I love pottery, too. It’s my favorite thing to collect. I also collect blue and white dishes, the pieces can be mismatched but they somehow look good together.

Prices in Central Florida, They are ramping them up cause many people are looking for neat things. At community thrift in our area, which is a cash only place, which can be a bear, one of the guys had a small round table marked for $34. And when we asked him why so high, he said he goes online and to see what it's worth right now. And then marks it at 40% and if it doesn't sell then He marks it it down some more. And it will probably sell for $12. But they won't mark it at $12 and sell it right then. So if you see a nice piece down here it's being marked up. You will find a bowl that should be a fair $4 and It's $7.98. Then when you get it half-price you're still paying four dollars. And when Goodwill has their 1/2 off a certain color for the week, a former employee told me that they are instructed to go out the day before and pull all of the new color that is going to be on sale off of the racks and on the displays. They will leave a few items. Just enough to give you hope. But the good stuff disappears.... I had wondered about this for sometime. I will see specific items that are fairly priced. And then come back a week later that item might still be there but it's a higher price but now it's in the right color to be half price. Quite a game.
Great job in furnishing your home with "junk". I, too, love teal, aqua, turquoise. I have painted our bedroom and bathroom turquoise, added comforter, pillows and drapes turquoise and all towels are teal.

Hi Sonia! Yes, I love the candelabras in the window! They really look great there. So....I've been watching Dr. Lori on you tube also....she's an appraiser for all things! Her knowledge is amazing....and she shares it freely. She suggests always negotiating prices....even at the Goodwill and other similar thrift stores! Who knew? She says bring cash, be polite and negotiate. If you're not familiar with Dr. Lori....you should look her up....she's very funny and very interesting!

Sonia, Another way to make candles stand up straight in a candle holder is to wrap Saran Wrap (any plastic wrap) around the base of the candles.
I keep a set of candlesticks like that in the bathroom.. I love lighting them with a hot bath and a good book, reading by candlelight in the tub..lol..
Candle holders look great in the window. I adore Philip Pullman’s books. Have you listened to the audiobooks of them? I listen to them while I paint or clean. That aqua pottery piece is EVERYTHING! I love the two pottery pieces you made also. Bright and happy.

And listen while you paint! I love it. Makes cleaning/crafting SO much more interesting.

If the candles don’t fit tight enough in the candlestick holders you want to use put a little modeling clay in first. If your candlesticks are glass, you can get a package of modeling clay from the Dollar tree and use the closest color. Love those candlesticks, and they look great in the widow.

I honestly believe "thrift stores" by any name, try to cash in on what their manager deems to be trendy. If you are shopping according to what some celebrity or designor deems trendy... you will pay more. Way back when... well at least 20 years ago... Mine was milk glass. When I first started collecting, it was more money (although not outrageous)... but as the months and years went by... the cost adjusted downward. Trending is ALWAYS expensive. 😉

What kills me, just absolutely crawls up my back is when I go thrift and there on the shelf is Dollar tree items with 2.99$ on them. Come on. No reason for it. Lol Went thrifting today. Sooo many real great items I walked away from due to price gouging. They look to see what people are "asking" on eBay and that is what they price it. Not what it sold for..oh well..not like I didn't find stuff!! Lol

Impressive! I’ve taken ceramics for 3 semesters and NEVER was able to get anything off the wheel
I wish no one had to worry about the prices of used goods. Sadly though it’s not the case for many many people. Because I work with an organization for single parent with children, I am exposed to those that do worry about finding household items and clothing prices that they can afford. Yes the majority try to do with what they can from the dollar stores but finding a fry pan, or clothing is not something our dollar stores here provide. I realize that your audience, including myself probably don’t have these struggles, but in feeling what is happening with thrift prices is wrong, it’s because I do worry about those that have to depend on thrift stores just to have basic daily needs. I get your message, I am just hoping to share it’s not always about choice. At least for some. In fact, when we want to donate, maybe try finding an organization such as the one I work with or I am sure there are many in each of our areas that would love to receive donations to pass on to others in need. Difference in organizations such as ours do not charge for that is given, its free, just as we received it.
Dollar tree has tapered battery operated candles! They would look great in those candleholders!😊

AND... not to be a commenter hog... I've actually asked a manager or someone in the upper "management" if this was their best price?? I have walked away with pieces for LESS than half of what it was marked for. ESPECIALLY... if it's a larger piece that YOU are willing to take away by yourself (welcome Matt)... You really do save bigger.
