    Thank you for this video. I am new to mah jongg and so looking at the card is extremely overwhelming to see all those hands, so the way you narrowed it down by categories was excellent. Thank you!

    So I've watched the video's, practiced, and read all the tips on how to play....I still can not focus on selecting a hand...so I guess I'll stop trying and move on to something else. I'm either too OCD or my aged brain can not focus....sure was fun trying! Keep up the excellent work.

      Don't give up, Mah Jongg will bring years of joy into your life. Rather than focusing on selecting a single hand, try just picking a category of the 9 on card first. Collect all those tiles that are in the chosen category until you have no more discards and than choose a hand or two with your groupings of multiples. Did you catch this video about the card th-cam.com/video/CZ5DVgkTjio/w-d-xo.html Good Luck and let me know what other videos you would like to see. Take some lessons, I teach virtual and in-person email me at mahjonggclass@yahoo.com

      @@MAHJONGGCLASS Don't give up. It is confusing to everyone in the beginning. It will be worth the time it takes to learn. We are all overwhelmed at the beginning and picking a category is the most difficult but becomes much easier with practice. I hope you continue:)

      This is American Mah Jongg, played with National Mah Jongg Rules. There are many types of Mah Jongg.

    Just learning so it's not surprising that I am confused! lol Doesn't the 2468 need to be either one or two suits? You have a dot, bam, and crak for the 6. Would that work or do they need to be the same suit?

    • @ChristineBlackford
      @ChristineBlackford 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I pick a category such as 2468, I hold onto all 2468s regardless of their suit, you never know what you will pick from the wall during the game. Eventually I will get the matching suits of 6s I need but I don't know if that will be dots, bams or craks. I have plenty of other times to discard that do not fit in my category. Enjoy!

    so I don't know how the card works in relation to tiles. I need to see the category on the card. The video is too fast for a beginner.

      The card changes every year and starts on April 1 It would best to start with th-cam.com/video/CZ5DVgkTjio/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-r0HN2zvyV0SDinT. It's an excellent video to get a handle on using the card.

      The card is copyrighted to the National Mah Jongg League

      The card is copyrighted which means basically you are not meant to show it unless you obtain permission from the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL).

    Not at all like the Mahjong I know and play for decades. Don't know what the &*&&^$*( she is talking about.

      Considering this is a mah jongg CLASS - and you have been playing for decades, a smart person would have probably avoided this video instead of watched and been snobby about it. If you don't like her videos, make your own, genius. I found it particularly helpful, making your opinion null and void.
