I like drawing fanart, usually it's easier for me to draw characters I already know rather than make something up and draw something that looks bad. Then again, I can get better if I don't draw more haha.

I'm trying to remember the last time I drew fanart. I would draw fan art all the time when I was younger, but now I just kinda draw things from books or games because I'm making a comic for those. Which is okay, because fan art helps you improve, but it also puts that work mindset on it, so you kinda forget it's something fun. I've been really struggling with making art for fun lately and I think I should draw more fanart of the things I love.

I recently participated to a secret santa quarantine event on discord, were participants sent their characters and then they get randomly prompted other's people charters I had to do 3 but I found it was very nice way to improve the way I draw, like body proportions and colouring, so I ended up doing 10 bonus gifts in 3 weeks, with some more on the way I before this event I had the habit to imitate the ref art style, but this event helped me on having a more of a personal style, NOTHING MAJOR, i've still A LOT to learn, but it gave me a real sense of improvement

I made fanart of a online comic and actually got the author to comment on my work. I mean, he does seem to do that and cares about his fans, so it should not be a shock. But it really made me feel better about my work especially as it was my first all digital work. Once my work opens back up, I'll have to sub his patron for a few months.

Actually, I renembered that there were two fanarts that the artists saw and liked it. One is Kasey Golden, a famous youtuber artist, and Simon Longnight, who played Thomas Jefferson and Lafayette in Hamilton Los Angeles.
John Loren's shapes are so good, I love your take on his gobbo. The Pikmin take was an inspired brainwave, and the posing on those little guys was great. And Flopnar is so good! I love how well you pushed Cam's design! Edit: the link to Dina Norlund's Instagram is missing the 'd' at the end (the link doesn't go anywhere else, thankfully)
This is a great thing to promote. I totally agree that supporting smaller creators and showing how much you appreciate them/their characters by creating fanart is much more meaningful than making fanart of some multi-millionaire company (altho thats still cute)

Here's a thing that many people do within the MCYT community, since Minecraft is too blocky to appreciate from the outsidem people tend to design their own versions, and it's GREAT. So many different vibes if you just look up "Technoblade fanart" You get people who go for the elegant look, you get people who go for the barbaric look, you get shapeshifters, you get an anthro pig, it's amazing honestly with how diverse it is. (and how much people stretch his design language in particular)
:) yes. I recently was on Artfight (closed now :() and fan art of other’s characters ABSOLUTELY makes an impact! I’m a big fan of Wings of Fire, and a lot of people have fan characters in that universe (with beautiful designs too!) so, best of both worlds!

I find it so much easier to draw other people’s characters than my own! I have images of my characters in my head which I can never seem to do justice, while with other people’s characters, I don’t have to meet the perfect idealized version of them in my head, just the version that is already on paper and that I can look at for reference

Planning to make a big video game and movie of the same story even write a books about it, but I need art and concepts of the characters first so I need to know what programs to start. I plan for this Universe to be as big as Starwars, Cool like Star Trek and simular to Halo so I need a lot of art. It will be about these humanoid 3rd civilization alien race finding earth and encountering humans, being peaceful they run into problems when there old enemy another futuristic 3rd civilization alien race of humanoid reptilians envade earth killing the human population and the peaceful aliens help humans to fight off these reptilian humans.

Even crappy/amateur fan-art make more impact than professional one. So, it's the audience that make the fan-art impactful, not the other way around. I am not looking for popularity, I was drawing for myself. Even if I admit I am jealous of others popularity and even those who have poorer art-style than mine.
