@@sitproperlywhilewatchingph423 we have in lasers an energy source that induces an object's atoms to produce a photon that starts the whole tale

A laser works by emitting light through a process called stimulated emission. Here's how it works:
1. Excitation: Energy is pumped into the atoms or molecules of a substance, known as the gain medium. This puts many of the particles into an excited energy level. Common types of gain media include gases like CO2 or Helium-Neon, crystal solids like YAG or Ruby, and semiconductor diode materials.
2. Stimulated emission: When an particle in the excited state encounters a photon of the same frequency, it releases its energy as another photon of the same frequency, phase, and direction. This is called stimulated emission. The newly emitted photons then trigger other stimulated emissions, resulting in an amplification of light.
3. Optical resonator: The emitted photons bounce back and forth between two highly reflective mirrors, called the optical resonator. On each pass through the gain medium, more stimulated emission and photon amplification occurs. This results in the light reflecting and amplifying many times.
4. Output coupling: One of the mirrors is only partially reflective so that some of the amplified light can exit as a high energy laser beam. The difference in reflectivity of the two mirrors, known as the cavity loss, determines how many reflections can occur and thus the output power. Higher loss means fewer reflections but higher output, while lower loss means more amplification but reduced output.
5. Continuous wave or pulsed: In continuous wave (CW) lasers, the energy pumping into the gain medium and light amplification is continuous. In pulsed lasers, energy is built up and then released in the form of short, powerful pulses of light. Pulsed lasers achieve much higher peak power, though lower average power.
That covers the basic idea of how a laser works through the process of stimulated emission and light amplification within an optical resonator. By controlling properties like the gain medium, optical resonator, and energy input, lasers can produce light ranging from infrared and visible wavelengths all the way up to X-rays, with a variety of output durations and power levels for different applications.
By: chatgpt
I've studied Lasers in detail and I can say this is pretty spot on. Good job, Chat GPT, good job
@@hermannbarbato Seriously suprising since chatgpt is just for things that seems real and seem like the right answer, even if they aren’t actually and just lies.
Worth noting: It is generally accepted that lightsabers do not use laser beams. Rather, the blade of an active lightsaber is made of plasma.
Lasers don't have to be high energy. The energy in red laser pointer is very low, much less than a flashlight. However, it can be focused to an extremely small spot, potentially creating very high energy densities.

For what would happen if you drop
The lightsaber upside down
It go down
it'd retract
They answered this in the last episode of Rick and Morty. Morty droped the lightsaber upside down and it was about to hit the earth's core.
It would get stuck at the hilt. If it had a hilt (handle) narrowerer than the blade then it would fall through the earth until it got to the middle of earth's core. It would bounce around inside the core for a few minutes, constantly falling "past" the gravitational centre of the planet until it eventually didn't have enough momentum to continue moving. At that point it would sit in the very middle of the planet forever. The hole it created on the way down would instantly close behind it (due to the pressure and molten rock). It'd be totally harmless and you'd have no way of knowing it was even there. Of course, a "real" lightsaber would get stuck as soon as the blade went through something solid in the ground (like a rock or even some wood) as the handle is wider than the blade. It'd be like poking a sword through a piece of cardboard - the whole blade goes through easily but the handle wouldn't let it go any further. If it did keep falling then after about 15-20 miles (25-40 kilometers) the liquid magma would simply melt the metal handle, which would mean that the complex components of the lightsaber would break and it would turn off forever very quickly.
Lightsabers don't won't like in Richard & Mortimer Esq., unfortunately.

The fact that I don't understand how water faucets work is so cool! I'm the coolest person bc simple things confuse me.
The amplification part wasn't explained correctly. There's a stimulation step that must happen first. Then, a single wavelength is amplified out of all the light the atoms emit. The distance between the two mirrors must be an exact multiple of that wavelength.
