It's wild now as you get older, you get to follow bands since their first EP releases. And its so damn interesting to see how these bands grow.

Mike wrote and recorded all the instrumentation. Drums were programmed, but also written by him. He’s the mastermind behind that side of things, and his wife Courtney does her thing.

One take on "Circle with me" is a must!

I feel like she would enjoy newer Spiritbox more. The earlier stuff was much proggier. Circle With Me is probably the bext introduction song for her. I like their earlier stuff better though.

Ash would love The Mara Effect by Spiritbox live at Silverside Sound. I still think that 3 part song is their magnum opus.

I agree. That song never gets old

Jesus please stop suggesting a 30 minute session. There's always someone that says The Mara Effect, no matter how little the reactor likes prog metal

Should have shown Ash the one-take version. That's where Courtney's silliness shows and true talent shows. If you do another Spiritbox song, I suggest 'Circle With Me' or even 'Constance' for something softer and more emotionally powerful.

The singles collection is my favorite era of Spiritbox up to this point, but they have gotten less progressive with a lot of the newer stuff and Ash might like that more. Courtney's one take of Circle With Me or Rotoscope would be my recommendations for something else to check out.

Agreed!! Circle with me the one take specifically is my favorite! 🤘🤘🤘

Try Rotoscope, Circle with Me, Hurt You or Blessed Be. All good options for new listeners
Their older stuff is more off-tempo, proggy style, but very very good for their genre. The newer work (off Eternal Blue album or recent Rotoscope EP) are easier to stay in the pocket when nodding your head.
Definitely try them again and if you see a live one-take of Courtney you like then that would also be a good choice.
Holy Roller isn't a typical track by them, it's heavy throughout & although very fun I don't think it highlights the band as well as others. Constance official video is amazing, very emotional melodic song, worth a listen but I'd wait a few tracks before listening.

Thanks for reacting to my suggestions..... i bet Ash would enjoy "the mara effect" by Spiritbox

I got a great recommendation for the both of you. They are the first 2 tracks on an album, both songs have a music video for them on TH-cam and the dichotomy of the two tracks you both will appreciate fully. Woman vocalist. The band is 'Rolo Tomassi' and the songs are (listen to them in this order) 1.) Aftermath and 2.) Rituals

  • @wubsworld8946

Most INTRO friendly (roughly in order) Spiritbox tracks imo:
    -The Summit
    -Secret Garden
    -Eternal Blue
    -Perennial
    -Trustfall
Most THIS IS WHO THEY ARE tracks imo:
    -Belcarra
    -Bleach Bath
    -Beauty of Suffering
    -Holy Roller
    -Electric Cross
    -The Mara Effect pt.3

Yeah I could see Ash liking the "melodic" list of tracks for sure, I personally prefer their more melodic stuff...as much as I don't mind it when they wanna drop the instruments an octave or so & have Courtney go off at me 😂👍

Play her some damn Meshuggah and tell her to pick out time signatures in ANY of their songs :D Start ith Bleed perhaps?

  • @ericwilson5453
    @ericwilson5453 ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed, they're not jinjer, but they have their own lane. I'm stuck on jinjer too😉 but will always play some spiritbox.

How about reacting to Aeryon with the song The day that the world breaks down. It features 11 different singers from big metalbands

Aww, you should have also showed her Harper's "Holy Roller" audition on America's Got Talent. Spiritbox invited her on stage last year during one of their shows to perform it with them. So cute.

I can see the Jinjer comparison and it sort of is, I just personally think Spiritbox is more groovy and Jinjer is when I really want some raw metal.

  • @beccareichard6669
    @beccareichard6669 ปีที่แล้ว +3

“it’s not jinjer” 🙄 the comparisons get so old. I mean you like what you like and spiritbox and jinjer have completely different styles of metal and vocals. I wish people would stop making comparisons between the two because it always comes down to the fact that they’re both female vocalists. you don’t see this happening with male vocalists and if you do it’s so rare. it’s just tiring to see. and then this is just my own personal opinion here but I prefer spiritbox more because their music is so much more diverse and experimental. I like jinjer but a lot of their music sounds the same, as if stuck in their own box. I love how deep tatiana’s growls are it’s super impressive. what impressed me about courtney is that she holds a melody throughout her harsh vocals. it’s as if she is singing while screaming and I haven’t seen another female vocalist at least that does that. but this isn’t a comparison for me. this is just stating what I like about both bands. it’s just the continuous comparisons that come from the fact that they are both females that annoys the fuck out of me. and again this is just a personal opinion but spiritbox’s drums and bass are so much more experimental and unique and stands out so much more. I love it when drums and bass stand out so much and get their well recognized talent and sound so it’s a bit shocking that this isn’t her sound but hey it’s her first listen so there’s that. and another impressive thing is that mike, the guitarist, actually writes and records the drum and bass as well. a talented dude.

That seems odd - liking Dubstep but not really fond of polyrythym and timeshifting... You maybe got to itroduce her on Meshugga drum playthroughs and/or the Tool brain melters to get her into it , perhaps... xD
