  • Millennials, also known as the Generation Y are young people who were born in the period 1977 - 1994. They are characterized by their fascination with technology, they are not brand loyal, and they are sophisticated. One of the Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is our affirmation of the Spirit of Prophecy. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God written by inspired men and women. We also regard Ellen White as an inspired messenger of God whose writings, although she personally referred to them as "the lesser light" deserve our attention. Our conviction is that one's spirituality should be nurtured by engaging in fervent prayer, witnessing about Christ and constantly reading the Word of God and the writings of Ellen White. Having noted that Millennials are not loyal to any brand or worldview, and they are technologically oriented, how then can we influence them to recognize that reading Ellen White's writings is as pertinent to their spirituality as reading the Bible? This seminar, Ellen White, Millennials and Social Media will bring to the attention of the viewers three things, 1) Ellen White loved children and youth and was very much interested in their well-being. One is mesmerized by the plethora of counsels she has authored on numerous subjects that pertain to young people. Although millennials and social media are modern phenomena, I believe that millennials could glean valuable principles from her writings which could help them mitigate today's challenges. 2) This seminar will suggest guidelines that millennials could use to develop interest in Ellen White and her writings, lastly, 3) it will suggest ways social media could be used by millennials to share Ellen White's writings with their friends.
