty settings. Hope this helps!
Can anyone tell me how to play as a pro in the career mode? I read that you can but haven’t been able to figure out how!?
So you cannot play the career mode as a pro unfortunately, you can only use your created MyPlayer. You can only play as the pros in local match, private online match, top golf, and online casual matchmaking.

How do you reset swing calibration cuz I really feel same. It feels wonky since I did it
So unfortunately there is no way to reset the calibration once you calibrate. You could try recalibrating until you feel a tempo that feels better. The only way to go back to default swing calibration would be to completely delete your save game data, and uninstall/reinstall the game and restart.
@@GamerAbility well dang. Guess it really don't matter I just recalibrated it tonight for first time. So will just have to go back re do it and just leave it till muscle memory kicks in again
@@GamerAbility you seem to play a lot tho. Have you been getting disconnected alot? Cuz I do and I have like 800 download 25 upload for internet and whether I'm in my career or playing online I get kicked out a crap ton
@@MVRosie So a lot of others have been having this same issue. I have not been disconnected much personally. They must be having some server issues in some regions. Hopefully this gets sorted out quickly because that would be so frustrating.
