wow it is incredible, hopefully the Kayak crews are all safe.. Mlive was able to record the scene of slicing Rocks cliff. subscribed to your channel...
We were there two weeks later. On the boat tour guide says it happens all the time. Showed us some from past years. Just glad the people in kayaks were not hurt.
For those of us that are uninformed, does anyone know what island, or state for that matter, this was filmed at? Love those outdoorsy trips. Kayaking the Great Lakes, awesome
Munising Michigan. In the Upper Peninsula. They have a boat ride you take. 3 hours long on lake superior. Just went there last weekend. It was fabulous
Been there, a very beautiful place but don't get to close. Those are sandstone cliffs and very susceptible to erosion !!! I believe it's said to be one of the most photographed places in the world
Wow! What a rare experience! How often does this happen? I would think only a few times in 100 years. Also - drone license? you need a license to fly a toy with a camera on it? So much for land of the free. Seriously! Pretty soon you will need a license to use a square plate.
I’m a kayak guide here. We see rockfall every single week. Obviously it’s not generally this big and it’s usually not caught on camera but this is very normal
It is beautiful! But not an island. It's on the southern shore of Lake Superior. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You can hike in the park or take a boat tour along the cliffs.
That's what's happening to the lakeshore near the Scarborough bluffs area. The shoreline is erroding and collapsing people are trying to sell their homes near the waterfront lol
Any chance this was planned. Someone saw some distress in the rock so they planned a controlled removal of the rock so it wouldn't hurt anyone. That's why they just happened to have a camera rolling and there were people in kayaks watching.
"Jon Smithers" You better watch yourself! You are flying in a FAA restricted area. All National Parks have restricted drone flying. You just gave yourself the ticket by posting the video, as evidence!!!
This seems to be pretty cheerful music for something that has happened as a result of the high water levels, which are a result of the climate changing.
This has happened year every since the glaciers receded 15,000 years ago. Which I guess is when climate change started naturally, not 50 years ago artificially.
That’s an experience those kayakers won’t ever forget
Oh that’s for sure
Check out what happened in Brazil. 10 dead
Mother Nature wanted to make a small change to her masterpiece. That scenery is beautiful.
I was up there diving on a wreck just off the pictured rocks in 15 feet of water when that happened near us. Sounded like a a big jet flying over.
What are the odds?? The drone passing by that exact spot as it happened *and* the kayakers almost getting killed below. Remarkable.
It's amazing that the water splash went as high as the cliffs. As I recall, the cliffs are 200 feet high in some spots. The kayakers are lucky.
Just took the tour today and the captain said we could find it here. What an awesome occurrence for this guy to film.
The lake it is said never gives up her dead
That would scare me shitless if I were in that kayaking group lol
That's why one should never kayak in waters like Superior without knowing how to roll it.
My wife and I were just there last week AND SHE wanted to go kayaking...holy cow
You should've gone. Nothing would have happened.
This is so good just like watching the glaciers collapsed
Dang! I would love to see such a thing in person! Those kayakers are lucky sons uh guns!!
wow it is incredible, hopefully the Kayak crews are all safe.. Mlive was able to record the scene of slicing Rocks cliff. subscribed to your channel...
I was literally just there 3 days ago!
My kayak would have needed a cleaning. Myself included.
newbee509 you my friend made me laugh. Thank you
"Hey, kids! Come closer to the edge so that you can get a better look!"
Brazil. 10 dead
This happened in Brazil where people were relaxing on the boats. 10 dead many injured. Stay safe people.
Those kayaks were really close
We were there two weeks later. On the boat tour guide says it happens all the time. Showed us some from past years. Just glad the people in kayaks were not hurt.
I was on this tour a week before under that rock.. Crazy stuff

I was just there seven years ago. WOW!!
LOL
amazing video. Kudos to the kayak guide who moved his group further out.
They were paddling closer after the collapse. Guess they didn't realize how lucky they were the first time.
yes it is amazing hope all are safe
We were just there hiking the trail last week. Yikes!!!
15 years ago I was there and joined the boat trip. Unfortunately, the trip was cancelled within 10 minutes due to the strong wind.
A couple of those kayaks must have "sprung a leak" when that happened.
Do you mean a couple of those Kayakers sprung a leak?

