LILLEY UNLEASHED: Canada’s job growth numbers flawed by increase in public-sector work

- Sun political columnist Brian Lilley says the recent jobs increase of 90k workers, in April, is flawed because the majority went to the public-sector. The underlying figures don’t support what the Trudeau government is telling Canadians.
Canadians need to take the street to remove this government
imma take it to the ballot box
They took the streets to express disapproval and got their bank accounts frozen. Not interested in a Parliament Square Massacre.
@@jimmyzhao2673ya cuz it worked last time
Won't happen. There is no unity among Canadians since the country has become too diverse with so many different views and opinions.
@@dannybagga8133 diversity is your strength in canada 😂 I myself de-emigrated back to eastern europe where I can experience something new for me which I call "Cultural Unity"
When is the last time you phoned a call centre and talked to someone you could understand!

After waiting on hold for over an hour, I had to hang up because the accent of the federal employee was so strong I couldn't understand a word he was saying. DEI is working.
Trudeau increasing immigration = votes.
Trudeau increasing public servant jobs = votes.
Votes yes, but also a hedge against the Tories attempting to roll anything back since the unionized public service will do the fighting for them. Liberal play book.
no joke, the CUPE Union is *very powerful.* They funnel a lot of money towards candidates they favour
@@jimmyzhao2673yes Liberal or NDP! Unifor funded the “stop Harper” campaign which took Canada from a thriving affordable economy to this rap!
How is it that a country like Canada who is resource rich but the citizens are dirt poor ?🤔
All its doing is increasing inflation and robbing the youth of their future
Waste of all our tax dollars.
No need for all those jobs.
Yes there is, public service workers vote liberal.
@@donm2067private sector jobs and taxpayers pay for the wages for the public sector government jobs so if only public sector jobs are the only jobs available and private sector jobs declining well unfortunately our economy goes more in the toilet
I don't understand why the party is still called "Liberal", and not "Socialist".
Pragmatism and clever branding. Same reason Trudeau and his father before him, placed themselves in the Liberal party and not the NDP.
A socialist can never get elected PM in this country UNLESS they cloak themselves in the rhetoric and trappings of a centerist. Classic bait and switch.
Marxist Party of Canada!
I think of it as just a name. Just like their policies, a lot of words, not alot of good.

Canada is broken 💔..ask the people moving out of Canada
I have emigrated from Romania into Canada in 95. I left back in 2018. One of the worst changes of my life was moving to Canada. One of the best things I've done for my life was moving out of Canada.
I did not have the guts at first, I thought it would be a lot more difficult, but in fact it was very easy and there are only positive outcomes from this for me.
Canada is on a fast track to becoming a third world country, demographically, socially and economically.
Yeah jobs for immigrants not We the Canadians people who are jobless.
Even immigrants are not getting jobs
And all minimum wage jobs. This is how to keep wages low and everyone poor.
Got any proof of your race baited comment?
Jagmeat and Trudo are partners working for the WEF. They're trying to replace us with cheap labor. Check out the temp foreign residence (TFR) protest happening in PEI and the TFR protest that the Manitoba gov caved in to a few months ago.
NDP and Liberal socialist trying to scam voters
If you actually want to lower home prices and renting costs you need to do these things:
1) Cut immigration drastically - mass immigration has created excess demand which has placed upward pressure on prices. Mass immigration actually caused the housing crisis.
2) Send back the huge number of "temporary foreign workers" and international students in very large numbers. This will reduce demand for rentals and bring down renting prices quickly which will help young canadians the most.
That's what will actually help. We don't need more homes, we need far less immigration. We didn't have a housing crisis before mass immigration.
Your wrong. You need to cut the bloated government and get rid of public health care. This is the real problem.
Cut immigration to 100,000 for next 5 years then cut public services by 50,000 reduce personal taxes .
@@rupasandhu6061 Yeah I'm sure cutting public healthcare is really going to improve all of our lives. It's the middle-management administration types that need to be cut, and most of those jobs exist only to facilitate vast immigration.
It's obvious this is intentional.
Make the old stock Canadians poor.
Make Canadians work instead of collecting welfare, ei, and other silly benefits…then we would not need temporary foreign workers….have students on Visas pay up front for medicare..non refundable..they do that in the UK..$1000 per year..up front
Over 20% of jobs being some form of government job is Soviet Union levels of government employment. We all know how that ended.
Exactly
Isn’t that where we are heading when mass automation and AI are adopted and refined…
@@consensualcode9750 I don't know... maybe, but then there may not be that much to "administer" or build or manage on the government end. And to clarify some of those government jobs are real jobs: nurses, soldiers, sailors, airmen, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, waste disposal, etc. I think the part that's upsetting many people is that we're hiring proverbial paper pushers or people who write policy... it's practically adult daycare at that point. It's the paper pushing jobs, I think AI and automation ought to eliminate.
Like Cuba Regime
Thank you for letting the people know whats really going on.
Its called destroying a county.
Canadians should get jobs first before all others in Canada .
After i got my managers role i only hired people from my home country. Local resumes go directly in the trash. Canada is easy pray. Canadians are weak and stupid. They will do nothing.
We need an election NOW!
Again, could not be stated more clearly, no one should trust Justin to run a lemonade stand…
"It is not fair to newcomers and it is not fair to Canadians" - that sums it up.
The fact that newcomers has to be said first for this point to be effective is hilarious.
We need an immigration moratorium across all steams of immigration not just temporary immigration but also permanent immigration too. We need to send back the huge number of excess immigrants that JT/Singh have imported over the last 8.5 years
Yup and none of them should be allowed to vote or have government jobs
It would have to be more , from the 80s as well. The Chinese have destroyed the middle class,by buying all the houses. Plus chinese never work in construction, and ive seen far to many chinese doctors playing favorites, with chineses patients. Somthing gotta be done. Also out of the last 1.2mill less the 2000 went into trades, the fuck
Thank you Brian for exposing these idiots in Ottawa for their deceptive practices.
Notice how Canada discriminates against Cdns when hiring?
When government grows, the people get smaller.
the people get poorer.
at least the ones doing productive work.
Thanks BL for your ongoing reports, they help fill in alot of the gaps!Milt Friedman once said...."Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money".Enough said.Canadians are done with the "social policies".Canadians deserve to hold onto their money and get the government out of the way!!!!Time for the Big Boys....
Bringing in the worlds poorest people to one of the most expensive countries in the world is not humane in any way
I have 25 years professional experience and I've been unemployed since my small business was obliterated during the pandemic. I'm now competing with thousands of foreign techs students for jobs with foreign tech employers in Canada.

