Fun Fact: The stars are called Moravian Stars (Herrnhut Stars in Germany). They are most common in Germany, Lancaster Pennsylvania and Winston-Salem North Carolina, but can be found all across Europe. They come from the Moravian Church which was a protestant denomination founded in the Czech Republic that eventually had to flee persecution. They represent the star of Bethlehem and the Advent/Christmas season.

So fun to see someone experiencing Oslo with so much enthusiasm! ❤
I live here (not far from the botanical gardens)and it’s easy to just dream of other places and not see the nice sides of where you actually live 😅
Also you just put a lightbulb with a wire inside the paper stars to make them light up!

Søstrene Grene is actually a Danish chain store that you can now find in Western Europe (they have a store in Dublin for instance... and one in Brittany where I live) nice stuff, I love those stars too...
    Happy Holidays to you

Really enjoyed this, Oslo looks such an interesting city to explore. Aife loving tea reminds me of my own first daughter at the same age (she's now 43!). She would have loved that little kettle!

I really enjoyed these two videos, after a very long day at work. Thanks for taking me along with you 🙂.Funny how Harvey said you “restrained” yourself when you went shopping. I tell my wife that when she shops too. Very cool you met some folks from Germany who watch your videos. I’d love to meet y’all someday, even go on a hike!

They have one of the Søstrene Grene shops in Ireland! The little elf is Tomten! Swedish Santa! (Not sure if he’s Norways Santa too!). We also have the stars in our windows in Swedish too, everyone puts them up in winter because it’s so dark for so long here. You can put the paper ones over your light fitting near the window to light them up! PS have recently moved to Sweden from Scotland so loving all the scandi content!

Its a nisse, not a elf :) Very Norwegian, and Scandinavian. We have several nisser, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nisse_(folklore) . And if your acting silly, goofy or dumb, we might nickname you as a "nisse". "Din nisse" : you goofball , or optionally "For ein nisse" : what an idiot. We can also say : "Ha nissen med på lasset" , which sort of means that you're troubles are following you. Because "fjøsnissen", the farmsanta, would cause havoc on the farm. Obviously this is folklore, and we generally don't believe in nisser. We heavily associate them with Christmas.
