Trickers, John Lobb, Loake, Cheaney, Church’s, are still some of the finest shoes in the world.

Apart from my family, the three things I love are, quality hifi, quality watches, and quality handmade shoes from Northamptonshire.

Very interesting. One thing , we pronounce River Nene as "Nen" not "Neen" .

Good effort. However, one or two errors. Northampton wasn’t the shoe capital of Britain, it was the shoe capital of the WORLD, and really still is. That’s the second error. You say that Northampton isn’t the ‘shoe capital of Britain anymore’. Well, if it isn’t, what is? Where else are they producing world class quality shoes in Britain? They are all produced using third world labour. Even some of the Northampton companies, much to their shame, are beginning to play the same trick. It is wrong and we need to start bringing back the shoe making industry back to Britain and put emphasis on quality that lasts over cheap rubbish. Tragic how so many of the young people were completely ignorant of the great shoes being made less than a 10 minute walk from where they are being interviewed. Tragic but typical. There are forces that hate the idea of people having pride in their heritage. And what a glorious heritage!

Well said. Dr Martens was once a great boot maker, the Griggs family, with quality leather ect. Most of there production has now gone to asia, they still make boots and shoes, but not as much as they use to sadly. !!!

Side note, those young kids can't afford most of the shoes on sale by those companies. I myself am saving up for a pair from Loakes

Northampton does shoes because of the tanneries that were there.
