I just got a 3.7 mustang 2012 and it's my baby! I have to send her to the shop to fix the suspension and serpentine but I can tell she has potential. I just wish the previous owners took care of her better because these cares are so strong snd beautiful

07 v6 144k I'm on my 4th alternator since 07 one died in a few years 3rd lasted a while really I think the Louisiana insane heat were having killed 2 parts same time had to replace FRP sensor and alternator that showed up last few weeks. atleast I did it myself so whole lot cheaper than shop after my 1st died shop charged like 600 and still gave you a refurb alternator im trying my luck with 120 from Amazon new alt abd hope it holds up

My 2005 Mustang gt has 104000 miles on it. I got it stock in 2014 with 65000 miles on it. The car has been super dependable. Never left me stranded. I put borla axle backs on her and 2011 mustang gt rims on her. The dark Grey ones with brushed aluminum highlights. It’s a manual. The only things that I changed on it was an alternator a evap purge valve that was my fault for overfilling the gas tank and I had to clean the throttle body because of stalling issues. After cleaning the the throttle body the car runs flawless. The engine is soooo fucking smooth. Paint looks amazing. There’s chips and minor scratches here and there but not noticeable unless up close. I’m very happy how good she’s treated me. I am thinking of trading her in in the next year for a base model c6 corvette with a manual. I’m just nervous a corvette won’t treat me as well as the mustang gt has.
Edit. The one nightmare with the v8s are the spark plugs. Don’t change them until you do a lot of research.

Glad you’re keeping it in the family if you sell it. If that’s your first real car, one day, you’ll really want it back. Ask me how I know. The early S197 design is also classic, I really don’t think the S550’s will age as well in the coming decades regardless of performance. It’s like 3rd Gen Camaros vs 4th Gen. 4th Gen performed way better and when they came out everyone dismissed 3rd Gen cars but now that they’ve both been surpassed performance wise I see way more people interested in the 3rd Gen cars......and it’s all because of the more timeless looks.

At 78,000 miles went for an oil change, long story short they never did it....yea a week later the engine gave out. they checked the oil and saw I came in for one but it was never done. Then they tried to put a used one in it. Drive it one day and realized how underpowered it felt. Took it back the next day and they were forced to put a brand new one in it. It’s driven fine ever since. Now that my warranty is almost over I’m thinking about modding it.

Just bought an '07, but damnit Ford doesn't make the FR500's anymore. They were great for what I use the car for which is basically cruising, and rod runs. The commenters all have low standards. I have never replaced any alternators on any of our Acuras, going back as far as 1996. We drive our cars to the ground for thousands of miles. Imagine a 2005 Acura RL reaching 744,000 miles. No Ford could be driven so long. I am currently driving a 2012 Acura RL and would like a Mustang GT, with Acura-like reliability. Is it possible?

Luckily I was close to home to I made it before the car died. I’m guessing it’s the aftermarket radio I have that’s killing alternators

Hey man i’m about to cop a 2005 gt automatic with 100k. I’ve heard the 55r5 trans has some problems going bad between 100-150k for a lot of people. However some peoples have gone up to almost 300k. Obviously a lot of this is determined by fluid changes and how hard the car was driven..but the owner i’m buying it from said he’s never done a trans fluid or filter change. If i changed it first thing after buying you think I’d be alright? Or is a 100k trans that’s never been serviced a ticking time bomb?

In general, transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles. I have an Acura TSX, which is very dependable & made in Japan. I can't imagine a Ford not needing at least that.

My 08 gt transmission went out 135.00 . Cost me 4 bands 💰 to get another one.

Yo y’all think 2007 gt premium 4.6 worth 7800 with 160k miles worth it? It’s convertible black in good condition. Lmk

      Little bit high. I just got a 2010 GT 4.6 with 124 k miles for 9 grand.
I have noticed convertibles are slightly less expensive and 2010 is also newer shape.. so yours should be below 6 to consider it a good deal .
