I am surprised you have never heard this before as it is featured in an amazon ad It really is a match made in heaven as it features Pachelbel's Canon in D Major - one of the most beautiful pieces of music to me
Christine and the Queens is a non-binary French singer-songwriter and dancer. He is "Christine" and also "and the Queens". He refers to himself with male pronouns. His performances are theatrical performance actions. What I like about him is that his music is extremely diverse and eclectic. A common motif is the confrontation with one's own sexuality. The recording was recorded live on June 26, 2023 in the church of Saint-Pierre de Thaon in Normandy/France as part of a concert without an audience for Arte, a German-French public broadcaster. An official MV only exists in the form of a poetry video. Full of Life is based on a sample of Sir Neville Marriner and Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields's 'Canon À 3 on a Ground in D Major' by the Nuremberg baroque composer Johann Pachelbel. It is the only surviving canon by the composer, who died in 1706. He probably wrote the work for the wedding of Johann Sebastian Bach's older brother. Pachelbel's canon is very popular in pop music and countless songs are based on its progression, All Together Now by The Farm, Hometown by Joe Jackson, C U When You Get There by Coolio, Streets Of London by Ralph McTell and Memories by Maroon 5, to name just a few.
Hi Michael! 👋😏 Ohhhhhhh, ok. I now have clarity. Many times I overthink. I kept wondering, and wondering, "Where the hell are the Queens"? Ha! Thats a profound and meaningful thing to be uninhibited about one's sexuality. It was so melodic, and powerful to hear/see. All those names you mentioned were alot to absorb. Wow. Then seeing you mention Coolio, and Maroon 5 in there. Fascinating. Thanks. ~ Tazzz ~
@@perrosol-sm lol. Your choices in music are my constant reminder of the plethora of songs out there that many people never even heard of. I dont think anyone on earth could ever say they have heard EVERY song in the world.
@@tazzznphilly Music is like life, it can be a never-ending journey of discovery (sorry for the house and yard philosophy). Inspired by last week's topic, for example, I discovered a few fascinating pieces from Turkish and Cameroonian culture, even if I only scratched the surface.
@@perrosol-sm your life seems to intertwine mine. Ha! I have NEVER heard of Cameroon, until I recently started watching this season of tv show, 90 Day Fiance. This is definitely the best version of the song as it is live. Tgere is another version "live" at an Olymoucs celebration last year but I use that term VERY loosely as the vocals were pre-recorded - & anyone who thinks that artists actually are singing for real at these events are delusional. Christine was Heloise from France but now goes by Rahim Redcar, is genderqueer & goes by he/him. I suggest looking up Tilted for the first album, even better, the french version just titled "Christine" IMO
"Interesting" is the first word that comes to my mind too. I think we CAN call this video minimalist. "The Queens" must be a string quartet because FUN FACT: the background music is one of my suggestions for next week, Pachelbel's Canon in D. Won't have much more to say unless I hear more of (her?/them?) but👍
The Queens were a group of drag (men dressed as women) performers in a Pub in London that she made friends with when she visited London, and made her feel welcome.
fantastic singing helped by a massive reverb box with some delays thrown in and mab a few vocal overdubs for harmonizing. but quite a moving piece of music . lyrics are quite correct to human desire to locate true happiness. blah blah 😁
But what is "Pop"? Pop is anything that us popular. The Beatles were pop, Elton Jihn is pop. Journey is pop. By today's standards - which I would categorise as overplayed, autotuned, pitch corrected, written by 20 other people & "featuring" I don't think it falls into the pop category
@@Stiffkittens01 by your own second sentence though, you said anything popular. This song was/is popular. Regardless though, the song and Artist deserve recognition. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 🤷♂️
@@tazzznphilly yes, I also said by today's standards. What people initially think of when pop is mentioned In no way am I knocking it, I love it, it just doesn't belong with the trash that is around these days that is so manufactured LOL 😆😜
This was beautiful, unique, with excellent vocals. I loved the accoustics in the setting and the way the video was shot. Something that does not impress is using f*ck language to attract attention like a bratty child. That was jarring and ruined what could have been a stunning performance. 🥰🥰🇨🇦

@@fabbel1913 indeed! Powerful and echoing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
well that was nothing short of brilliant
Christine has a superb voice and adding it to the classical tune was inspirational, she sang this at the opening ceremony in the Paris olympics
No he didn't. He sang it at a concert in 2023 to celebrate the countdown to the games
Her voice is truly one of a kind, absolutely beautiful.
