I'm more impressed with the background wall scratched with a lath tapered off and then held with a 45 degree angle to the wall so the next coat sits into the scratch. That is the correct way to do it sir so glad to see somebody knows that's how it should be.

Thanks, a nice tip is to round off the corners of the trowel, they're pretty tough on skin otherwise :)
Leaving your trowel edge side up is definitely a no!no! A dangerous practice.
