First Cluj Tram equipped with Bosch Forward Collision Warning System

In May 2023, Bosch equipped a tram from Cluj-Napoca with a frontal collision warning system that assists drivers in critical traffic situations. A project carried out by the Bosch Engineering Center Cluj, the Cluj-Napoca Public Transport Company and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, under the patronage of the Cluj-Napoca City Hall, materialized by equipping a tram with the latest generation Tram Forward Collision Warning system (TFCW) developed by Bosch Engineering GmbH.
Consisting of a multifunctional camera, a radar sensor and a control unit, the TFCW system monitors the trajectory ahead and any possible obstacle in front of the vehicle in real time. If it detects a potential collision, it sends a warning to the driver. The tram will also be used for research and development purposes by cross-divisional engineering teams from Bosch Engineering Center and Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
