- I was saddened to see no Nintendogs on the Nintendo Switch, which led me to simply go back to the basic games and to also play what was on the Switch, Little Friends: Dogs & Cats. I saw with my own eyes what makes a classic great pet simulation game like Nintendogs, and why it walked only so Little Friends could run and then crash. :') Basically, I revisited Nintendogs Dashchund and Friends, Chihuahua and Friends, and Dalmatian and Friends. There's another game: Lab and Friends (or Shiba and Friends for Japan). And they're super fun games. The Nintendo DS and the Nintendo 3DS featured these amazing games. And we still remember them! Hoping our Nintendogs are okay. Even though we haven't visited our Nintendogs in years. Little Friends is a good game for the first ten minutes but after that, not so much. Just my opinion though!! Go check it out if you'd like. :) But this was just a video mostly about Nintendogs, the best pet simulation game created. Thanks Pik, thanks Miyamoto.

I remember my dog ate trash while on a walk and the music distorted and I started crying lmaooo
My favorite memory of Nintendogs was playing it with my little brother and him getting frustrated every time he lost a competition because "even when you lose, he (the announcer) smiles" lol. My mom and I still laugh at that oversight.

This video needs to blow up! My sister got a DS for Christmas since that's what's "vintage" now lmao. I bought us both a copy of lab and friends since I sadly lost my own years ago, but I genuinely tried to metagame it as a kid. I had like 10 dogs at a time and would buy 100 dry foods at once. I tried time traveling multiple times. Lord forgive my sins but I was an unhinged child. That being said... my favorite dog was a husky named Bolt :)

and my sister has a 3ds with nintendogs dalmatian and friends and we could play together
I literally just bought a DSi this week to do just that!!
And my parents knew i wanted the game so i got one alongside a 3ds for chrismas :D
Loved this game as a kid, it was the first Nintendo game I ever owned! My first dog was a chihuahua who eventually became an agility trial master. I had a really long streak of championship wins with him.

I play the 3DS one. I’ve got a Shiba that’s kind of patterned like a Husky named Rowan, a Husky that’s grey and white named Diamond, and a black standard cat with blue eyes named Sapphire.

5:11 The Italian version had "Luna, Toby, Pepe". I wonder if other languages had different name examples too.
Also, I remember the competitions hosts were named Teo Canini and Gino La Zampa in Italian.

The German version had „Bello, Waldi, Betty“ and the competition hosts name were Ted Rumsworth and Archie Hubbs 😂😅

I grew up with these games with my brothers. We used to ask mum to look after them when we were at school (we actually had dogs too so it helped us with them but now I like to buy old games and see the saves... I never delete the dogs or the owners details. I look after them
Still love this game to this day. I still got my original copy of the game with my first dog Amelia. She's a Dachshund ^^

You know a DS game was so good when you saved up and brought extra copies as a kid! Seriously, I got Nintendogs Dachshund, Chihuahua, Dalmatian, and Lab! Still have them to this day 😭 It was my comfort game (and helped me with overcoming my fear of dogs lmao)
I'm still playing this game to this day. Im also guilty of loving and owning the Boxer dog. In my opinion they are amazing, I do wish the ears weren't cropped but their still really cute! I died at the part when you were naming them and the demon came out 😂.

A neighbor of mine had a really mean Boxer that used to sneak through the woods onto my family’s property and attacked a friend of mine.
My twin sister and I had all three versions of the original games! We spent every weekend at a campground in Indiana. After doing chores (walking our mutt named Penny, finding kindling for the fire pit, etc.), we would spend our days swapping between riding our bikes, playing Sonic Battle on our Gameboy SP’s, and playing each copy of Nintendogs! Such great memories! My three favorite dogs were my Boxers: Stone, Astro, and Jenna. The game programmed the breeds to have a couple different barks. Astro had a pretty normal bark, but Stone and Jenna had this goofy, squeaky bark that gave them so much charm! I miss them so much! While I still have my original copies, it’s hard to go back and check on dogs that have since forgotten the sound of your voice, especially since your voice changes. Sure, you can tap the screen and make them “like” you again, but it’s not the same. I love that people find enjoyment in returning to their old dogs a decade later, but it’s something I could never do. Maybe it’s naïve of me, but I want my childhood memories of playing with my OG virtual pets to remain pure and happy. Nintendogs is a franchise I will love forever. I can’t see myself ever returning to the original, but the sequel is worth it. Your dogs don’t forget or hate you! I still check on those dogs now and then! My favorite dog is Henson, a black and white pug who knows every trick and holds the Nintendo Cup in every category!
I can see why Nintendogs hasn’t found a modern home on the Switch, but it would be amazing to see a port someday!

