QAP which is called as Quality assurance plan is a set of documents which provides confidence that the product will meet the customer requirements where as ITP also called Inspection test plan is a Step by step detailed inspection sequence which provides the guide line to achieve the final acceptable product.
I can't compare both in regards to easyness, I suggest you compare your work with the certification you need for further growth in your life. After you choose it correctly crack the exam don't see which is easy or difficult
For piping inspector you need to do some years of experience for the respective field and further can attend API 570 to be a authorized Piping inspector.
Lay up is similar to Preservation after hydro-test, it can be dry or wet Lay up depends upon the requirements. Might be you heard about high chromium material ( stainless steel- Duplex and super duplex) are preserved with dry air or Nitrogen to protect the internal after Hydro-test. After Hydro a air flushing is usually carried out to ensure all the moisture removed from internal but still to give the internal protected a low dew point usually -5 degree dry air or nitrogen is used. Do we remove a safety valve or PSV during hydro??, that would be serious violation
A PSV must be installed during hydro at a limit set 1.1 times the hydrotest pressure for safety purpose.