I'm 25 and I can say that the people aging between 40-60 years are doomed in Canada. The mass immigration of students aged younger than these people, are with more energy, more time and are ready to work with full potential at a bare minimum wage in hope of once making it big in canada.
Replacement of these 40-60 years old fellow canadians are happening for which they might never find a job for which they can survive as these minimum wages won't take care of their mortgage itself. Canada has betrayed its population for cash cows who have been sold a false Canadian dream. Neither of the age class will benefit from this. Saving $10000 per year is very difficult in this economy, and these students will not even recover the amount they have invested even if they work for 10 years.
I’ve been looking for a job for 6 months now. I can’t get one, even ones I’m severely over qualified for. I’ve never in my 25 years of working life, experienced this.
I know why it’s happening now though… It’s because I’m not from India.
Pls eloborate on this a bit
@@arvindg2871 before Trudeau let in a million people per year, we had a small population that was well managed. He let in so many people that there aren’t enough jobs to go around and everyone hires the immigrants because they’re cheap labour… and if businesses don’t hire them, it’s considered racist, a big no no. And they can get fined. So now a lot of businesses ask if you’re a “minority” and they openly say, they take “minorities” before anyone else. So now people are hiring based on ethnicity over qualifications.
I’m a dental office assistant, and 5 offices close to me won’t hire anyone unless they speak Punjabi. If an office stated that they only hire people who speak english they’d be shut down or fined.
On a side note, we also have a housing shortage now because of the immigration floodgate being opened. Trudeau has ruined Canada
Liberal B. S. No end to it!!
I hope Canadians are waking up!!
Oh my my my. Federal government workers and less education and many Canadians have to part-time work and not enough employment and short on funds to live, shortage of food, this is definitely a Canadian-wide issues. Thank you for the information. I am definitely sharing
Yet getting any help from service Canada still remains almost impossible and when you do get through, it's NEVER SECURE! They answer from personal phones and I find that to be grossly inappropriate.
more than half of the increase job positions are government related, that means those jobs are eating the taxes, not helping economy growth.
if considering the + and -, the increased jobs are basically cancelling each other. There is no job growth at all.
Failed immigration policies for the past decade now brought us a pain that will take another decade to pay off.
It is time to constrict the immigration and oversea labour import, Canada's job market needs more time to breathe and consume.
Stop spending more money on government, stop growing government sectors, leave room for private business to grow.
Making government bigger is breaking the working person! This is not good!
It's seasonal work inflating the numbers.
High Number of Govt. Jobs ...Prime reason for low productivity.. no answerability to anyone....People's money...who busy searching for jobs on streets.
GDP down
Our politics have become all about the politicians 'gravy train' and not about everyday Canadians. Political reasoning is based on superimposing 'better for you and I' over the politicians greed for more money and power, the real motivation for liberal politics today.
The numbers are insane. I can't believe that 52% of jobs created were government jobs. The percentage of people working in the public sector is 50% higher than the US, so the difference in the health of our economies now makes more sense. I fear we could go the route of Argentina if the government doesn't change soon.
Are they newcomers getting all those cushy jobs instead of Canadians? I'll bet they are.
The worst is yet to come.