Yeah there was a lot of charm in Nintendogs, each dog had their own unique personality just like real dogs. I would love to see a new Nintendogs for Nintendo's next console if it comes with a microphone so you can call their names and give them voice commands.
My parents had a Boxer named Buddy when I was a baby who would always run away and my dad would have to find him. Sometimes he’d run away with my uncle’s dog Bruce, who was a Shiba Inu. My first word was “Buddy” which I pronounced “Uddy” from my mom yelling at the dog so much. I played this game religiously as a kid too. The Boxer we had looked quite similar to the ones in the Chihuahua and Dalmatian versions of Nintendogs, except in the game, the dogs’ ears were cropped, while Buddy’s ears were kept the way they were. But they still docked his tail. I’m actually against eat cropping in dogs, not just because it’s cruel, but also because it makes them look menacing.
I listened to the soundtrack of this game a week ago, and it reminded me of the Mario karts.. the hats and so much more!
Even as an adult I am just nothing but glad that I bought this game and played it SO much, this game is just such a gem :D

had a dog i remember on nintendogs called colin, he was a miniature schnauzer and he was trained to be perfect in everything, pretty sure me and my mother had him in that game for real life years, then i left my cartridge at a friends across the road from me by accident during a sleepover and couldnt find it for the life of me, turns out said friends sister took it just to spite me and deleted my dog off of the face of the earth by putting him up for adoption as well as most of my other dogs, i will never forget colin and i hope whoever adopted him next, be them digital or real, be good to him...
This game was my childhood for so many years. I could never have a pet so I was ALWAYS playing pet games. This one was def my favorite even though I'm more of a cat person. My cousin and I used to play together all the time; I had dachshund and friends, and my favorite dog was a golden retriever I named Brownie, as well as a sheltie I named Benji after the movie series I obsessively watched. They were both multi-time champions in the agility trials, and I honestly miss them. I lost the original cartridge many years ago, but I got a used one a few years back and I've been playing every so often. Even as a twenty-year-old with my own pet cat, I still adore this game.
I remember recently opening my original ds with my old save. Back then i recreated my real dogs in the game, thats one of the last things i have to remember them.
I remember selling a dog (brownie) and I ended up crying lol then on another game I named a dog brownie and my second dog what I also deleted (golden) but my first dog daisy is still alive in my DS also I remember naming one dog chicken and the other samwich
Me and my brother played Nintendogs so much back then we where kids, i remember that i had two chiwawa's one was called adef (yes, i was a stupid kid) a short white hair and Waldi, a long brown hair. I never settled on a third one i always had these 2. My Brother had a miniature Schnauzer, a Labrador and a Husky. He was also very competitive about it and told me numerous times that my dogs are terrible and i should get me new ones. But no matter what he said i kept them and cared for them. The best house i ever got was the beach one, since i bought max stacks of every item and never sold the rare Walking presents.

I gave away to my little cousin my old Nintendo DSi and my 3DS, because I wasn’t playing anymore (turns out he lost both of them lmao). Since the start of 2023 I thought about the games I played with my Nintendo, especially the DSi since it was the first one I ever got, and felt so sad to not play anymore, as it was one of the best childhood memories I had. I loved playing with my cousins, meeting with our virtual dogs etc.; at the start of 2024 I was so eager to get a new Nintendo, but not the Nintendo Switch ‘cause I don’t really like it. So I bought it from someone who didn’t want theirs anymore, and now I am the happiest person on hearth ‘cause I can still play my favourite game: Nintendo’s (Dalmatian & Friends ❤️).

In the lab and friends I was able to get a black one , and I think it’s the only game you can find the antler ears on a walk 😅

I loved this game so much as a kid! It was the first nintendo game I got. I still have my original nintendogs save. I had one dog for each competiton and I remember being so proud of them when they won the championships 😂.. I should probably check on them they haven't been fed in yearrss

And there’s also a ton of fur patterns to choose between for the dogs and cats at the kennel. More than that new Switch game that copied so much from it has, I think.
Bought a 3ds off of someone on marketplace the other day, it came witj a copy of nintendogs (not cleared) so now I've inherited their shibu, (his name is barley!) :)

Nintendogs is still one of my favorites games ever really, I had chihuahua and friends, and I was never bored from It. My original data got corrupted though and I lost my cartridge. I had bought +cats later on, but to me It was a disappointment compared to the original. Rip Litchi the chihuahua.

9:00 lol no 1. I don't want to talk to strangers when I'm walking my dogs, I'm listening to music. 2. letting your dog walk up to other dogs is impolite and if your dog walks up to the wrong dog they can get attacked and become reactive or aggressive. Also it encourages leash pulling haha
I'm getting a New 3DS XL soon. First time I've had a DS in like 13 years so I'm really excited to get back into Nintendogs
It was basically digipets on steroids. Fantastic tool for teaching kids how to own a dog. I named mine snowball. I should revisit the game sometime.

“I won’t name him that though, I’ll name him Buster.” Coincidentally, that was the name of my actual family pet beagle. It also reminded of all the nonsensical names for personal Nintendogs, like my Dalmatian named Marven (yes that’s how I spelled it, Marvin) and my white pug named Fawful (I named after the fan favorite dwarf scientist from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga for GBA). I even give Fawful a Luigi hat and rainbow wig for Marven. I also fell in love💕 with the song for when I’d walk my dog, it’s just the perfect combination of catchy and serene🥰. Anyways, loved💕 the video.

Had a white one (terrier?) but I don't remember her name. I perfected all 3 of the competitions with her, and even taught her "have fun" (bows and wiggles her butt). She was my favourite.
So many good memories with that game.

Nintendogs + Cats wasn't as great as the original, it did have many of the flaws from the Switch game. The original Nintendogs was the best
