    Hi Vin. They plan to do four years worth of seasonal releases, as well as the Our Barley, then probably will settle down into a core range with an eight year old.

    Hi Vin, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Fallow Edition First Crop. I just tried a sample and it was yummy to me. I already have Lochlea on my radar. Same samples from the rest and a bottle of the Our Barley. Cheers from Germany

      They're definitely on my radar now. Need to explore the whole range at some point!

    I have a bottle of the Lochlea Our Barley. Looking forward to opening it up.

    Really appreciate that you are still considering "bank for buck". I too, must consider the overall price I paid. I just had a Lochlea Harvest Edition, and I loved it. Especially for the price. This sounded really good. Cheers!

      I think it's really important, especially as the prices are constantly creeping up for some bottles.

    I think Lochlea is right up there as one of the best new distilleries. I’ve got the Harvest and Our Barley first release. Be interesting to compare any of the 2nd crop to the first. Got a good insight to the distillery from John Campbell being on Aquavitae a few weeks ago and it’s definitely in good hands. The Fallow which is the 4th one in the cycle sounds great finished in Laphroaig casks. This is definitely a distillery to keep an eye on……look forward to more reviews 👍

    I got a bottle of the First Release and have tasted a couple of the others, but I'm now looking forward to an online tasting in May with the full range so far (all four seasonal ones, the First Release and Our Barley, which is their 'core' bottling) hosted by The Spirit Specialist and with John Campbell as special guest. Sample packs may still be available to order, if you're interested...

      I am very interested in that! I'll have a look. Cheers for the heads up!

    Glad to get your take on this one Vin! You giving this a thumbs up makes me feel that it is one I would like as well - Cheers!

      I was pleasantly surprised, given the heavy sherry. And despite a short finish, it's a top dram

    in your opinion, do you think it is worth investing in the first crop of Lochlea releases for collecting/reselling purposes later on, while they're still available now?

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question and a super tough one to answer. In all honesty, I genuinely don't know. I doubt these will be worth an incredible amount in the future but I've been very wrong before.

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky that and the MoM Linkwood you recommended the other night are my 2 ins this month, so nice one for the heads up on that one

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky absolutely. Superb value as well. I’ve only had one dram out of it so far, going to come back to it in a few days time, let it open up a bit. First impressions are good, nose is great, reminds me of a good Alvarinho (Portuguese white wine), if you get a good one it’s those same notes: orchard fruits, peach, etc. Looking forward to coming back to this one, I can’t see it lasting long though… 😅

    I recently sampled the Lochlea Inaugural Release and Sowing Edition First Crop .... and hated them. Too young and tasted like new make. I really wanted to like these because of John Campbell, but I think it will be a few years before Lochlea gets better, perhaps once it gets a 10 year age statement. Definitely wouldn't buy a full bottle of either.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting! It could well be that the heavy sherry covered some of the sins that show up on other cask types. I'll have to try them to find out

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky You can definitely tell them have 'potential', perhaps I was expecting too much. I believe they are only around 4 years old.
