Just great! Oh my gosh, I lost a female goldy because the males were so passionate but "Rubinia" hadn't the possibility to "dock on" ... I've seen so many videos of you. You're a real professionell. Chapeau, Jennifer!
congratulations for sharing your experiences with all of us. I am very grateful I am in Brazil and I am now started with the big kid these fish beautiful. Again thank you.
Thank you. I am going to try this. I did not know that my Goldfish were having babies but now I see the eggs they are laying and no plants to lay in. However, maybe if I cannot get to this in time, it is a good thing? Cuz tons of Goldfish need homes.
I put one in my tank for guppy fry to hide in. I made mine from cotton string. I might try putting one with a weight in it so it looks more plant like and provides a hiding place near the bottom.
Jennie, Love All Vids =) !!! Great Job! Awesome! One of my favorites: The Christmas TanK Of Course!!! I'm sure you have inspired many people to be goldfish lovers.
Short answer is no you don't. Most fish when they lay eggs there is a natural sticky adhesive if you will, that allows the eggs to stick to most surfaces so no need to worry. My angelfish lay eggs on the filter intake all the time and they don't get sucked up at all.
I got a guard for the filter intake so no eggs or babies get sucked up just make sure the flow isn't too powerful for the babies when they hatch. Or get a sponge filter. Even though your comment is from 3 years ago 🙃
Once fry hatch do you have any suggestions for how to sell them. I am just going to breed some dwarf rainbow fish once or twice and I dont want to keep all the fry.
good video. defintley will make these for my pond. One question, when they do lay the eggs do I just take the mop out nd put it in a tank and they will fall off?
I don't know about platies myself, but I do know that guppies are livebearers, not egg layers. Usually the pregnant female is put in a little box to give birth that has a sort of v shape at the bottom for the babies to fall through into a separate bottom part she can't get to, because guppies ALSO do tend to eat their babies a lot of times.
its cool, i make mine the same! except i use an old film canister with the lid and fill it with old fish gravel so it sinks , i prefer the mop floating up 😄
Very informative! I have some White Clouds and I don't think the female is comfortable laying her eggs on my Melon Sword or Chain Sword plants, so maybe she'll prefer one of these yarn mops. On a side note, do you think shrimp will utilize a spawning mop as well?
I have a question on breeding Goldfish. What temperature are they ok with when it comes to breeding. Temp gets like 86 to 88 here sometimes, will they be ok anf if so will the breed at that temp?
hey, i have a little problem with my female oranda dobby (25 cm) she is ready to spawn but she won't drop the eggs like ever. my male mellow (same size) tries but can't pull it of. i'm worried that it wil stone inside here and that i may lose here. when i try to push it out myself it fails. do you have an idea?
We have an aquarium that is about 60 gallons, and there is no way there is a notebook big enough to accommodate the height of the the aquarium. Is there any substitute I can use for a notebook, or since it is a fairly large tank the size of the notebook does not matter? Thank you for all your help, this was a GREAT video!
In my fish tank a plant came out of the gravel and was just floating at the top and I didn't have time to put it back so I went to school and when I got back I found eggs all over it.
Can't wait till next Monday for a new video! Your vids is what make Mondays exciting
Hey Jennie, thanks for sharing with us the "birds & the bees" of goldfish!
Just great! Oh my gosh, I lost a female goldy because the males were so passionate but "Rubinia" hadn't the possibility to "dock on" ... I've seen so many videos of you. You're a real professionell. Chapeau, Jennifer!
That's such a great idea! It'll be wonderful to see some goldfish babies too.
congratulations for sharing your experiences with all of us. I am very grateful I am in Brazil and I am now started with the big kid these fish beautiful. Again thank you.
My Rykin and Oranda LOVE this. They love to swim through and hide in them!
Thank you for making this video. Getting ready to try mine with my Boesemani rainbows!
What a neat idea! I've never heard of this before.
