I actually took this as a sick acting choice. Like he changed his mind with how he would start the first verse of the form. His character is so musical that he thinks poetically, but this fact becomes his only train of thought and it makes him resentful of less talented folk who are more successful. Also he doesn’t physically pause on those silent beats meaning he doesn’t give a crap about the music he just wants what’s his for once. So cool