Be on top and stomp around.
Yikes...just kayaked here Saturday...
I'm surprised no dumbbells built houses there..🤷♂️
It's federal land.
Cool video? How did he obtain permission to fly the drone in National Park Airspace?
According to the linked article he was just outside of the park limits.
How lucky were those kayakers, awesome to watch but shiting themselves at the same time.
We were just there last week!
It's like watching glaciers collapse.
Message is quite clear.
STAY BACK from Cliff (Above and Below).
Probably had to jump in and rinse off after that little experience!

Do the corncob up the boogie? I was a guide there for 40 years.
Is sniffing your smug satisfying
Every week? Really? My son is up there now and he might go kayaking. Do you suggest people keep a certain distance from the shore? If so, how far?
@@HomeAtLast501 I like that your home at last
We really need to do something about global warming, Now the damn rock cliffs are melting
@Perry Rose hey clearly you have no concept of humor or cognizance of a joke. dumbass
Sarcasm?
The water shot up 50 feet high, that would've effectively deleted those kayakers
Brazil. 10 dead.
Oh my..😱We were there on that weekend 10th and 11th.
Great catch
Love to live on that island 🏝

@@Patty-to3rp okay ...thanks 👍
cool to see the cliff be reshaped on video
Whereabouts? Not used to seeing sandstone(?) on the shore of the Big Lake.
Munising, Michigan. (U.P.)
Wow!
Did those kayakers almost die?
Let me translate Mother Natures language..."GO KAYAK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!"
Wow. I used to live near there
0:28 that one was the coolest
I was the two weeks ago
"It's global warming!!!! AHHHHHH!!! We're all gonna' die!!!!! ... Oh..., no, wait. Never mind. We're fine. False alarm, my bad."
We have kayaked that section!
So this is what chunk boarders look like in real life.
¡I was there two days before!
It's been eroding for a long time time now
That's what's happening to the lakeshore near the Scarborough bluffs area. The shoreline is erroding and collapsing people are trying to sell their homes near the waterfront lol
Yikes...I watched this video about a year and a half after it happened, from my couch. Close call
and to think I almost built my dream home in that spot
It's part of a national park, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Oh my!😲😱😢
สมัยยุคเก่า
Holy Jesus, I bet those kayakers wee surprised. The music is REALLY annoying.
Turn your sound off
Cliffs of Insanity!
Looks like Australia
BACK UP BRAD!!!
It's also illegal to drone there
If they paddled a bit more they could have died
The water looks like my toilet about 29 minutes after Chipotle
เขาน้อยไปเบาแล้ว
OMG all that cliff is gone and it can’t be rebuilt
It's nothing new, it's been happening for thousands of years.
Thanks a lot OBAMA
Wow! And it didn’t take millions of years!
It did so
You are watching a process, not a moment

The drone missed the start of the collapse. And the kayaks were awfully close. So I doubt it.

@@dtown5995 Climate always changes. What's different now is people are causing it to happen quickly.
Nope, it was natural. This area is part of the National Park system.

I don't think a National Lakeshore is the same as a National Park.
@@StopMAGA He wasn't IN the park. Not to mention Lake Superior is probably considered International Waters
@@rattgirl713 If you're going to chime in then answer this: Is Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore a national park?
(I didn't think so)
Would not even involve the FAA. It's National Park rules that we followed to the letter ..... you know absolutely nothing about this & it shows.
@@gtpjon Great footage!

How's it going in NPC world?

Trump's fault
Wow! What beauty - and what evidence of nature's changes - accelerated by man and his/her lack of mindfulness!
