Care taking for Huntington’s is very hard. I think my husband is mid to late stage. He can barely walk and I do everything for him now. He went through the horrible mental and behavioral phase, but is sweet and kind now. He’s very appreciative of what I do. I feel overwhelmed by having my days broken into so many pieces, but l do get to put in a little me time here and there.
@@kellyreid6688 Even in OUR relationship (which is still VERY functional emotionally), we have breaks with reality. Hang in there, and cherish the moments of lucidity!
Wow! Is this ONLY 2 years ago?! What a difference... we are currently in the middle of Stage 4. The Good Fight continues... Pam has slipped considerably this past 3-4 months, but the 'roller coaster effect' continues and she is struggling to a mini-comeback. You never know... Is there ANYBODY on the original film team that can help us get the entire (very long) original interview with me in the park? We would love to have it for the family archives. Who do I need to ask? What do I have to do? This is a legacy thing and I already have grandchildren wanting to know where "the rest of the story" is... PLEASE reach out to us! I caught one part where I misspoke. We DO KNOW how this is all going to end. But if the family and friends have known all along what is happening, it won't be a shock - it will be just be that last step in the progression, and we will all have been prepared.
This is the hardest part. Just remember at those moments - it's NOT your loved one exhibiting behavior. As we say in my house - "it's the HD talking"...
