People are loosing their family homes due to sky high taxes... poverty and crime is only going to increase.
The current jail looks like a modern architectural masterpiece. Seems like they spent your money the wrong way the first time, they don’t get a second chance.
The residents of New Orleans WILL VOTE to increase their property taxes thinking this will fix the crime issues. Increasing taxes in the BIG EASY has never fixed anything. Nothing is going to get better. But, some connected individuals will have a little more money in the bank accounts.

The sherriff does need more money, but getting notice about it a week prior to early voting was NOT th way.

I don't understand with all the money that flows through New Orleans, literally billions a year from tourism alone, that the victims of criminals then need to foot the bill for prison renovations and tablets. Wait now that I said it, it does makes sense that they would rather take your money. Very on brand for N.O.
75% of all hotel taxes do not go to new orleans, and instead go to the various entities. Only 16% goes to the city itself. And the city only gets 5% on sales tax. Also, its a total of 1.25 billion , and most of that is not tourism at all.
Last I checked 9.45 % is higher than 5. So if the city receives around $279,733,000 for their cut every year why the grift?

Considering how everyone in N.O. is suffering economically, raising taxes is larceny. I think its time for a recall on this "public servant".
