I found with mine I’d you unbolt the entire fuel filter assembly and change me outside the vehicle it’s way easier and saves getting diesel all through your engine bay
It doesn't matter too much aftermarket oil filters are normally just as good, as long as you stick with the reputable aftermarket ones (Burson Auto Parts, supercheap never had a problem)
@@Buildin70s Read something about a re-flow valve in the genuine Toyota ones, they also feel heavier but are a little shorter. I couldnt imagine noticing much but it might be beneficial long term perhaps
Good job with the video mate! I am just wondering what type of oil you're using? What do you think about the penrite stuff. Is it worth the extra money and which viscosity do you use ?
Gulf western top dog xdo 15w40 for my hdj or caltex delo 15w40 both good mineral oils with a good additive package. Most importantly they meet the Japanese spec jaso dh1. Which you have to search for these days. Both well priced oils too by the 20L.
@@Buildin70s wow cheers I always looked at the fenders to tell didn't know the 79s came with them too, got a 99' 75 series ive been working on for a little while your vids are great info 👍

Good idea, its always a pain to get to the bolt under the filter, that'll definitely make it easier haha
Great video! I am keen to learn how to service my Ute myself.
Glad I watched this, realised when I changed the fuel pre filter I didn't know the spring and washer that pushes the filter up was missing.
Great content as always!
Would be cool to see a similar video for the VDJ7X if you ever get one of those
Ive had one, that was before i started making videos but i don't think ill be going back

I bloody love the 79s they look great but you should put big mud tires on it with matt black rims
It's a 75 but it would still look better
Yeah the early 79s are mad.
I haven't really needed mud tires so im just staying with these.
@Ash its an early year 79
Just the RV (wats on the v8s ) rims with 285/75/16, muddys.
