Also, I love your new set design. It’s vibrant and relaxing. I miss your collection of ASOIAF memorabilia though. Would you consider adding 1 or 2 pieces that you change out every so often. It would be like a wonderful little surprise and could also be thematic to your subject. Maybe you could say a quick word or two about the piece you pick out. Just a suggestion. Love it tho, it’s beautiful! Thanks for your work! It’s getting us all through the new dark nights that are full of political terrors! 😊
you might touch on this, but I saw a theory the other day that the character that GRRM means when he says he regrets killing someone was Aemon, because he would have had so much information that is lost now

The passage where Aemon relieves he’s a Targ was so good in the book, the show didn’t do to bad with it., i felt for the character, him stuck at the wall hearing everything bad happening to his family stuck there cant do anything about it 😭
I think prior to Aemon knowing about Dany and her dragons he has suspicion that Jon Snow was a Targaryen. However, I think Aemon started to doubt himself in that Dany is one of the Prince that was Promised in lieu of Jon Snow. That Jon Snow in Aemon mind was being question is the Prince that was Promise. With the Prince that was Promise it interpretation is that the it's singular figure and it clashes with the fact there is going be Three figures and people that will make the Prince that was Promise.
Never realized this till you mentioned, its another similarity between Jon and Fitz (from Realm of the Elderlings), two bastards who never thought they'd lead in any way, raised by their uncles who also never thought they'd rule either daaaamn
"Confusing repressing childish desires with repressing all desires." Aemon screwed that conversation up. When was Jon ever allowed to be a child? The abuse he received from Catlyn made sure of that. He had very few desires that didn't involve getting away and getting a position of authority and when he gets it Aemon starts criticizing him.
I imagine his long life was because he was waiting for TPTWP, and once he felt they had come was ready to pass on. Must have also been nice for him, meant his choices and fate were not in vain. It wasn't all for nothing.
Thanks, David, for another excellent video. Maester Aemon is a fascinating character. Imagine spending 67 years in a frozen wasteland, in a penal colony, albeit in a privileged position. By the way, I love your jeans!

Agreed. I’m convinced it should include a team of learned you tubers like David lightbringer, grey waste Tim, crowfoods daughter, and a few others. People who understand the vast history and symbology and who will respect the integrity of the plot.
