But our happiness was not to last... For, in 2010, Bionicle ended, and our biomechanical heros were replaced by... freaking robot police...
Not replaced. If you bothered to actually do some research, you'd find the truth. Bionicle was canceled because sales were dropping drastically. So, LEGO wrapped up the story with one last wave and ended it. Hero Factory was never meant to replace Bionicle, it was an experiment to see WHAT caused the drop in sales that led to it.
The real reason wasn't a sales drop, but a change in management. Near the end of the run the bionicle team gained a new manager who decided to pull the plug on the series, wanting to create fresh theme of their own, which ended up being Hero Factory. The team itself would've loved to have continued on G1, but that wasn't their call to make, but the new manager's. I know this because a friend of mine talked to one of the bionicle team members.
I can't believe it. At long last, my ears can finally hear what may be one of the best soundtracks of all time. The memories are coming back! Shivers, chills. Ah. Such beauty. Please Furst, PLEASE release the entire trilogy score. It needs to happen! I'll pay money! Take my money!
Man, the films don't stand up as well today as they did in my memories, but this score is still as good as it ever was. It always sucked me straight into these movie. Thank you for making my childhood awesome.
Man, I don't know what was a bigger mindfuck - Finding out at the end of the series that Takua's weird colors were because he was an Av-Matoran, or that the rest of his kind were the Bohrok.
Wonderful, wonderful music. Even to this day, I'm still blown away by how amazing the score in the first 3 Bionicle movies are. Now, I think we can all agree on that he should release the rest of the scores from the rest of the trilogy.
Yes! After years and years of waiting, we have finally been blessed with Nathan Furst uploading more of his old BIONICLE soundtrack! Thank you so much! I have to say, your score for the trilogy was hands-down the best thing about the films. For a direct-to-DVD kids' film, something of this caliber blew our minds. It was everything that a BIONICLE soundtrack should be: grand, adventurous, mysterious, sinister, beautiful... and now, nostalgic. Truth be told, the films themselves don't hold up so well after ten years, but the soundtrack remains fondly remembered to this day, and with good reason. For that matter, it's a shame that Tinseltown Toons didn't ask you to compose the score for _BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn_. That film could have definitely benefited *a lot* from your magic touch.
too be fair Tinsel Town Toons was lazy with their animation to begin with just using the plain sets as models with no artistic touches or improvements besides perhaps Click... so I would literally only have one other thing to look forward to besides Michael Dorn voicing Mata Nui
I honestly don't think even Nathan Furst could have saved The Legend Reborn. There was nothing that anyone could bring to that silly, mediocre film to make it remotely good, not even Michael Dorn (he was the perfect voice actor for Mata Nui, though). That movie was The Last Airbender (Shyamalan film) of the Bionicle universe. Admittedly, though, it would indeed have been a slightly better experience if Furst had provided the music, because I even thought the score for Legend Reborn was mediocre. That's unusual for me since I like a lot of scores from crappy movies (Last Airbender, Eragon, Star Wars prequels).
Matoro The Toa Chronicler Tinseltown Toons' animation lacked the visual dynamics of the Miramax trilogy (stiffer movements, static camera angles, etc.), but the character models themselves have nothing to do with it. Frankly, that's a ridiculous double standard. Nobody complains that Templar Studios "just used the plain sets as models with no artistic touches or improvements" in MNOLG because the animations are just so charming. Carlos D'Anda's comics are highly revered by the fanbase despite the fact that he "just used the plain sets as models with no artistic touches or improvements". Some say that Advance Copenhagen produced the best BIONICLE animations of all, even though they "just used the plain sets as models with no artistic touches or improvements". Liam Murray I don't know if Nathan Furst could have "saved" _The Legend Reborn_, but it could have been elevated to levels of _Web of Shadows_ or even _Mask of Light_. Honestly, they're just as "silly and mediocre" as _The Legend Reborn_. Even _Legends of Metru Nui_, considered the best BIONICLE film by many, is a far cry from a great movie when you strip away the nostalgia. But, nostalgia aside, I believe the most important thing that the Miramax trilogy had Nathan Furst's incredible score, whereas _The Legend Reborn_ only had a forgettably average score. A film soundtrack can have a huge impact on the audience perception, and this is something that is widely agreed upon by professional film critics. I have actually done experiments where I took scenes from _The Legend Reborn_ and overlaid them with Nathan Furst's score, and it considerably improves the experience. Again, this probably would not have been enough to "save" the film, but it would have been a tremendous improvement.

Yes, the first three films were silly, but not to the extent of The Legend Reborn; and unlike the fourth film, they actually made an effort to take themselves seriously. And I completely disagree about them being mediocre. I won't say they didn't have problems, the biggest one being their ridiculously short lengths which left precious little time for character development, and the other being the occasionally corny dialogue due to being marketed for kids. But is the combination of the music and nostalgia the only thing that makes them enjoyable films? In my opinion, absolutely not. They did a wonderful job capturing the spirit (no pun intended) of the story of Bionicle and translating it to the screen. And considering they were such short movies they actually managed to do a pretty decent job developing most of the characters (except for the Toa Nuva, who were woefully underused in MoL). I for one still consider them to be great movies despite their issues. But I will agree that the score was easily the best part of them. I'd give the animation second-best.

That has been wanted for so long and never seen. I think every Bionicle fan would like to listen to it without any SFX.
