Great video and work done. Best of luck with tb test. Tb is very bad here in mid tipperary. Use and neighbour got big break down with tb. Neighbour lost half his cows we lost third of the cows on skin test and more went on blood tb test. First test was middle to end August second was end September
I've never seen a set up like yours where the cows are out in the open. Everyone else seems to bring them into a shed. Do yours have any shelter, and what are benefits/reasons? thanks
About 70 older cubicles are in a shed along with where we calf the cows. Main benefit is the reduced cost of building. It was a lot cheaper to build the extra slurry storage than a shed. We are spring calving so cows are dry most of the time they are on them. It makes lovely diluted slurry and cows are acclimatise to being outside which helps when getting cows out to grass in spring.
I have outdoor cubicles also. I will admit to feeling sorry for myself when scraping cubicles in the rain..once cows belly's are full the fermentation process in there stomach generates heat. There own hot water bottle
Good stuff
