I also found that you can use a "bite down" item as soon as you grapple next to the snake. This allows you to resurrect and dodge past the snake into the area with the Dried Serpent Viscera, without getting thrown off the cliff.
You have the Homeward Idol that lets you return to the last Idol rested at or the Shrine Idle. There are also grapple points above the statue that lead you to another Miniboss
You can just use the homeward idol to go back to the last checkpoint after getting the dried serpent viscera rather than risking getting killed. You don’t lose any of the items or anything.
Hi, after many trials and mistakes, i definitely did it with the smoke crow prosthetic limb, and then i discovered that the most flashy and better way to do it is to use the genjutsu after killing the monkey, after the lady said: "You need to make the monkey dance to defeat the serpent" and it was astounding how the little monkey, after using the puppeteer ninjutsu, jumps to an unreacheable hill of the cave only to fall prey of the snake's teeth, in the meanwhile, she doesnt know that i just retrieved the fruit of her entrails, hopefully to destroy her.
I know I’m years late but you could also use the “Red Lump” which gives you the red eyes and as soon as you get knocked down by the snake your recovery is a lot faster and you can sprint in the house
can confirm chucking gravel ash still causes the serpent to bug out and reset itself. the monkey is there as a distraction if you got the puppet ninjitsu.
The correct way or the intended way is to use the "puppeteer ninjutsu". The monkey on doing this will climb the wall and shout to the great serpent distracting him.

the purpose of the monkey is to be our puppet just use the puppet Jutsu wait for some sec after that and snake will follow that monkey and u can easily enter without taking a single damage.

wrong, if u look up to ur top right before reaching the statue to get the dried up serpent heart, there is a passage leads back to Ashina Depth
