- Community members have closed a spaza shop in Naledi, Soweto, after five children died from suspected food poisoning. It's alleged that the children became unwell after eating snacks from local spaza shops. Newzroom Afrika's Ziniko Mhlaba speaks to one aggrieved resident.

Dudula tried to solve this problem but Soweto people sided with foreign shops
Dudula is an extortionist organization.

People have long been told not to buy from these people.
My heart goes to the kids who lost their lives.
May their souls rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
People of Naledi chase those ppl close all this spaza no government will fight for you we are on our own
How many children should die until our people realize not to buy from these shops😢
Where is ANC in this situation, they do not want these Spazas to be closed, this is the second time accident like this happen in Naledi and people entrusted with power are quiet.
Local elections are coming ANC has to take back seat, people who are prepared to lead must come to the open we give them power.
Naledi, the same thing happened last year. What are they still doing here?
The landlords are earning huge rental and getting a cut from what's sold. The landlords need to account, renting to these people. They are the enablers.
I concur with you
Nje
My deepest condolences goes to the family
Why do you keep buying there?
😮
Close proximity.
Town ships don't have access to other facilities like shopping centres. Even if they did, they will be located far whilst a spaza shop would be just at a street corner.
As black South Africans we should be having our own production and supply chain conveyer belts that involves warehouses and processing plants.
When communities close these spaza shops there is no clear plan on who will supply the market that is there.
Exactly!
They are on a mission!!!
It looks like history keeps on repeating itself. We agreed on not buying from foreigners especially food that expired.
Where must they buy?
@@HUNCHO46664 if south Africans people are able to come together for stokvels make saving into the bank then they can use the same money to open spaza shops. They save from R200 per month that can buy a van Toyota Hilux to buy stock that can distribute stock in different locations. It's the same thing the foreigners do you'll always find the same person at the shop others are responsible for driving a van and buying stock at Makro quality.
@@HUNCHO46664 we must use stokvels money to open spaza shops. If people are able to save R200 per month then can buy a van Toyota Hilux that distributes in all spaza shops various locations. Where are the government officials that are supposed to protect S Africans

Where is the councilor of the area?where is SAPS yho this is painful hle😢
Take the same biscuits and let the spaza shop owner eat also.....one thing for sure we as black south african we are not united , everybody is doing as they want with us and we are ok......
True that's why the ANC had no qualms voting in favour of spaza shops in KZN council. You have not punished them hard enough. Where is Lesufi and Dada Morena who claim they there for Black South Africans.
If locals don't sell there. That spaza will reopen next week.
I'm sorry 🙏. Is this true 🤔
For me the question is how long must this go on and the government is not doing anything tackle the problem.?
Does anyone know how many children died because of the food poisoning?
Can government please do their jobs and sort this out.
Better that these tuck shops are shut down if the problem can't be solved 🤷
First of all how did they get into this country. Are refugees? Do they qualify to be refugees in SA? Or are they investors? Do they have the qualifications to be regarded as investors in SA? All those answers are a no. That was the first thing government could have acted on long ago
But mphakathi what about the countless companies that are making snacks and biscuits which are not regulated and checked for compliance by labour department and food counsils
Landlord are the problem..
They are selling our country.
This problem won't end as long as these guys still have their manufacturing factories.
If anything those factories should be shutdown because even our own people will stock from those factories as they happen to be cheap.
Abantu basesoweto bathe bafuna babuye abomyfriend manje babuyile basazobulala yekelani ukuthenga kubo
Why does this keep on happening the children are dying almost everyday why yooh
I hope they don't destroy the evidence , we need enough forensic evidence to make a strong case. The same happened last year.

How many more until you realize that there's a huge problem at hand?
Is it a collective punishment? when these come in, they are causing problems in mostly black South African communities.
When you raise these issues backed with facts, you get people calling you names. Most of those people ain't even from those areas so they're less likely to experience that.
They're literally talking from high horses smh.
