Looking forward to this one! My former partner from my law enforcement days who then went into journalism interviewed Berkowitz. He said it was a surreal experience.

Anyone who is interested in seeing if my claim is bs, all you have to do is search Scott Weinberger David Berkowitz interview. There’s plenty that will come up, along with one article from Forbes Magazine where they did a profile of my former partner. In fact, that article actually has a photo in it that I took myself and Scott gave to them for the piece. Enjoy!

That time period right after leaving the service is so crucial. I felt lost for a few years. In a way it helped me convert to Catholicism. I think we have to be supportive and help motivate those who are leaving the service. They could be leaving behind their dream career that didn't work out or they could be traumatized because of stuff they experienced. Probably both if they were combat arms. I can see how this negatively affected this man and made him vulnerable to outside influence.

I usually don’t take too much interest in true crime-especially serial killers. I will say though that this episode blew what cursory knowledge I had of the Son of Sam murders completely apart. From the evidence you’ve presented here, it seems like the conspiracy theory is really an open and shut case. I really enjoyed this episode.

Like a lot of people, I knew about the "Son of Sam" shootings, but from the information released in the media I assumed that Berkowitz was the lone gunman. Jimmy and Dom, you provided a tremendous amount of credible information that suggests it's likely he was one of several shooters. Very interesting! Thanks!

The other day I was wondering if you guys would discuss a mystery that had some connection to the state or area that I live in. I was shocked to hear North Dakota mentioned in this episode! Not knowing much, or really anything, about this mystery I had no idea there would be a connection to Minot. Keep up the good work! I look forward to these episodes every week.

I, also, live in North Dakota. East of the Missouri River, south of I94. I used to live in Garrison, so I'm rather familiar with the Minot area, since that was the closest place to find serious shopping near Garrison.

Maybe they called themselves the sons of Sam because calling yourself the sons of Sow did not sound groovie? They could not dig it (this was in the 70s).

There is plenty of credible evidence that Berkowitz did not commit all of these shootings. If you start with the police composite sketches, it’s obvious that it was different shooters. The Lomino/DeMasi shooter sketch was a dead ringer for John Carr, the Voskerichian shooter (Ski Cap) and the Moskowitz shooter look nothing like Berkowitz. Additionally, Berkowitz was positively ID’d blocks away two minutes before Stacy Moskowitz was attacked. Multiple with messes described seeing the shooter wearing what appeared to be a wig and leaving the scene in a yellow Volkswagen. Berkowitz took the fall (reluctantly) for all the shootings so that the group he belonged to would not hurt his family members. Maury Terry was right on the nerve center of this case and the cops could never agree because they were under intense pressure to close the case. This is the most fascinating criminal case of the past 100 years.

  • @irishgirlintexas

I'm of the opinion that Maury/Morrie (sp?) may have stumbled upon a connection between the occult talisman and other such things. It appears that the Carr boys had their own pattern of reinterpreting and reassigning meaning to various occult things, such as their father's name with Samhain. Occult stuff + traumatic childhood + ignorance = the tragic run of Son of Sam killings.
Also, just a theory, but I'd like to propose a theory that the Carr boys' sister, the dispatcher may have been the female shooter. She actually said, "I don't care if he comes up totally dirty," which has me thinking, "Well, of course not, if you were a part of it." Of course, we may never be able to look further into that, if she's not alive anymore. Don't know if she was light-haired like her brothers, but she'd have a lot to lose by being recognized on the street, thus the disguise of a cap, maybe hair dye/wig, etc.

There was things about berkowitz that were left out of the sons of sam documentary. He was profiled while he was in the army given lsd. Also he served as a new york city auxiliary policeman for awhile and was given a letter of commendation for saving some people from a house fire.

    1. i supposed the sam was short for samael (kinda like the jewish version of satan). david _berkowitz_ was jewish, so it kinda made sense to me.
    2. is it possible that the dinocidal tidal wave swept the dinosaurs to areas to where scientists now perhaps incorrectly think they inhabited?

Thank God, someone was inclined and intelligent enough to make at least somewhat of an investigation about this, or a summary of the several top quality investigations made of this case, but were all placed deep under the rug!
And as a person who has personally investigated this case for a few years, I'll only say, good job! And the reason why Berkowitz is reluctant in answering those questions is VERY SIMPLY in essence, at least! s a person who honestly believe that he has changed and became true Chhristian, he felt that he has to do it at least once, which he did previously the interview from the Netflixx series. He doesn't wanna obsolve himself, point the finger towards other ppl, or anything else alike, just wanna tell the truth and never ever speak about it!
There is ton of evidence clearly displaying it was an entire group of ppl who did this, but given just how corrupt NYPDis,how many careers have been made into the police stardom, only fool won't be able to understand why this case remained with such an official conclusion!
The only other famous case in which the truth has nothing to do with the official narrative, but is actually a totaly crazy fiction made by certain ppl's profit from it, is Charles Mansn's case and the tnire story of "the Manson Family", the insane group which believed in Hellter Skelter, etc, etc...
But it's the world we live in. If they could make American ppl nd half of the rest of the world, that 9/11 was done by Osama Bin Laden and the Twin Towers fell because of the jet impacts... I mean, what more do you expect?
