The biggest weakness of the Faris and the Cataphract are the early levels, they have paper armor until you buy them a war mount. Which is more of a number than a money issue as towns produce way less then needed for a player party to keep up with upgrades, and you end up loosing a bunch to stray arrow shots from militia archers.
That point you made about generative ai worries and excites me at the same time. It’s gonna suck when I get outsmarted by an enemy lord that already knows my tactics but it would be cool if they make decisions in the battlefield according to their character traits.
I've actually since had discussions with a guy who WORKS in AI and he said we're a long way from most games having generative AI because of the processing power that is needed for the system to learn on the fly and react. Might work somewhat with streaming, but it's more of a 5-10 year from now potential problem.
I’ve used Battanian Mounted Skirmishers the same way. Put in a OG captain with a mount movement banner and two bags of custom javelins and it’s a bad day for the enemy.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I’m pretty sure the bad reputation they have is just because they are not F1+F3 troops. You have to manage them precisely but when they work, they really mangle things.
That's a great suggestion. Then you have glaives bouncing up and down on your head though. We'll see - because I'll need to refine this in my upcoming Aserai campaign. Cheers for the suggestion!
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions even in theory they don't work. You're just creating a numbers advantage for your opponent. Irl it's suspected that they were used only to try to kill the commander straight away, but in bannelord that's useless since the AI keeps their tactics after the commander dies (which is a shame, they really should have worse tactics when the commander dies)
@@alex2005z Wedge cav DID have a better chance to cut a path and cause enemy infantry to rout, but you're right, it was designed more psychologically than theoretically..
I think if you can somehow keep on the khans guards weak side you might be able to have an advantage. I don't have access to RTS as I play on PS5 but would be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

There are some pretty good ways to upgrade infantry too though(as I've covered).
Comment for the algorithm, your work deserves more views!
Thank you - I appreciate that, mate.
Ever since ive followed you you ahve taught me more about tactics than strat gaming has so thats amazing man loving the series!
My favorite kind of comment, thanks bud. I appreciate all the support!
Such a shame nobody calls them Javalry instead of JavCav 😢
Until now... :)

I for one welcome our AI overlords, have you not heard of Rosko's basilisk?
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions ah damn then I’ll be looking forward for it. It’s gonna be quite the thing

Yep, even the tier 5 Sturgian Javalry is pretty nasty too...

Fast horse, a couchable lance AND 5 javelins. The only reason i stopped using them in my campaign is because I thought they were too OP haha
Pretty close to OP'd, yep, but the enemy uses them, so...
As I spy my enemy: I see elite cataphracts, meh. I see banner knights, meh. I see druzhnik champs, meh. I see vanguard faris, hell nah!
Yeah, I agree. EXCEPT the charging, two-handed spear cataphracts, they get my attention QUICK
Khan's Guard op
Quite, but I still prefer Battanian Fians overall...
I wonder if the Faris would’ve won if you dismounted them after surrounding the Khans guard. More attackers per horse mounted defender.

Why did you use a skein formation over a simple line formation? Is it to focus the enemy even more into the center?
Yes, but also because in theory it works. In practice, it usually doesn't...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions which one doesn't work in practice. The line?

Probably right, if I replayed it, maybe we win BUT it's amazing that the Khans guard had ANY chance here...
