Hendrix had the big swagger/no-care attitude in his musical approach but NOT in his playing. Hendrix had good musical taste to knowing what worked and what didn't. Hendrix's 'All along the watchtower' is a classic prime example. shows in this song. This song showed Hendrix had that all important GROOVE in spades.
His years of playing with other greats prior to him becoming the 'big thing' really showed too - get that groove going because it's the song that matters. A good discussion and video. The Hendrix doll keeps flagging doobies LOL - not the 'Brothers' of course. Love your channel and your guitar music appreciation. Keep pluggin'.
You are so bang on about the groove thing. That is massively important. I'm always going on to my students about getting music to groove properly. It's a total make or break thing for the tune. Glad you are enjoying the channel and the doobie comments! Thanks!
Without this song you wouldn't have the sixties , if you know what I mean .
It's a truly iconic tune for sure!
Very well explained lesson as always
Thanks and a big welcome to the Patreon page! Shout with any content you want seeing on there!

You are welcome!
Both of the link for the books take you to a non existent page!
Thank you! Fixed now.
Do you show the wrong graphic for position 1 "A" shape barre chord scale?
Rats! Yes you are correct. That's super annoying. Thanks for pointing it out. God knows how I didn't notice it in editing! It's too late now, but I maybe able to chop that bit out, will have to have a closer look. Thanks again!
The stupid thing is I spent ages figuring how to get scale diag in the speech bubble then I go and put the wrong scale in there. Durrrrrr!
@@timdaleybluesguitar101 hopefully you can correct it/fix it. I neglected to say I love your videos, they help so much. Thank you.
@@44scoots Sorted it, it jumps a little now but that's the best I can do as I have to use TH-cam's editor once it's uploaded, but it's better than a mistake! Thanks again and really appreciate the comment re you loving my videos, means a lot man!
Another great lesson thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Great easy lesson thanks
You are welcome!
Love this awesome
Big thanks as always!
Please do a lesson on the purple haze guitar solo Theory lesson because I want to know why Hendrix uses Modal scale. If you can make a lesson also about how can a guitarist in real time know if the chords are in a key so you pick one scale as the overall key. There must be some tricks and techniques of thinking skills to use to think of playing a scale of the overall key instead of playing a different key per each chord. The hard part is the scale of the key better fit and match for all the chords in the chord progression or you're going to get a lot of sour notes. When JAMing different chord progressions this is a hard thing to do in real time to know if ONE scale is going to work over the whole entire chord progression without hitting a bunch of sour notes.
Yeah Purple Haze might well be a good one for a future lesson. I think generally Hendrix often followed the chords when he noodled over the vs or chs of a song but played in the main key when soloing.
@@timdaleybluesguitar101 To play your guitar solos in key you would have to add in those accidental notes of the key to the pentatonic box which is called Applied pentatonic boxes. Most guitarist don't add in those extra notes to the pentatonic boxes to play in the overall key. This is a subject lesson to go over in your next video
