Tommy was representing for all Latinos like me who loved street skating and he did it smooth and with style, him Barbee and Saiz where my fav Powell boys back then
I just stumbled across Tommy's work as a musician. What an absolute legend this man is. His skating takes me back to my formative years now his tunes have bought new joy to my being. Guerrero you are my hero❤
Where it all started for me. I remember going to SF in the mid-80's and wanting to skate the Hilltop Dish. I went into Skates on Haight with my parents to try and find out where it was. No one in the shoo would tell us where it was. They said it wasn't safe. Makes sense now. This will always be one of my all-time favorite SF parts 🍻
The essence of street skating - alone, following the flow of the day and the concrete in front of you. Pure joyful freedom. To me, this is what skating is about - TG is a legend.
We spent so much time trying to find terrain like this and trying to recreate this scene. Big ramps weren’t accessible. This scene made the sport available to kids in Middle America.
This is what started it all because you could go out and ride the exact same way, not as smooth but you could try and there was no way you wernt gonna try after watching this.
Some Serious throw backs , the first deck I ever laid eyes on was a Powell ,, Dragon on top ,, I was 8 years old lol , this was 84 Va Beach ,, I wanted one but back then ,,the whole board , trucks , wheels ,, back then was 300 ,, lol my mother in no way would lay out a months rent for a skate board ,, so ,, I got a Nash board next Christmas, toys R us lol ,, i rode that Nash till the wheels fell off !! lol ,, moms are. T he best !
With all the evolution that has occurred in skating, I’d still just love to see a video that highlights big, long lines that guys are skating. You know? Like that Miles Silvas line through downtown LA for that Adidas commercial. Would love to see a whole video of that sort of thing, but with the style and groove and nonchalance of how these guys did it way back in the day. If it’s out there and someone knows, please let me in on it. If there’s nothing like that out there yet, please skateboarding gods… make it so.
I get all fluttery inside watchin this. And great is the “night stalker beware” graffiti. He was up there doin his shit at the time before heading back down and getting the living shit kicked out of his head. “Skating always came with the territory.” 🤣
@@montanaplease Horseshit, and you fucking know it. Also, gas was cheaper cause nobody was driving because Orange Mussolini totally miss handled the Covid Pandemic and got over a million Americans killed. Go preach your false messiah somewhere else, this is a skating thread you brainless sheep.
His music is some of the very best.
💯💯💯

DOGTOWN boys were good too
Street skating made the sport accessible for us Middle America kids too.
I always looked at Tony Hawk representing us white kids
The ollie at 1:44 is massive for 1985
Don’t forget that this was probably filmed in’84. I remember me and my friends rewinding it over and over.
Yeah, also the lien boneless at 1:28 was very progressive for 84.

I would watch this over and over. His ride was genuine AF, when I was a kid and still is. And I was so stoked on his board.

Best part ever
Watching this at 15 years old gripped my heart. I loved skating. T.G. was my fav.
Tommy was always rad.
Also, the Starsky and Hutch Pinto at 2:40 is hilarious. Maybe you need to be old as shit like me to appreciate it.
I saw that starsky and hutch pinto in the peninsula in 96
Nice to see this again. I learned how to ollie by watching this part over and over. Tommy G!!!!!
Atta boy, 80's kid
So smooth!!
It would be hard to express how heavy this was when it came out. We all wanted to do this. And we sure tried but we couldn't come close.
The first legit street part in a skate video. Tommy was/is the man!!
Filmed in 1 day too.
There's no school like the old school all the rest is...
This takes spirit.

Also, Tommy Guerrero is the man. You should check out his music if you haven’t yet. Excellent stuff.
Check out Grant Taylor's part in Nike SB's "Constant."

I thought that board he was riding was sick back then and I still think so.
I know but what is it??
I think he might’ve done possibly 10 actual tricks in that entire clip
Style...
Because he squats down 8” off the ground after every trick ?
Smooth!
💚🖤
He should redo this part 2020! Would be epic!
He did it a few years.
