@@lennetteguidry5723 MEP stands for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. MEP consultants work with architects to make the building they design functional. As a mechanical designer I’m responsible for the hvac system. I needed to hear this. The best way to combat systemic racism is through entrepreneurship. My husband and I opened our own retail business in 2019, but we both still have full-time jobs and a five-year-old son. It's been such a struggle but we're making our way through it. This interview reminded me of why we decided to go into business for ourselves thank Breakfast Club for doing this. We are fighting like hell to free ourselves from the institutional racism we experience daily on our jobs. Thank you Miss Cheryl for the courage and inspiration to keep fighting!

This was a HISTORY lesson it gave me goosebumps hearing about the Original Master Builders such as Ms McKissack Great Great Grandfather, his Son, and then his Son her Grandfather, and Great Uncle who were enslaved/ dealing with the reconstruction, and the actual institutions of slavery that kept them from even getting a license which when finally "given a chance" were able to showcase their true trade/skillsets/ birthright and genius once "Freed". This is literal hidden history being unveiled. Monumental is an understatement for this type of information even being exchanged to the masses of our people. WE can all achieve this in some capacity our families must get back to constructing, producing, engineering. You cannot build a nation without it this stuff is embedded in our DNA it just needs to be activated again. Get your kids/neices/nephews/cousins into STEM/STEAM we must get them into CODING as we move into this fully digitized age! Peace to the god Ms McKissack and her family on continued generational wealth, and reaching a hand back to pick your people up! Awe-inspiring interview!
