(Edit: Fan theory is wrong, MW and Carbon protagonist are the same, Underground 1 and 2 are a seperate driver with his own story. I based this on first appearance of Rog in the game with his comment on what the underground let loose, and wondering how the MW protag would race in the daylight.)
Nikki is your ex girlfriend, Darius betrayed you by mixing up the cash bags and took the money for himself.
Long story short, Darius set you up, Nikki is mad at you because you never contacted her while being her boyfriend. Being framed for EMP'ing the opponents' cars and you escaping with the money that was meant for Darius' crew, you were most likely part of his crew along with Nikki and more.
You get a bag with useless paper, Darius gets the cash that was switched quickly before giving it to you and used it for whatever, car parts and to get the three underdogs under his control?
Whatever the reason was for this, no idea. Darius might have been afraid of your driving skills, that you would overthrow his position of best driver.
After this cut scene, Underground 1 happens.
One thing is for sure, the protagonist of NFS U1 - Carbon is one heck of an unlucky guy with his car crashes.

Slim Cognito Is that true? Rog specifically tells you at the start: Look at what the Underground brought up, lets see how you drive in the daylight. Not to mention the extra 10k cash you get for having a savefile in NFS U2. Might be EA being nice or a subtle hint.
Not making an own fanmade story, I am not that creative. The sole reason Nikki joins you later in the story is because she realized Darius was going to screw you over and looked back at the past where she finally realizes that he was the one that set you up and got the cash himself.
What I, made up if you want to call it that, was the fact that Nikki, the ex-girlfriend of the protagonist, you and Darius were in the same crew. Why else would he loan his Supra to you to win (for him?)? And that the protagonist was possibly going to overthrow Darius. This is pure speculation from my part.
It is true actually, my bad for getting that wrong that the Underground protagonist is different from the MW and Carbon games. But since Rog mentions you being active in the underground racing scene, it is not a 100% sure if he is or isn't. Doesn't have to be, might be a nice nod towards the player him/herself.

For speedrunning, ALWAYS go with muscles. Sure, they don't have much grip but you can easily overtake ANYONE in canyons, and if you can keep yourself in the lead for 10s you save up to 5 minutes.

I prefer evoVI, the best all-around car in game i think. Also in canyon you could easly turn that bends

The rx8 uses a rotary engine which is designed to be reved well beyond the limits of a normal car. They come from the factory with a 9k RPM redline.
Low mass, and only 2 rotors that serve as the spinning parts. Pair that with good balancing and there's your recipe for easy high revs.
@@Yes-TheRealOne the biggest thing is that a rotor based engine doesn't have to reverse direction of travel on any parts. It doesn't fight its own momentum like a piston based engine does once the compression stroke is complete.

I really hate that you can't earn money in Carbon like you did in MW. You complete a race, than it only gives you 500 if you do it again. I want to pimp my cars not manage my bank account game.

Damn, last time I played I was 12. Remembered it took me multiple days to complete the game. But then I'd try to play "cleanly" and win as many races as possible lol.

i dont know its a great car but when i fully upgrade it, it just isnt as good as the top 5 cars you get when you finish the game.
Ricy Legend You leave the tranny and suspension stock on it. And with a certain setup. Also, you should use it with manual transmission.
i got the logitech g920 and the game is kinda struggling to keep up witht he console , its fucking up and i dont lik eusing manual on keyboard so

You know, on the last stretch vs Darius, if you are running out of points, you can just press the brakes and make him colide with you, getting 5000 points every time. Do it about 3 times and you'll hit the finish without a problem.

While scouts are better at ensuring wins, speedruns are all about getting YOUR car to the finish line as fast as possible, so I'd suggest at least trying to making use of the drafters.
Nikki gives you a 50% NOS bonus, which would surely come in handy!
Yumi gives 25% NOS boost, so she's probably a more reliable source of speed than Colin, actually...

