Hello- I have a question for you, oh and bye the way I love your videos. I have learned so much from them. My question is this. I noticed that during this entire video you refer to taking care of a baby and or child by a “caregiver” you don’t say parent and or parents. Is there a reason when explaining attachment and its relation/relevancy with babies and children?

I would imagine that the reason lies with the fact that it does not matter whether it is a parent, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, foster parent, or babysitter who is caring for the child… just that whoever the caregiver is they are not meeting the child’s need for attachment.

As @sarahalderman3126 said, some children are raised by grandparents or nannies from birth, so the primary attachment figure is the main person that C.A.R.E.S. for the child. Now if this person changes midstream it is very disruptive. Some work I have done with adults adopted as very young children even show a difference in attachment between those that find out they are adopted very early and those that find out in late adolescence or adulthood. The young child's mind has difficulty processing abandonment--- even if it is to a very loving home.

I have a serious question if you or anyone else can help me. I'm coming to realize that I have been struggling with either CPTSD or BPD. After 40 years of screwing up, I finally decided to make the bold move and go see a therapist! It IS NOT going well!!!! The first "intake" session, the counselor cut the session 20 minutes short!!?? I got home to find a message from her saying I should see someone else!? wow!!! So.... against every fiber of my being, I went ahead and saw someone else she referred me too.... This therapist doesnt say shit and I get the vibe does not like me at all! SHE referred me to a 3rd person!!?? At this point, I AM DONE!!! One thing I noticed with both therapists is.... they are pro "rainbow flag" people if you know what I mean. I AM NOT! The first 5 minutes of session was talking about what "pronouns" I can use and crap about gender identity!? I am basically a "nazi' on the political scale... Is this was caused problems? I said boys have penises therefore are males, and girls have vaginas therefore are female. THE END! I do I get help in this fallen world??

Congratulations on seeing a therapist! I think that’s really admirable and I am truly sorry you’ve had such an awful experience in therapy. You can use my AI to learn more on how to find a therapist that is best suited for you. Also, you can search for videos in the video library or more information on cPTSD and BPD.
