You can see all Mohanlal movies from 80s, 90s and 2000s you will be mesmerise by the level of acting and quality in story and plot. But the problem for others is that no subtitle, no dubbing. It seems you have not seen movies of the 1980s and to some extent 1990s movie. Masterpiece movies in Malayalam cinema were made in that time and they were way way ahead of its time. No film like those movies has been made in any other movies. Absolutely masterpiece moving during those times. Try and watch movies 1980s and then let me know. You will regret why you did not see the movies of 1980s many years earlier
I am still new to Malayalam Cinema but I came to know about sheer brilliance and quality of it by so many people like you and I will definitely watch a lot of movies from that Era
Sudden rise, or sudden notice by you guys? 1965, "Chemmeen" won many national awards. India's first 3D movie from Malayalam is "My Dear Kuttichathan." India's first movie shot in a Panavision camera from Malayalam is "Vanaprastham." There are also many experimental movies from Malayalam, making the list endless.
A must watch film is kadal the core .Mammuty super star of Malayalam industry acted in it as a guy.can we imagin a super star in any other languages will accept such a role.
If you like some dark movies then do watch 1. Ela Veezha Poonchira 2. Iratta 3. Kumari 4. Mumbai Police All my friends have went crazy after watching this
Watch Rorschach (2022). It is the most unique psycho thriller I've seen, IN THE WORLD. (I mostly see all foriegn films) Btw, Bollywood actors and filmmakers have been talking about malayalam cinema since ever, but most of north India didn't know about it. That is why Jabbar Patel cast Mammootty as Dr. BR Ambedkar at that time.
@@apoorvandmovies since you watched it, I'll say this: the movie was basically a Rorschach test. On top of that, the most popular theory is that Luke never leaves the white room, and everything is his imagination. He killed his wife and to cope, created Dileep , to put all the blame onto him. There are multiple references in the movie suggesting how he might even be dead: the unfixed car, him breaking the nameboard and making it "heaven" from "dileeps heaven", the fact that a uk guy can't buy land in india, the fact that the last shot starts with a white room etc. If you take the movie at face value, there are too many inconsistencies. Luke never escapes the white room or he dies with his family during the burglary. Mammootty himself said that you can watch the movie and have your own interpretation.
Already seen more than 90 movies of malyalam industry This is one of best movie industry with realistic cinema 📽️ Please watch some movies of my opinion 2018 Anjaam pathira Bheeshma parvam Churuli Jan gan man Kathal the core Lucifer Maalik Attam Romaancham Vidheyan..... ............ .... And so on
There are a goodnumber of massy movies Actually. Kerala audience loves massy movies too and infact used to be the main genre in the early 2000s. the thing is, keralites gets very bored of repetitive content. And massy movies are easily a genre that can fall into generic tropes. And that makes it a risky genre to take if the director does not have something new to say. So, here are a decent number of movies for you which you can check out. The website einthusan might have them with subtitles. 1. Thallumaala 2. Bheeshma parvam 3. Aiyyappanum koshiyum 4. Action hero Biju 5. Comrade in America 6. KAAPA ( netflix) 7. BIG B 8. Kala (tovino thomas movie) There are many more.... And even older classics. if you would like to review, i can keep updating you with a list and sources.
You hit all the correct points. Nice analysis😊 Malayalam movies have allways been the good standard. It’s just that they don’t have a huge population like Tamil and Telugu audience and therefore don’t have huge budgets to spend on marketing outside Kerala and also to help with word of mouth. Also Kerala movies don’t believe in mass movies and illogical stuff which hate to say is what majority of audience everywhere wants. The literacy rate in Kerala is 99% and therefore the audience is a lot more evolved than the rest of the country. I think if anything has changed now it’s mostly the boom of ott platforms and also the fact that Hindi movies are just not doing well and audience is also getting a bit tired of the same old mass movies with the same formula so they’re trying other movies. Also Hindi movies and even Telugu and Tamil unlike before where they would just remake Malayalam movies in their languages and take the profit, can’t be done anymore because of ott. To put things in perspective allmost all the early 2000’s classic hit hindi movies are remakes from Malayalam movies like Hulchul Hungama Hey Baby Herapheri Houseful Garam Masala Drishyam 1 and 2 Bhool Bhulaiya Chup chup ke Body Guard Kyun ki And many more.. this just a sample 😊
@@apoorvandmovies Bro you have no idea😊 Akshay Kumar needs to thank Priyadarshan for remaking so many Malayalam movies and resurrected Akshays career when he was doing flop action movies. It started with Herapheri and Akshay never looked back … except now with his back to back flops😊 Not just Bollywood , Tamil and Telugu did it too..😊 But it’s all good. Atleast now non Kerala audience is finally appreciating them and it’s long overdue.
Malayalam cinema is always great, look at 80s, 90s and then... People may say 2000s were bad for malayalam movies, but some of the best movies have came in that period including rajamanikyam (if u like avesham watch rajamanikyam as well😉) I think you north Indians just got to see it now, you guyz only know the sub standard bollywood movies that is the prblm..