I had a fully tuned mercedez, kept losing. Sold it, bought a skyline and used a speed breaker glitch that let you essentially take corners super sharp and keep the majority of your acceleration that I found out by accident not long before reaching the last races with Darius, and used it to win lol
i remember beating darius in the carrera gt in the canyon and im like holy fuck why is this so hard, then i see a video of someone deleting darius out of existence with a lancer and i was like smh
I beat this game when I was 9 with a Corvette on the Wii I remember the game being a cake walk till the very last race with Darius. Then... the challenge series
I recently beat the game with the Supra because I had started the game with the Camaro and couldn’t unlock the Skyline. It was possible to overtake Darius at one of the last turns of the Canyon if you can keep your acceleration while he is trying to complete the full turn, which gives you a chance to sweep right through the centre, though it took me several attempts.
I use speed breaker on the skyline when i get near turns. if you double tap it and flick in the direction you want to go at the same time, the car will take a super sharp turn without losing much of your acceleration if done correctly. You could also lose a lot of speed from it if it wasn't done right, but you can essentially do 180s with it really easily. I used it on the last race against Darius to go around the really sharp turns and it's what made me win. There was a time I used it on a different car and managed to make it do a 360 at a fairly low speed.

If you want guaranteed pinkslip from boss pick the one which you like the most and when you choose first that boss its always third card from left. Also Kenji can be dealt with in first stage second left turn (the sharpest one where you can fall) and you dont need to do the stage 2.

as for some issues you talked about in this about carbon I thought the cop chases were just not necessarily emphasized in Carbon, especially since the game isn't about becoming the most notorious/most wanted, but tries focusing on different aspects than most wanted such as deeper customization, crew, and car types just because of the fact that it was a game that came afterwards (just making sure I don't sound critical towards most wanted).
I personally thought the cop chases were always there for you in carbon tho, since I could always go start a cop chase and have it become intense. As for the cops who seem to be stupid i think that might just be the heat 1 or lower level cops, since the corvettes definitely don't go easy on you or once youre in a higher heat in general

Took me 2 hours to beat the Darius canyon race. Using a fully tuned Skyline. I must've messed something up in my config or something. He's not supposed to be THAT hard, is he?

I think the best starting car the Romeo, because after Wolf you got Colin, who give the better acceleration and the better turnin ability on higher speeds. Yes in the tight corners Have to Timebraking, but overall faster than slowing down.

a quick tip, if you wanna get busted really fast, respawn your car right next to the cops, on the most wanted usually ends up in an insta-busted, should work for Carbon too

as i understand..the main guy went away...then it is acually NFSMW story and then this story happens...it is clear because if you listen what Neville says..(so you are from rockport)....it makes sense that MW story happens in a gap between him leaving and returning to palmond

it does make sense that cross is still there, at 2:17:30 Darius says he never paid Cross off, Nikki made a deal with Cross to pay him off and has sided with the player, the reason why Nikki is mad at the player in the start is because she only heard the story from Darius, she starts to hear from your crew members and they all add up, what I don't get about this is she says part of the deal with Cross is she has to race with you but there's no consequences if you don't hire her

basic drifting lesson i learned:carbon drift mechanics sorta work like this
hold down to get closer to the wall and hold up to get away from the wall

also to get more points you just need to stay at the yellow stripes as opposed to being really close to the wall
and when you reach the red stripes hit nitrous cos the red stripes usually indicate a straight road but stop using your nitrous when you reach the green stripes

Would it be faster if you unlock the 240sx from the challenges, then taking the Alfa Romeo as your starting car, selling it then buying the 240sx?
Not sure if it's right or not but when you're driving slow while sal's scouting is active, he will slow down to your speed as much as possible. So back the days when i was playing Carbon, I was using scouts' active when they were behind so they can catch up. IMO they are driving faster when their active isn't active (except when they're behind you). Same with drafters, just different active.
Man I played through this years ago and I really don't remember the rubber banding being that cancerous. I did play exclusively in muscle cars tho so maybe they were just so much faster it didn't matter much. Def went Camaro, Mustang and then Viper back in the day and I remember dominating.

I've beaten Carbon 7 times and from what I've seen, everyone has a different idea of what the "best" way to go through this game is, and that's what I love about this game. I'm a muscle car guy and most of the times I've beaten the game have been in a muscle career, but plenty of folks fly through this with the other two classes.
That said, was super frustrating to see him try and win a Speedtrap race against tier 3 vehicles while driving the RX-7. Speedtrap races are the worst for me, especially in the beginning of Silverton. A fully maxed Charger is what I progress through most of the game with and with me it keeps up with tier 3 well enough, but I hunt for a tier 3 vehicle as soon as I can so I can make my life easier lol.
I say Darius didnt pay the bounty at all, he just gave him like 10K so he doesnt arrest the player for a while
