    "ear to the ball" is one of the best ways I have heard that explained.

    Too funny - my coach is Cowx certified and this is exactly what he has me working on right now. As a fellow lefty I really appreciate the video and I for one love how technical it is. Understanding the biomechanics of the golf swing is not simple but it can be pretty enlightening.

    I hope you guys really hit this series hard! Very informative and interesting to see the contrast between Matt's and Ian's swings. Mr Cowx's knowledge is incredible and he explains things in a way I understand almost 100%. Loved it!!

    If this video shows you anything, its that making positive changes in your golf swing initially creates really horrible results, most people give up after about 5 shots not understanding theyre on the correct path to improving. this is a really great series

    Very educational. For example, I did not realize that there were distinct golf swing "patterns." Interesting to have this explained while comparing/contrasting Ian and Matt's lessons/goals/objectives. Love that this channel is always a new source of learning. This is well beyond the litany of tips/tricks found in other places. Really helps me appreciate what good golf coaches know and how they manage to communicate these concepts to students. Can't wait to see more.

    Love the series! My irons are the worst part of my game and my goal is to change that. My swing is hybrid of both your swings so this is a huge help to understand the iron swing. Couldn’t have come at a better time. My dad has a simulator and now I have some understanding of the iron swing and I can work on becoming a better iron player! Cheers fellas!

    Great series and following up on the work w/ LC. The description of the setup - "in ski boots" - and the feeling in shoulder are great things to call out. You would think these are almost incorrect feels if you were doing this on your own.

    I have been working on my trail elbow position almost identical to Matt's in this video. How the body moves and the "radius" helps explain this. I also found it interesting Matt's strike location was towards the heel as I am now finding my miss in that area. Where before it was always toe side. Thanks for the series guys.

  • @mikewilliams1479
    @mikewilliams1479 ปีที่แล้ว

    Last few weeks with a sore wrist my entire game has gone out of wack. Driver is a 2 way miss. irons sometimes get shanked or hooked, wedges are generally good short game and putting hit and miss. Rounds bounce from 79 to 90 on a regular. I want in the next 6 months that 79 is a normal score for me,. Will work on fixing everything to get there and get fitted too.

    I’ve been working on shot shaping on my own for pleasure. I find I can control a fade well, even hit a high slice with my driver on command. But drawing has been really hard. It’s interesting because my miss is a pull, especially on slice fixing tees ( A lot of the tees I play put the ball above my feet).
    I was just in my kitchen watching this, and in trying the guidance of the lesson I found a feel for maybe a similar swing to the goal of the teacher. I found keeping my arms close, especially my trail arm, created a more comfortable and fluid path. I’ve always had powerful hips from dancing as a kid, and this unlocked that I felt. Also, just doing phantom swings, I felt the ability to manipulate the path in all ways in relation to shot shaping. I even tried wacky swings, and I felt in control the whole swing. I love how the golf swing feels. Now I love it even more. Let’s take it out on the course!

    Always entertaining guys! Can I suggest a clear summary of both Ian's and Matt's issues at the start before Scott applies the cures or re-swing guides. It gives me an idea of where Scott is aiming (as a result) for both players. (since 2017/2018 I have seen their swings in different situations and didn't want to say what I saw. I just would like to know if I was on the same wave-length....or way off....as to what Scott sees....). Just a suggestion.

    • @SeidinhoDE
      @SeidinhoDE ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @cryptoking8060
      @cryptoking8060 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeidinhoDE Lasting change takes time and usually a lot of discomfort. Yet golf is like this, we have a decent swing and game but cuz of endless tech advancements in gear and coaching we feel "compelled" to use it all. In Matt's case perhaps making this big of a change leads to a more consistent scoring game cuz perhaps he doesn't score as well as he should with his current swing/game. That's all I can think of. Tweaking for the sake of tweaking is what happens when surrounded by endless options and gear/coaching offers.

    I've actually tried this pattern before and it was amazing for iron and wedge play but it didn't feel powerful because you can't take the trail arm too far away from the ribs. I couldn't bring it to my driver due to that.

  • @bomalmsjo1050
    @bomalmsjo1050 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, a very good lesson. Thank you very much! Maybe you/someone here below, could give me som help/advice. I'm right handed and every pro I've met said that I should swing the club from the right - due to a stronger trail arm/hand. When playing tennis I hit a double back hand. I also bat from the left when playing baseball, which is my "natural side". I can play golf from both right and left - my right driver is (more) inconsistent though... Which swing journey do you think would be the best for me?

  • @haricsl
    @haricsl ปีที่แล้ว

    It feels like this swing is almost like handle dragging the club to contact (ie holding off the release), hence why you probably have to have a stronger grip and more side bend. Probably would end up delofting the club as well. Not sure I subscribe to this swing theory but that’s my opinion

  • @Mat_Scott
    @Mat_Scott ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Side bend is not a good position to be in for folks with spinal disc issues. My chiropractor who golfs regularly promotes a more upright posture with more of a rotational arm swing for people like me with prior back surgeries. For me, the golf swing has become much easier, more consistent, and less pressure on my back.

    I asked this on Ian's lesson video, but nobody responded. If you aren't one of those people that tends to go inside on back swing then over the top on through swing or vice-versa, then why not go straight to the seatbelt pulling position....then straight out of the seatbelt pulling position? What would be wrong with that?

    • @VoodooZ

    I am Left handed and at the top of my backswing I noticed my right wrist is always bowed. Unlike most really good players. However, when I point my left elbow crease to the sky it seems to flatten out my right wrist in the backswing. Is this correct?

    • @VoodooZ
      @VoodooZ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think that depends on your grip... My grip is very weak so I need to really flex the lead wrist ala DJ and I still leave face too open at impact... from what I read, somebody with a strong grip wouldn't be able to (or need) to flex the lead wrist as much. In his setup tip, he mentioned the need to internally rotate lead arm and thus a stronger grip so that's what I need to do..