There were a few great ones in 2022-23 1) Jaya Jaya Jaya Hai 2) Enna than case kodu 3) Mukundan Unni Associates 4) Thallumala 5) Iratta 6) Romancham They are all must watches, so I suggest going through them all if you haven't already.
It's not sudden rise.. Actually the first pan Indian movie is from mollywood - My dear Kuttuchattan 3D (Chota Chetan)... There are somany other malayalam movies introduced new techniques to India... Also 90s was the golden year of mollywood.. Its pace got slowed down from 2000 to 2010... After that it geared up again.. That's all... The people who unaware of it got an exposure to mollywood after corona situation and OTT releases... That's all
Qulaity of movies reflect the quality of viewers as well. Mallus are far ahead in terms of standard of living and education. So naturally their evaluating and enjoyment standard will be in high level. They are also very civilised society as well.
If you want to watch movie during the struggling period of malayalam cinema, criticising itself and made fun of all actors in the industry.. At that period Mohanlal started business selling food products like pickles and he started acting in dramas and many actors including mamooty and mohanlal showing interest in acting as 'karna' in mahabharath.. mamooty's insistence on using different sun glasses, and using poster with only his photo in it.. undue influence of friends and "well wishers" on actors.. etc etc.. Movie name is " Udayanaanu thaaram" (ഉദയനാണ് താരം) hope subtitles are available By the way , when people say malayalam film industry rise recently by many TH-camrs (not you) is an insult.. People in general in India recently rose to the standards or malayalam films. I have been recommending these movies to many friends from other states for years.. nobody liked it then..
Udaynaanu's plot sounds so interesting. I will definitely watch it. I know Malyalam cinema has been producing good movies for a long time but sometimes your work only gets recognition when the numbers starts showing themselves.
Yes. Numbers started showing recently only.. but Malayalam film industry started in 1928 and has been a trailblazer in several aspects of film making.. not just in content but also a pioneer in film making techniques such as, Newspaper Boy (1955), a neorealistic film, drew inspiration from Italian neorealism.] Padayottam (1982) is India's first indigenously produced 70 mm film, while My Dear Kuttichathan (1984) is India's first 3D film. O' Faby (1993) is India's first Live action/animation hybrid film. Amma Ariyan (1986) is the first film made in India with money collected from the public. Moonnamathoral (2006) is the first Indian film to be shot and distributed in digital format Jalachhayam (2010) is the first Indian feature film shot entirely on a Camera phone and it was also an experimental film directed by Sathish Kalathil who is the director of Veena Vaadanam, the first documentary film in India shot with the same movie capture medium. Villain (2017) is the first Indian film to be shot entirely in 8K resolution. Vazhiye (2022) is the first found footage film of Malayalam Cinema. In 1982, Elippathayam won the Sutherland Trophy at the London Film Festival, and Most Original Imaginative Film of 1982 by the British Film Institute. The film Marana Simhasanam has won the prestigious Caméra d'Or at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. Rajiv Anchal's Guru (1997), Salim Ahamed's Adaminte Makan Abu (2011), Lijo Jose Pellissery's Jallikkattu (2019) and Jude Anthany Joseph's 2018 (2023) were Malayalam films sent by India as its official entries for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards. Other films which achieved global acclaim include Chemmeen (1965), which received a Certificate of Merit at the Chicago International Film Festival, and a gold medal at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Cinematography. Swaham (1994) won the Bronze Rosa Camuna at the Bergamo Film Meeting in Italy.] The first 3D film produced in India, My Dear Kuttichathan (1984), was made in Malayalam. The first CinemaScope film produced in Malayalam was Thacholi Ambu (1978). (Source , Wikipedia)

