This journey to became an Actuary is sooo long and insane, my Gosh i had no idea! Girl be proud of yourself, you've accomplished so much already!
The application process is crazy. Major kudos to you for your resilience I think I would be at breaking point!
That 1 year associate thing doesn’t make sense. So you’re just going to be sitting having completed all the exams but without the title😕so a qualified actuary but not. It’s like being in a romantic relationship without the title💔
I'm 100% sure it's so that companies can pay people less for a year. The same people that run these institutes have stakes in these companies
They should have stressed this point in the application process; a simple "have you done this?" pre-submission checklist would have sufficed. FWIW, I certainly admire your perseverance and positivity. Cheers!

I’m training to become a chartered accountant and I can absolutely relate to the boatload of hoops you have to jump through. It’s so easy to get focused on exams (since they’re what actually matters) and miss one of the many tickbox exercises that are required to qualify.

So sorry to hear about the rejection :( these things do happen and your feelings of frustration are totally valid right now. Had you done the stage 2 exam while balancing your daytime client work and other exam revision though, it would've undeniably been even more stressful so this may have actually been a blessing in disguise! I know the journey still seems very long ahead, but don't ever forget that you have come so far already. The cumulative time spent in these last 3 years, plus your final year or so of studying will amount to a small proportion in comparison to the decades of fellowship work that you will be doing in decades to come! Your work ethic is absolutely outstanding and your sheer determination through everything has been absolutely commendable. We will all be supporting you continuously and we are already so proud of you! Go Paige!
hey paige i never event went to uni but your vids are awesome, there's probably lots of people where you want to get to that have stumbled along the way and career stumbling is a natural thing that happens to lots of people, keep your head up and i'm sure you'll be fine 👍

Happened to me with my professional qualification. They rejected my application as I hadn't completed the online ethics learning. A bit frustrating.

Swear we have to jump so many hoops to have the same jobs our parents and grandparents had. It's like we achieve things and they keep moving the damn goalpost. Effing ridiculous.

Paige, I am so sorry that your application form got rejected. Whatever happened is not your fault. They should had told you that you needed to the Professional Course No. 2. You did quite well in passing 11 out of 13 actuary exams which is very good.
Sorry for the delay this is causing for your career goals. but, as always you have a very workable plan for final resolution. Hindsight is easy to think about, but don't, just keep on the path. :o)
I’ve following your channel from day one at Cambridge (yes, that may sound a little creepy). You are “high speed low drag” a very high functioning and high achieving person. Congratulations !! You don’t suffer unnecessarily roadblocks well. Congratulations !! That being said, it’s part of the experience and you of course understand that. You will accomplish much and are very likely to ride high in any organization. If your present situation doesn’t resolve itself on your timeline, leave. You are the complete package. You know since the private sector is going into space ….. they just might need a Cambridge Astrophysicist.

Sorry for my ignorance but what’s the issue with the delay to qualifying? Does it prevent promotion/getting another role or just the timelines aren’t what you had originally planned for???
I think it is linked to promotion and quite a different salary
I suspect that at least your employers might effectively treat you as a qualified actuary from the point you pass all the exams (and adjust your salary?😊) rather than the waiting until you are formally able to become a Fellow of IFoA.
There's no way a company is giving you a hefty pay raise unless they absolutely have to lmfao
It's amazing how long it takes to become an Actuary. How many times can you take the exams or the units you need to do if you do not pass them? (Sorry for the long question)
What a joke, they should've told you that before you applied! A simple check list on their website would help. Sorry you've gone through this. I wish you luck!!

Don't worry. It is a small hiccup. It happens. With the stress of exams and work, it is not possible to remember or know everything. You have a strong will power and you are resilient. You will come out with flying colours.

This is insane and super frustrating.....
Sorry to hear about the rejected application! I wouldn’t be too harsh on yourself; in my eyes employers should be providing information about that route. The issue is that a lot of more senior actuaries qualified when the syllabus was quite different, so they often don’t understand that Associateship has all of its requirements (e.g. OPAT/Stage1, Stage2, PPD, including mandatories). As a result, some students end up in a difficult place because line managers are often there to do the reminders/help with these things.
Unlucky, really, and obviously Stage 2 is probably the least known part of qualifying, and few students should know they exist (I’d personally be impressed if a grad knew the exam structure and that PPD was a thing)
This is why i never went into Actuary route after maths degree. Too long. Did Masters in finance and then onto commodity trader with hedge fund. Actuary route is stable career, unlike investment banking or hedge funds, but has its negatives.
You should do CFA. This way you have the option to get into Risk Management.
@@hansanaik3835 no. A top masters degree is far better. Goes deeper into certain topics, can do some coding or more up to date material etc. Anyone can sign up for CFA but at a top university only limited places and small % admitted. CFA covers many topics like accounting in too much detail etc. CFA is a lot of material but not deep or selective. It's good for asset management but is always best if you can do a top Masters and then just micro study any topics externally. Only reason low pass rates is just to numbers signing up : many poor candidates from weak universities or low degree grades etc.
@@hansanaik3835 many careers in investment banking, financial trading, quant trading, fund management , private equity etc would be better with a top Masters or top 20 MBA. CFA only if in niche area like Asset management and your company paying , plus plan on staying in that sector for a long time .

You can do this, it's another challenge that you can pass easily 😊 it's not your fault but you will pass everything successfully

Hmm maybe a strange question but how did you not know there was a Stage 2. Don't worry too much time these days passes so quickly and before you know it will all be over.

Stage 2 is easy. Just done it myself. Just spend 15 minutes each night chatting in the forums.

People say that about every job. But AI is nowhere near the level of critical thinking, creativity and problem solving demonstrated by bright humans. It just recycles everything we've done on the internet
@TheOpinionCompany - She has a lot of options in the financial industry with the Actuarial designation. So AI or no AI, it is not a problem. She is good in Mathematics, has business knowledge and experience, knows Python, R and machine learning, has good communications skills, confidence and she is very close to getting her designation. So her opportunities are endless.
