I didn't know how poor we were until we received the food basket for Thanksgiving from our church. My parents never told us just how bad off we were. My mother always had a way to make things seem good.
Thank you! I just love your content. I’ve been there, trying to find a way to make a holiday special with only a few dollars. What I love about your videos are that you’re so real about it. Two free oranges! I’ve done that too. So creative. And real. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours! I’m helping support my local food bank, and I hope everyone that can help this year, chooses to. ❤

I'm a senior and everyone is on a budget. This was an excellent meal for an excellent price. I help family members who are on hard times so trust me any tip I can get to muster up a meal, I'll take it. It great that there are people like yourself that think of giving there time to help others. I've want to see more so I'm subscribing for that reason. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family...and your four legged extended family.
Yay! I am glad to have you! I grew up pretty poor with just my mom (actually my grandma, who took me in at 55 years old. She worked full-time and never received any assistance for me. There were times this would have been all we had. But, regardless of what you eat it is the memory made that is important!
Glad to see you back! You can check with your local food bank or churches for elderly that need assistance. Also, check with the local VA as there are many disabled and elderly veterans that need assistance.
Another great video friend!!!! I am so happy to see your face. That was a great video and what a wonderful way to show others that a meal can be made even when we have very little.
Call your local churches. They may need help with shut ins, the elderly and new moms. All those groups usually need help with meals. You could try local womans shelters too.
this looks good. and u showed a good decent meal. no turkey but thats ok too. its still a balanced meal and that important. one ur we were suffering so badly financially. and one thanksgiving meal i made for 2 adults and 2 kids. i made beans and hotdogs cooked together. a box of the store brand mac n cheez. frozen bag of peas and carrots. jiffy corned bread i made and 2 chicken thighs and some instant pottatoes a packet of chicken gravy. small can of cranberry sauce. and for dessert? i had some frozen fruit. and i did have some bisquick mix. so i made cooked fruit served over bisquick biscuits. this was in the early 1990s. and prices were less than they r today. and i dont think o spent $10 total. so yes it wasnt the conventional thanksgiving meal but we did have a nice dinner. and we were fed. and when i was little mom could only afford very little and i remeber one thanksgiving we had fried onions and potatoes. hard boiled eggs she got a bery small package of bacon and cut the the package in 3s. and mom made carrots for the vegis. she did make toast for our bread. and for dessert? we each had an orange Nd apple. bc we always had those 2 fruits in the house at all times. it was a good meal and hot and we were well fed for the day. the best 2 thanksgiving day meals that i can clearly remeber bc the family was there to celebrate our day and be thankful for what we had. both days were wonderful
Maybe even the food bank. Some of them take the food to shut ins. If you have food for Thanksgiving then you are doing better than some people. When my son was a baby we had $15. We bought baby food and formula. We are hot dogs all week. Sometimes you do what you have to. So glad you are back.
As to finding someone to cook for, contact your local senior center where they do house visits, meals on wheels and other activities for seniors. My center has a department that supplies things seniors in need need. Call them and they will help you. Also check your local churches. They might know people in need.
Try agency on aging or meals on wheels or other social services to see if they have elderly people on wait lists. Could also post on local sites seeing if anyone would be interested.
❤ A great option could be canned Turkey or a rotisserie and stuffing chicken casserole. Or just the rotisserie chicken instead of Turkey. In CA several food banks give a thanks giving meal for families in need too.
I eat whatever im served & dont complain. Ive been in 3rd world country where food wasnt widely available. The ppl wouldn't sell me what lil food they had. So i went wo for 3 days. I dont take what i have for granted anymore.
It was! Someone else mentioned it and I was excited because I could not for the life of me remember who or where I saw it. But I loved her heart from the few minutes I saw. I watched her all during nap time today! She is a wonderful soul!
They did last year. My husband's company also gives everyone a voucher for a turkey. This was just an example of what someone could do if they didn't have an oven and only a few dollars.
@FrugalPants maybe go to the closet to you or just go to Walmart. You always see sad and poor looking people there. Pray and God will lead you. 🙏 I may need to do something like this when I'm able. Been at the hospital for over a week with my 82 yr old mom who fell and broke her femur in 2 places plus a guy I call my adopted son had back surgery on Friday and I promised to cook and take him some meals to help his mom out. Plus I'm looking at another ankle surgery to remove a bone they missed on one of the other 4 they did. It may be 6 months before I can start but I'm going to keep this in my heart
Her name on utube is Dollar Tree Dinners and I watch her she is amazing! She makes the individual meals takes to an elderly lady, and she does low cost meals for holidays and everyday eating! I love these meals you are all creating for folks❤ such great ideas!!❤🎉
Every time I hear someone say something like this, I hear it in Charlie Browns voice, lol. Anyway, she didn't make it because she doesn't like it. But those muffins could easily be made into stuffing, or just grab a box. Easy enough.
We prepare Thanksgiving meals for many of the elderly and infirm people on this island and try to make sure everyone gets a good meal with leftovers! Neighbours need to look out for each other. And have fun.
Not quite a balanced meal. Heavy on carbs (corn, potatoes and cornbread) with sodium (ham and gravy), but I understand it's hard to get kids to eat some items. Maybe a green veg or two? But, I have to admit, I wouldn't turn the meal down.
When one has to watch carbs because of diabetes these corn muffins warmed and generously buttered they are wonderful! Just the right size to satiate the cravings. Thank you for your interesting presentation Loved the turkey roll ups idea. Even though you seem to be a bit disorganized(I'm attributing it to also keeping an eye on the children) but you're doing fine Mama. You're busy busy but your critical thinking skills are great. Instantly seeing mismarked chocolate chip muffins as dessert.
Well, hopefully you have more to feed your family. It wasn't supposed to be a gourmet meal. It was just an idea of what someone could do if they didn't have an oven and only a few dollars.