Shocking absolutely no one.
How many of the new full-time jobs could afford a house in this country without fraud.

It's funny how I've turned to the Sun for the facts. In high school my english teacher told us that the Sun was for highschool grads, the Star for college grads and the Post for university grads. I shouldn't have believed him, he was only teaching because he was a failed author. Thanks for the clear facts Toronto Sun.
I'm from Nigeria. I got a job at the Ontario courts translating English-language statutes into African languages. I speak Mmbonga and Jobababa primarily. Our community is drastically increasing in Ontario, so I guess the criminal code etc. needs to be more transparent to my people. The pay is really good. I spent 6 months working at McDonalds before I got hired at the court. I've only been in Canada 14 months, but so far things are going great. I didn't even think I had any job qualifications.

All the new jobs will be government jobs, all the new government jobs _must_ be diverse, all the "new Canadians" are "diverse."
Hmmmm
Spot on
There were actually only about 14,000 real private sector jobs created in April. Some 26,000 public sector jobs were created, which do not grow the economy!! Just old money being recycled between employees and government.
This jobs report is very troublesome and reflects what's happening to Canada's economy. It's in trouble!!
1 million immigrants every year, 95k new jobs. Good job!
And it’s not easy to get a govt Job!!!! You sure need a connection or someone who will bring up your name on the inside from amongst hundreds of applicants …
Canada is a broken country and I wonder who did it😢
Should check Canada how many foreign workers earning a living in Canada, but not living here, have to go back maybe 30 plus years
You need more jobs because you need a second job just to make it now days Thanks Mr. Tax Man !
As a native born canadian of 40 years im still struggling to have any kind of future here in canada. Nowadays i just layflat because there are no oppourtunities anymore.
I noticed this was the problem with canadas GPD. More Gov jobs... make it appear like Canda is doing well on the global stage. A grand sharade.
Finally!!
“Government Workers”? Somehow I can’t fit these two words together. It’s an oxymoron.
Why the hell do we need more public sector jobs? There are already tens of thousands too many already.
And we wonder why productivity is down. Government workers don’t produce widgets to sell.
Help Canadians out " we the people "
I think Northern Perspective or somebody did a break down and it turns out there was only 14000 or 26000 actual full time jobs in private sector
Trudeaus government cannot even figure out how to fix a bridge in Kingston Ontario
Canada is no longer Canada, its now Indianada,
Bigger and bigger government just leads to more and more bureaucracy. How much will it cost Canadians to hire all of these people? Where is Canada's GDP? The government has already shown themselves to be inept when it comes to programs it sounds like Trudeau and his government don't have people who understand economics but then again there's a likelihood that they wouldn't even listen anyways. They just do whatever they want to do
Would be good to see the split of the government jobs by federal vs. Provincial
Canada needs to take a page out of Javier Milei's book.
And of course it would be government jobs which just raises taxes. Wake up Canada.
Surely there will be a stampede of Canadian teens to get a summer job - under the sun, out in the farms & fields!
If everyone's income is dependent on government spending it creates an incentive to vote for parties that will grow the public sector.
Nicely said BL. I would like to see/hear about government wages vs services for the entire government dept.s. Simple ratios of where the tax money is actually going. I am painfully aware it's towards upper echelon pay, bonuses, etc in lieu of services provided. Also, I'm sure many would be interested in the % of born 'Canadians' who actually are hired these days for our own government. A pre-maturely forced 'retired' & unemployed CAF Vet.
indians everywhere
Especially in Tim Hortons
The numbers are not as flawed as our governments, federal and provincial.

I believe Ralph Kline premier of Alberta is the only one tht did deep cuts to the public service sector.
Really how big of a bureaucracy do we really need?
Immigration should be cut to 20%.
we should have an opt out clause
on what we pay with each of our tax money.
How many Tim Hortons workers do we need anyways.

They aren't just government workers, they are of course Liberal voters because who would vote to eliminate their own, although unnecessary, job ?
Look forward to having to look for a new job every 6 months to a year all thanks to the temporary agencies that have allowed companies to turn workers into disposable toilet paper
