    Spring Drive movements are just fantastic, make no mistake they walk the floor with almost any other movement. The "quarts part" is a mechanical part that is in place of the a normal escapement.. Spring Drive rocks it really does. Very nice watch, great colours for a white rubber strap too.

    The SBGE285 is beautiful and the spring drive is an electromechanical piece of genius! Its on my list of future watches. Some day!

    I have the SBGE285 and give this watch an A+ score. The finish and attention to detail is incredible. It is a perfect daily wear watch and not something that needs to be hidden away because it is too expensive or too fancy. The only point I would mark the watch down for is the band. It's a nice band but the lack of micro-adjustment is annoying. On the day I purchased this I had it fitted. Later in the day I had to return to the GS boutique as my wrist had expanded and the band was far too tight. They had to remove a half link and add a full link. So I wear the watch slightly loose to allow for expansion of my wrist when I get hot.

      This is the only reason I have not yet purchased the watch myself… I’m thinking I could get it by rocking a NATO strap with it. Would dearly love micro adjust for this watch!

      Good input. How is the titanium holding up to scratches/scuffs?

    • @anorax001
      @anorax001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Saucebawss I am fairly careful with the watch and try to avoid bumps so I can't verify the hardness of the titanium finish.

      I’m looking at the Snowflake and Mistflake love the spring drive and dials. The band is a let down though spending $6-8k and can’t get micro adjustment. You could put it on a strap that grand Seiko sells but you shouldn’t have to do that

    Great comment about the. winding feel. When I got my SBGA211 "Snowflake", I was shocked the first time I wound it. I was afraid there was a problem with it at first. Certainly unusual.

    Grand Seiko make some beautiful time pieces, but they just fall very short in the bracelets. If they can really create a nice bracelet with excellent adjustable class, they could really be a top contender against all the major players. $8,400 and no micro adjustments seems unreasonable.

    This is maybe one of my favorite fixed bezel GS Spring Drive GMT watch. I like the monotone look with this one.
    IF I were to get a GS Spring Drive GMT, I think i'd prefer one with the ceramic bi-directional bi-colored GMT bezel. There's an extra boldness and pop when I look at those.
    Either cases, wish I had at least $8-9k to spend on one.

    The price 0:27 killed me. You can buy a good running car for the money.

    • @anorax001
      @anorax001 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pricey but still for this model the price is good especially when you compare it to other luxury watch brands. Keep in mind GS watches aren't shot out of a generic Chinese factory and each watch is hand assembled from start to finish by one person in the GS labs and thoroughly tested over a number of weeks before being sent to stores. The labor costs for this would be substantial.

    • @anorax001
      @anorax001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonyvalentino1732 Everyone has their classic watch and everyone has their price point. As for price nonsense not really. The same could be said for any luxury watch brand. As for the Orient brand you do know it is owned by the Seiko / Epson group of subsidiaries. Orient is a fine budget brand like any other but the Akita Epson production facility is more of a mass assembly line and cannot be compared to the Grand Seiko facility where each watch is meticulously hand crafted and tested.

    No micro adjust. What do you expect for $8400. And you know that’s a bad future when you tell us I guess you have to wear it a little bit looser that’s a big fat no for what you get for $8400. You’re stuck to wear it a little bit looser really Rob. Rob tell it like it is tell him it’s a rip off for $8400. The band is also too wide.

  • @d.stiefel869

    Such an overrated brand. Too many models, too many movements, too many limited editions, too many annoying BS dial inspiration stories, models with bad time keeping, failure to listen to the wants of the collectors such as micro adjustments, cheap stamped clasps, too high of price increases. No idea why anyone would want to buy anything from this brand anymore.