Huge audience spanning multiple states means diversity.... some want old style bollywood movies.... some want to see their favorite star.... some want content driven movies.... Those mohanlal movies between mid 80‘s and 2000’s are classic in every aspect. When you start watching malayalam movies, then there is no going back🙇
Dont exclude mammootty movies. Not as many good ones as the mohanlal movies in 90's, but theyre still masterclasses
It's simple, when you watch a movie can you become a part of it. That is all that ever is, so it take a village to raise a child.

Proud as a malayali Cinepile. 😊❤
Nice presentation 👏👏

Bro you not even mentioned goat life movie. Its a Oscar level movie the crew spent 16 years to make that movie.
I mentioned it but I get what you are saying that I didn't explained it in detail
Watch Rorschach (2022). It is the most unique psycho thriller I've seen, IN THE WORLD. (I mostly see all foriegn films)
Btw, Bollywood actors and filmmakers have been talking about malayalam cinema since ever, but most of north India didn't know about it. That is why Jabbar Patel cast Mammootty as Dr. BR Ambedkar at that time.
I have watched Rorschach but it just didn't clicked for me but now I have to give it a second chance
Already seen more than 90 movies of malyalam industry

To put things in perspective allmost all the early 2000’s classic hit hindi movies are remakes from Malayalam movies like
Hulchul
Hungama
Hey Baby
Herapheri
Houseful
Garam Masala
Drishyam 1 and 2
Bhool Bhulaiya
Chup chup ke
Body Guard
Kyun ki
And many more.. this just a sample 😊
Wow I didn't know that all these cult classic hindi movies are copied from Malyalam cinema.
And also these movies are 80s and 90s malayalam movie think what is the range of malayalam movies
Malayalam cinema is always great, look at 80s, 90s and then... People may say 2000s were bad for malayalam movies, but some of the best movies have came in that period including rajamanikyam (if u like avesham watch rajamanikyam as well😉)
I think you north Indians just got to see it now, you guyz only know the sub standard bollywood movies that is the prblm..
Avesam is just the normal mass fights movie ….no class in it. Premamalu also typical new gen love story. Only bhramayugam and goaife class
Idk if you've watched some of the newer movies. If not then I'd suggest watching them first before delving into older movies. There were a few great ones in 2022-23
1) Jaya Jaya Jaya Hai
2) Enna than case kodu
3) Mukundan Unni Associates
4) Thallumala
5) Iratta
6) Romancham
They are all must watches, so I suggest going through them all if you haven't already.
I have watched Jaya Jaya and Mukundan unni
It's not sudden rise.. Actually the first pan Indian movie is from mollywood - My dear Kuttuchattan 3D (Chota Chetan)... There are somany other malayalam movies introduced new techniques to India... Also 90s was the golden year of mollywood.. Its pace got slowed down from 2000 to 2010... After that it geared up again.. That's all... The people who unaware of it got an exposure to mollywood after corona situation and OTT releases... That's all
My message was that mollywood is finally getting the recognition that they always deserved
@@apoorvandmovies okay ☺️

