Good choice! I used the same pad on West Highland Way in April. Coupled with a Sierra Designs Cloud 20 bag. I filled the pump sac with clothes and put a Buff round it to make a pillow. It is a 4 season - good to -20°c. I didnt need my foil mat with this pad. Plenty warm for me.
Hi Hedley, look forward to seeing the live trials. I think we used carrymats a bit of thin foam everyone used to have their slung under their rucksack!! It certainly inflated quickly great idea those pumps!! All the best
Thanks for this Hedley, in the market for something like this, its always a little difficult due to cost and personal preference - will be interested to see how it fairs on your trips. Phill
Cats with fighting daggers and inflatable beds do not go together. Prepare to get very familiar with the repair kit. R values are the thermal properties of the material its made of but thickness of that material needs to be also put into that equation to see how good a performer it is (also 70mm is not 3"). For comparison the same R value equates to 165mm of polystyrene so that is quite a claim. Will be interested to see how this performs under the Hedley snoozing frame in Winter.
@philipbellew9645 we will see! There was also an "8R" version but that seemed silly. Hopefully in just over a week I will try it out high up on Dartmoor!
