    These are really easy to drive. Test drove one a while back, there's practically no adjustment needed unlike other cars and their interiors. This car is really just get in and go, and all the controls are intuitive. The visibility outwards is excellent, it has standard symmetrical AWD, only like 1 or 2 mpg less than a FWD Civic (which doesn't even come as a hatch) and it has the highest safety records for its class.

      In the UK we never got the 2 litre. Only came with the 1.6 which I had, and although it was a great sounding engine with the five speed box, it really needed another 30+ BHP.

    The 2016 impreza sport 4 door is the one i'm considering buying. Honestly I wish more than anything it was at these ridiculously low american prices. Here in Canada's it's much higher. Manual to CVT is nearly 3000 more.

    I rented the Subaru Impreza (hatchback version) for a weekend bowling tournament. It drove surprisingly good. Don't sleep on this vehicle. This is the sleeper in the compact car class.

    Eyesight was one of my favorite features, it never engaged on a test drive, but the fact it's offered in the compact class is an excellent option. Traffic has been getting worse for all the places on main highways and back roads which pushed the idea of the Impreza. It's still very high on my shopping list. Right now it's that and the Mazda 3.

      +Guy Portmonteau I'm actually thinking the same, except I'm more concerned about the CVT noise during normal acceleration or passing at highway speeds. People are claiming it to be annoyingly loud.

    • @Eeaotc02
      @Eeaotc02 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ajoh432 I test drove this model. You will receive wind noise depending how fast you go or how windy it is. Engine noise depends on how much RPM you input but it's not that loud compared to older cars.

      I just got a 2016 impreza sport premium wagon and the road noise is loud. The lag of the cvt when first shifted into gear is horrible. I just hope the cvt transmission last longer than my car loan! Because getting a replacement cvt cost about $8-10k

    So, I'm interested in getting a hatchback. What are some other good ones? I hear good things about the Elantra GT. Hoping Honda shows off the 5 door hatchback Civic soon.

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +SKEMETUBE The Elantra GT has terrible fuel economy in the real world. The Mazda3 if you want something fun but don't care about refinement. The Golf if you're willing to shell out a bit more cash, or the Focus if you can't afford the Golf but want something comfortable and stylish.

    • @Broba_Fett
      @Broba_Fett 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ChooChooTrain02 how mad is the fuel economy? I just want a hatchback that is reliable, fuel efficient and can be fun to drive. I hear a lot of bad things about the Ford Focus.

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Elantra GT gets in the mid 20s in terms of MPG and it isn't all that fun to drive. The Mazda3 fits your description perfectly.

    • @Broba_Fett
      @Broba_Fett 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ChooChooTrain02 does the Mazda 3 have good rear leg room and cargo space? I have a daughter so I'd like it to be a bit roomy in the back for the car seat. Thanks for all your input!

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rear legroom should be fine. The backseat is adequate, so two adults can fit in comfort, and a third person can be squeezed in for shorter rides.The cargo space in the back is pretty good, but the top of the bumper does stick up a bit so you can slide out your stuff. For door storage there's a bottle holder and a very small pocket.

    Is the seat higher from the floor in Crosstrek than in Impreza?

    • @kbb
      @kbb  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. But the Crosstrek's ride height is 4 inches taller than that of the Impreza.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sat in the Crosstrek and the seat was somehow higher than the regular sedans, close to the position of an SUV. Good to know Impreza got the same seating position. Interestingly, from Subaru main site the Impreza has more rear leg room than the XV. It says Impreza min. rear leg room 1105mm, XV min rear leg room 900mm.

    tell me again how a CVT automatic is more efficient than a manual? Aren't manuals by definition more efficient? Genuine doubt..

    • @gandharkothi6019
      @gandharkothi6019 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cvt's have gear ratios that can adjust on the fly. With a manual you may have to rev the engine to get to say a. Certain speed before up shifting but a cvt will just expand the gears keeping the revs low and engine load low.

    • @artilleryisbetter
      @artilleryisbetter 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gandhar Kothi CVT transmissions do not have any gears. They can emulate gears like a conventional automatic transmission.