If you want to watch movie during the struggling period of malayalam cinema, criticising itself and made fun of all actors in the industry..
At that period Mohanlal started business selling food products like pickles and he started acting in dramas and many actors including mamooty and mohanlal showing interest in acting as 'karna' in mahabharath.. mamooty's insistence on using different sun glasses, and using poster with only his photo in it.. undue influence of friends and "well wishers" on actors.. etc etc..
Movie name is " Udayanaanu thaaram" (ഉദയനാണ് താരം) hope subtitles are available
By the way , when people say malayalam film industry rise recently by many TH-camrs (not you) is an insult..
Yes. Numbers started showing recently only.. but Malayalam film industry started in 1928 and has been a trailblazer in several aspects of film making.. not just in content but also a pioneer in film making techniques such as,
Newspaper Boy (1955), a neorealistic film, drew inspiration from Italian neorealism.] Padayottam (1982) is India's first indigenously produced 70 mm film, while My Dear Kuttichathan (1984) is India's first 3D film. O' Faby (1993) is India's first Live action/animation hybrid film.
Amma Ariyan (1986) is the first film made in India with money collected from the public.
Moonnamathoral (2006) is the first Indian film to be shot and distributed in digital format
Jalachhayam (2010) is the first Indian feature film shot entirely on a Camera phone and it was also an experimental film directed by Sathish Kalathil who is the director of Veena Vaadanam, the first documentary film in India shot with the same movie capture medium.

Oh okay 👍
Bollywood doesn't digest good movies (eg: Maidaan). That's another problem. Malayalam was great for about 4 decades. No one noticed until OTT Release.
It's not Bollywood it's the audience. Yes OTT is huge in spreading word about Malyalam movies
Many malayalam movies hav been remaked in hindi also,
For example: phera pheri, bodyguard, chup chup ke, billu, etc

If you have a VCR or VCP, the Thomsun Company in the 80s and 90s used to make video cassettes with English subtitles otherwise you will have to depend on TH-cam bro. Enjoy the movies, you have fallen into a Diamond mine.
The new movies that you see now from the Mallu Screens are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many cult movies done by great actors like Mohanlal, Mammootty, humors of Jayaram and Dileep. Action by Suresh Gopi.

Bro I just wanna point out a technical thing about your video... If you're editing in premiere pro, when exporting change the "time interpolation" into "frame sampling"... I think your settings is in 'frame blending', that's why when a clip changes, it appears as glitchy... BTW nice video ❤

Kids who are exposed to Malayalam Cinema newly will feel it is the sudden rise. We all know some of the best crafts, remakes are from Malayalam. Since you are just trying to gain attention from subscribers do some good research on Malayalam cinema and post such videos my friend.
We grew up watching Korean, English, Spanish movies. So we demand quality and class over mass masala. So if they introduce an unrelatable movie, its place is in dustbin😅😅😅
Oh that's very interesting but if a mass movie like Aavesham comes and give something different then everybody accept it
@@apoorvandmovies even though it's a mass movie but it's relatable cuz we all craved for a sugar daddy or goon support like Ranga when we were juniors in college 😹😹

Reason is in Bollywood, Kollywood & Tollywood, either no Big release or Big movies not as good as expectation is right now. And Malayalam movies filled this void.
Once Big release from Tamil & Telugu (Kanguva, Indian 2 & Pushpa 2) movies comes, may Malayalam movies go backstage.

Sudden rise? It's the first time you northies notice lol.. The best industry in the country with more National Awards more advanced talented actors and technicians
Believe it or not but this time is the best time for Malayalam Cinema in terms of nationwide exposure. You can't be the best industry in the country when more than 80% Indians don't even know your films
@@apoorvandmovies That because of the audience matters.. North indian audience (mostly) prefer the commercial mass masala movies..
