  • During the 1970's these amazing colour films provided a break in between the test card and the television trade information. It provided a chance to view some of the best freely available colour films then available. This mixed range of footage was often 'sponsored' as an indirect form of advertising, but these informative, usually beautifully shot colour movie features were indeed classics in their own right.
On this video is featured another 1960's information film, made by the Central office of Information for the Department of the Environment. It gives an interesting insight to the dpt. Transport driving tests of that time. So get ready and follow the road ahead down Memory Lane!

Memories of days gone by .
I had a Viva of the same metallic blue .
Blue bird she was called .
Unfortunately like so many cars of that era , the dreaded rust got the better of her eventually .
I Still miss her to this day .
Of course cars are so much safer these days .
But what I wouldn't give to have Blue Bird back again .

I had two Vauxhalls they both went the same way, rust buckets! I wouldn't mind a classic car of that era or a bit later actually, like the Sports Capri I once owned... memories indeed, it was only yesterday though!
Thanks for the comment and memories. Jayne.

I know your channel is mainly based around various music forms and other
quirky things from the past , but while we're on the subject of old cars , and Vauxhall's in particular , my two favourite cars from those byegone days , are the Vauxhall Cresta PA from the late fifties .
And the ubiquitous Ford Zodiac from the same era .
Both incredibly good looking , but sadly both , particularly the Cresta , rust prone in a big way .
Still never mind , memories are always bathed in nostalgia , and for some unknown reason , the sun was always shining back then , and life was without so many worries .
Excuse me while I jump into my time machine , and head back to the fifties .
Although I mustn't forget to take my phone , otherwise I'll miss all your future offerings .
Thanks again Jane , your channels fun !!

The voice over sounded like James Robertson Justice . Carry on Doctor . ' I don't growl like a bear, I roar like a lion" . did he say?

Was it Hattie Jacques as Matron? The Carry On's were great, now almost a lost era of real comedy! Thanks for the comment Geoff, you could be right Doctor! xx
