Thank you so much. I have been reviewing many videos trying to get a complete thorough process for canning and using the nesco canner. I am new to canner and have been afraid to just jump in. Your complete explanation gives me confidence! Thank you. Cleaning and soaking my beans for tomorrow!
Can you combine different types of beans in one jar? Like a combination of pinto, black, and kidney beans? I almost always combine those 3 beans in recipes and it would be so helpful to have a large jar already combined.
I really appreciate your video!! I have the same canner and although I used it last year for canning, I'm only canning for one person so I need to be reminded each year on how to use it. I love the idea of the jar in the middle because that is wasted space. For the amount of jars that you used in this video, did you use 2 lbs of beans?
I have 1 Nesco &1 Carney of these electric canners. Also a Pesto 21 qt canner! Since my back got hurt worse from a FALL 3 years ago I have not PC anything! Tons of Jars in storage. Trying to come to grips with selling them. 😢 Thanks helping these younger and older people that want to can! ❤
I love my electric canner. I gave to be careful with my back too so I live doing small batches. It’s hard to let go of the large canners I understand that completely. Thank you for watching and sharing.
I recently canned a bunch of pintos and filled the jars to 1" headspace, then added boiling water to fill in the spaces. All the jars sealed, but most of the liquid was absorbed and they look pretty dry, just as you said. Are these beans safe to eat or do I need to discard them?
@@CharlotteDunn-w5e no I didn’t because the beans are not packed in the jar but are swimming in the bean water. Normally you de bubble when you pack solids in the jar then pour in the liquid. You can do a de bubble if you want but there shouldn’t be any.
Hello I a newbie to your channel, I did the pre-soak according to (Usda) my beans tasted bitter -I put them hot jars -added ketchup mixture with a little bean juice -turn canner on (gas) I started out slow raising temp, till it reached 15-17 pounds the giggler, giggled at 17 I turned down to 15-16 gig stopped but pressure stayed entire time (sealed perfect) It’s second time this happened, it an AA canner but I have A presto and a maid of honor I ❤️❤️them all So it’s me not the canner pls pls heeelp 😅😅 Tia I enjoy your steps
I am confused. You must have skipped steps. If I soak my beans overnight, do I need to boil them? If I do the quick soak and boil them, then why do an overnight soak to end up boiling them?
@@gsh4485 regardless of whether you are using the overnight soak or the quick soak method, you still have to boil your beans for 30 minutes before putting them into the jars. The quick soak method includes a two minute boil in place of the overnight soak so this means if you’re doing the quick soak method, you would boil your beans for two minutes then you would rinse that water off at that point you would begin the same process that you would if you had soaked overnight, which is boiling them for 30 minutes in fresh water. I understand it could be confusing. I was wanting to show both methods.
@@robinpesek3657 the process is the same as the quick way the difference is one way is boiled the other is soaked. All the rest is the same. Rinse the soaked then boil them for 30 minutes.
Looks great 😃
Willing to see any canning recipes as long as they are approved recipes. Don't want to play Russian roulette with my family ❤

@@braindead5599 yes you can. Just be sure to follow the same method for all of them. Overnight or pre boil
Yes

Did you soak/boil them for the pre canning step?
@ButterflyMeadowsHomestead yes, I soaked them overnight and boiled them for 30 minutes before canning.
@ they should be fine. When you get ready to eat them just add some water and heat them up.
@ButterflyMeadowsHomestead Thanks. I was a bit worried that they didn't have enough liquid to can properly!
Sorry I did not see you debubble the jars… did I miss that on the video?

how much salt to add per pint jar?
