Rich I have the titanium Piccard, the titanium is scratched up pretty good but the crystal is holding up perfectly as you said it would. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this steel edition in either black or green. Awesome review and without wasted content. 👍
A perfect watch for an Avenger to wear. & laser beam coming out of the crystal dome would be awesome in the movie, ha ha. Aside the pun intended, I just LOVE THE BEZEL ACTION SOUND!!!! That is one of the best looking and sounding bezel action I have heard in years. It is just too "tall" for me, but if they would come out with a normal flat sapphire watch with about 13mm (with same bezel and similar looking dial), I might just pull the trigger. Something special for special people!!!! Awesome Review, Rich. thanks and have a great weekend.
Yes, the bezel action is definitely music to the ears and touch. And yeah the skyscraper height won’t be for everyone, Alex SDG. Cheers to the weekend.
Really super cool Piccard. That crystal rocks. At this price why not? Just why not? I think I’ll make the plunge and order the blue one. No offense to your green it’s just that I’m a blues guy. Thanks for the awesome review Rich. 👍👍👍
As a fan of Star Trek, I initially thought this piece was a tribute to Captain Jean-Luc Picard, especially when I saw that sapphire crystal. I thought it was the Enterprise))) 😉
Rich, that comment about driving the car with the watch on the wrist really cracked me up. Anyway, mine in blue is on it's way. I hope I will like at as much in the metal as I do in the videos I been watching. Good review fella.
Hi, Pietro. Congrats in advance on your blue. I’m thinking a rubber band could also work nicely. I’m glad I made you laugh, but seriously drive with a passenger. 😜💪
@@whatsonthewrist My thoughts on the watch as promised. I like the overall look, the crown is big, no crown guard but that is fine because the big size of the crown. They would have made it simply too much in case they opted for a crown guard. The watch fits OK because I am a big boy 6' 1" or 1.86 and 17 stone or 110 European kg. The materials seem fine and I like the engraving on the back. I have nothing like it in my collection, especially the dome crystal looks like the millennium dome on the banks of the river Thames in London. Or a UFO from the old 1960's series; the invaders. Now the bad part; I know that I am not the most handy person in the world. Rather a crocodile with boxing gloves when it comes down to DIY, maintenance on my motorbike etc but I have improved over time due to trial and error. Now the same goes when it come down to adjusting a bracelet on my watches, changing batteries etc. But o dear, the bracelet on this one is by far the worst bracelet I ever wrestled with (it was easier to wrestle the local bear on his back ! !) ! ! The quality is not bad but the push pins are abysmal ! ! A nightmare to push them out, first I thought I had to push them out in the opposite direction of what the arrows were showing because I saw it on one of the review that the guy had to push them out that way. Eventually I kind of fixed it, because I can't get the perfect sizing and I broke two push pins ! ! Either the bracelet is too loose or too tight and the fact that there are only three micro adjudgments didn't help at all ! ! My final thoughts on the watch: I like the looks, I strapped a 10kg dumbbell on my right arm when I drive my car so no need for a passenger to keep the balance(right hand drive cars over here), it is like nothing else in my collection, I like the story behind the watch and the supposed 50atm waterproof not that I will ever test it and I lost my ticket to go on a trip with captain Nemo's sub Nautilus. Maybe Spinnaker will send me a new one after reading this review. I would give 3 out of 5, do I recommend the watch ? That is a difficult one, it is surely special in its own way and I got 20% off the asking price. The $550 is too steep and I wouldn't bought it without the discount. There you have my thoughts on the watch in case you didn't fall asleep before getting here. 😉
Hey, Rich. I don’t recall the other brand with such a domed crystal but you could be right. The Piccard is in honor of the Bathyscape Trieste submerged mission from 1960. Yeah bronze could work here, good idea. 🤙
Hi, Anthony. If your dress shirt has a traditional cuff height, it could be a problem. But if your cuff has room for two buttons you could be fine using the wider option. Of course you can always roll up your sleeves. And thanks. 🤙
We have a UFO sighting indeed. I’m not sure what to say other than I have to have this. I was on the fence with the other Piccard you showed and it was to late it was sold out. Maybe at least a 9015 movement would have been nice. Thanks for confirming UFO’s in our universe Rich. 🛸👍
This looks like the real deal if you want a DIVER watch. Most you get today make allowance for all-time wearing, i.e. what we call a sports watch. I get it that nobody today uses a watch for diving as they have computers now. But this beast reminds me of the true vintage divers used by military back then. Regarding the movement I`d say it is an advantage to use a cheap, easy to replace NH35 in case it gets wet. Because repairing a higher grade movement would be expensive.
@@whatsonthewrist I learned something from a collector long ago who introduced me to Sicura dive watches - back then among the best. They used low grade movements because for the hour you needed them under water, the precision of the movement was insignificant. If you had an accident - out with the one and simply replace it. Those watches were not meant to be worn all day and this Sinnaker gives me the same vibes
I really like the design and overall looks, that crystal is amazing....But, paying over $500.00 for a watch with an NH35 movement just seems criminal. I know they are work horse movements but they really need to improve on the movement a bit before i would purchase one of these. 🤷♂
Looks ridiculous until you compare it to the titanium original. Then it looks less OTT. I liked the original and I like this one - you have got to applaud them for doing something original. Like Benarus did with the megalodon.

It’s definitely a good think that the crystal is sapphire instead of hesalite. Congrats on yours and soon to be steel version, brother. 🤙

The vessel on the caseback is the PX-15 from 1969
Thanks for that information. 🤙
21mm thickness? That domed crystal is insanely cool!!
Hi, Watch Witt. I quite like the crystal too. 🤙
That bezel is amazing .. I really like it. Probably heavier than I would wear ... but very interesting and great dial ... Cheers
Yeah the bezel is outstanding. I’m quite enjoying it. Thanks, James. ☕️

Ahh a Star Trek fan in the house. But it is a tribute to Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh. 😜🤙
@@whatsonthewrist I forgot to mention that I also learned something new. Thanks)))
@Greg. That makes me feel good and pleases me. Thanks man.
Wow, what a watch lol. They should drop one in the mariana trench just for respect :)
Great to see ya, Sam. Hope you’ve been well. 🤙🍻
Very cool! I like them both. They look very well made.⌚
They’ve been holding up nicely, Chance. 👌
That's one fantastic looking watch.

Looks a lot like the Pontvs model with that hyperdomed crystal. I wouldn't mind one in bronze...

Great review. I like the way you present.
I'm not sure if you mentioned, how do you think it'll fit under my cuff ? 😁

Haha, Stephen. Yes if I recall the previous Piccard was a limited edition. 👽🛸
What is the accuracy of the movement ?
It’s been on par for the movement, The Shadow Man. Nothing better or worse.

Excellent perspective and I agree, Holger. The movement is acceptable because of the price, not so much if it was more expensive.

Can’t argue with that, Holger.
I really wish that Spinaker would have a nice logo instead of the name spread across the dial . I'm not liking this watch but good review.

@iDid. Yes indeed it’s nicely made and they use quality materials such as a ceramic bezel inlay. Sapphire is definitely necessary for the crystal.

It’s been a good few years since I last visited Catalina Island. Great place to enjoy a lot.