Thank you for your beautiful information . I will try to make it for my goldfish family soon 😊
When tying the cork in, I would just use a zip tie. They survive the boiling for sterilization just fine, and it's a LOT easier than tying a knot.
Plastic have terrible toxicities when heated.
Jamie Burriola You do know what acrylic yarn is made up of right? LOL
Just read ur blog wow your goldfish have grown alot
yayy it's been a week since my goldfish eggs hatched, it's the very first experience and I have 17 baby goldfish :)
How to know when they will hatch
I love your channel and your hair. :D.. Thumbs up for all the info that you give out!!! Cheers!!
Great...great...great...very usefull...thanks for sharing!!!
Great ideas.....love this.....
this is great idea. I did same thing with a raffia string, only I planted it as an underwater plant, waving and all
You're welcome, glad it helped!
they look so great
Really nice !!!!
Thank you. I am going to try this. I did not know that my Goldfish were having babies but now I see the eggs they are laying and no plants to lay in. However, maybe if I cannot get to this in time, it is a good thing? Cuz tons of Goldfish need homes.
ur vids are awesome!!!! thank you!!!

This video made me smile =D
Doing this, thanks for the video :)
great vid, gotta try it! only one question, does the yarn have to be acrylic? or can it be any type?
Jennie,
Love All Vids =) !!!
Great Job! Awesome!
One of my favorites: The Christmas TanK Of Course!!!
I'm sure you have inspired many people to be goldfish lovers.
THANK YOU!! Finally I can catch those eggs :-)
Does it have to be yarn... with thread work as well??
What type of goldfish do you have? Are they butterfly tail ones?
What else could you use instead of cork ?
Can I use this for corydora fish like albino bronze black and peppered?
Thanks for the straight forward DIY - I will be making mine like this, best of the 5 how to videos I watched.
Hi solid,
I have 2 question
Which month goldfish breeding '
And how thy sexthem 🤍
Thanks for the guide, i made one np.
Do I need to turn the filter off so it doesn't suck the eggs up
Use a sponge filter
Kyler Carson depends on how close your filter is and what filter you have and how big your tank is
Short answer is no you don't. Most fish when they lay eggs there is a natural sticky adhesive if you will, that allows the eggs to stick to most surfaces so no need to worry. My angelfish lay eggs on the filter intake all the time and they don't get sucked up at all.
Kyler Carson yes
I got a guard for the filter intake so no eggs or babies get sucked up just make sure the flow isn't too powerful for the babies when they hatch. Or get a sponge filter. Even though your comment is from 3 years ago 🙃
Once fry hatch do you have any suggestions for how to sell them. I am just going to breed some dwarf rainbow fish once or twice and I dont want to keep all the fry.
is there any other replacements for the yarn?
Thanks for the vid really helpful and easy
Such a good idea! Can you make a video on how to breed goldfish? Thanks! (or should we sat, "tanks"?)
Thank for sharing Goldfish Sensei :-) I will definitely give this a try.
Such a simple thing. Thankyou :)
is it working with serpae tetras?
My fish get pregnant and give live birth to fry. Would these be good for fry to hide in or would they get lost/stuck.
Happy HopperZ
Fry can be smart. They'll just hide from time to time in there.
What kind of fish do you breed
Balloon Molly Luv yes this will help to save fry i did it and it worked
great video!
good video. defintley will make these for my pond. One question, when they do lay the eggs do I just take the mop out nd put it in a tank and they will fall off?
do u put the mop in the parents tank and than move into seprate tank or opposite?
Where did you get the Cork
Can i use this mop for any fish like guppies and platies plz answer thanks😄
Guppies and platies don't need spawning mops. They breed on their own
I don't know about platies myself, but I do know that guppies are livebearers, not egg layers. Usually the pregnant female is put in a little box to give birth that has a sort of v shape at the bottom for the babies to fall through into a separate bottom part she can't get to, because guppies ALSO do tend to eat their babies a lot of times.
Can you use cotton
Does it have to be acrylic?
Where did you get ur 75 gallon tank from? And how much was it?
how can you tell if the goldfish are male or female? also how do you know they are ready to breed?
would wool yarn be bad for them?
We can do that for all types of Goldfish ?
Please tell me what was the other option instead of yarn🙏🙏🙏
Does it have to be 100% acrylic yarn? Can I use a 70% acrylic and 30% wool safely?
what plant is that in the bankground..so beautiful
its cool, i make mine the same! except i use an old film canister with the lid and fill it with old fish gravel so it sinks , i prefer the mop floating up 😄
detailed and clear! Thank you very much :)
Is it possible to use is in koi fish ponds (can't seem to find any results from google)
Yes if they can't eat it than yes but if they can no
Works with all fish I’d think
have you had gold fish fry before?
Can I use normal wool
Can you use starfoam instead of cork and could you use corks out of a wine bottle
+Solid gold do you sometimes hand breed your goldfish or let them breed on there own
Nice idea! Subbed.
thank you for the video now I have baby fishes :)
Very informative! I have some White Clouds and I don't think the female is comfortable laying her eggs on my Melon Sword or Chain Sword plants, so maybe she'll prefer one of these yarn mops.
On a side note, do you think shrimp will utilize a spawning mop as well?
hey GREAT vid :) was wondering is there any other object you can use apart from cork ? please get back to me :) x
maybe you can use styrofoam(the one that does'nt scatter easily or the fish will eat it) or any stuff that float and safe for the goldfish
You can use a ping pong ball.
could you use this in a betta tank to give them a place to hide? thanks
+Solid gold when you put in fish tank then next day is your fish die?
I just done. They still alive
Dillon Chauhan Your grammars pretty bad
thank you so muchhh,,,, ill keep in touch ,,,, with your post,,
Once they drop the eggs do you have to remove the mop to another tank? would the cleaning of the tank harm the eggs? I love your chanel :) great info
Can it be a sewing thread insted?
I have a question on breeding Goldfish. What temperature are they ok with when it comes to breeding. Temp gets like 86 to 88 here sometimes, will they be ok anf if so will the breed at that temp?
I really miss her old videos (like this one)
hey, i have a little problem with my female oranda dobby (25 cm) she is ready to spawn but she won't drop the eggs like ever. my male mellow (same size) tries but can't pull it of. i'm worried that it wil stone inside here and that i may lose here. when i try to push it out myself it fails. do you have an idea?
NEVER touch a fish when it's spawning.
I don't have a cork is there something else I can use
I like your nails.😆
Hi!. nice vid. can i ask what kind of goldfish are they??. they're so cute!!
Cut a piece of cardboard the size of your tank.
I don't think the size matters because the fish will be the same size still
does it really matter what type of yarn you use or can you use any type.
Thank you I'll use this for my tetra breeding project.
Thanks for sharing thank you so much
Thanks so much! Im breeding M. boesemanis and need to make these. Awesome video.
is it possible to breed 2 different breeds of goldfish together, like a moor and a ryukin?
Great informative video! Are only the back and bottom of your tank painted, or are the sides also painted?
do all the eggs tend to be spawned on these mops or just a majority?
also, would you move the mops to a different tank or the adult fish?
It's so helpful
Thanks for helping!
Do you know if this works for koi as well?
I'm going to use this idea for my rummynose tetra. Does anyone know if I should use a stone or will it being water logged be enough?
This spawning maps work for every kind of fish? Would this work for mollyfish?
Dra Liene mollies a live-bearer
Mollies have live babies
Are your goldfish is breeding ?
What can I use instead of a cork?
Great video, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's always fun and interesting to watch your videos. :)
Can a fake plant that is plastic work for breeding
It worked for me.
Fake plants are harsh, I would avoid using them.
In my fish tank a plant came out of the gravel and was just floating at the top and I didn't have time to put it back so I went to school and when I got back I found eggs all over it.
Oceanti lol
Oceanti it’s also good
Awww, thank you!
could I use a bobber for this?
If you do put the bobber in after or the bobber might melt
how long does a mop last?
